  1. Accompied my husband to his Biometrics appointment today. It took us about 20 minutes. First fill out an application form (we didn't bring his SSN card... I told him he needs to memorize his numbers, grr). And then he had to sit for a few minutes to be called into an office, to verfiy and ask him the same questions asked on the application form. Then fingerprinted and photographed.

    Was generally easy.

  2. (F) I'm soooo sorry for your lost. I KNOW how it feels. My beloved dog, Punk, a gorgeous Miniature Pinscher was unexpectly taken away from me. He passed away in his bed a week before his 4th birthday. We still have no idea why it happened. Neprosy showed trauma-related case of death. It was a terrible day for me -- a chain reaction of things: in short, I was very angry for a long time, and I still cry/mourn for him even through it has been over a month since.

I am truly sorry and feel for your loss. Your dog is beautiful and I'm sure he's up in the Heavens playing with my Punk. Rest in Peace, puppies. (F)

  3. Good morning everyone! I got my coffee, and I actually ate a bowl of cereal for breakfast ?! Good for me *pats back*

I took my hubby to the local Starbucks near my work. We have a 11 AM appointment for AOS biometrics. It's only about 20 minutes away from my office. Whew.

I rather be at the beach, lounging around! *Sighs* T.G.I.A.F!

    Have a nice Thursday!

Aym -- ugh Poison Ivy isn't fun. Try oatmeal baths/paste.

  4. Stupid question maybe, but are we supposed to get the I-863 I-693filled out? Is that a real biggie? He came over on a K-1.

I did send in a copy of the vaccination form that he had done prior to his K-1 interview (I don't know if it's called the DS----).

We're going in for the biometrics appt tomorrow. A little crazy with my work schedule :-/

**Just edited.. is it i-863 or i-693? for medical..

  5. (F) I am truly sorry for your loss. I know how much your Dad means to you and it was hard to see you bear with the loss. I am sure he is in a better place, doing his favorite things and looking down on his lovely daughter and family. With sympathy - K *hugs*
  6. Happy Wednesday everyone. Hope all is well. I'm slowly recovering from stiff/pinched neck/back issues. Alas, I had fun practicing my "robot" dance moves yesterday at work and home.

Annie -- You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers -- I understand how hard it is to grieve loved family members. It's good to spend time with dad as much as possible, share the good memories and so forth. We're here to hear you out. I do wish I had my BB working so we could chat more. ((((Annie)))) BTW, I just saw the picture of your new home... congratulations - it's a beau!

  7. We both have no children, and plan on waiting for a few more years before we breed.

Ok, so you made me laugh.

    Welcome to the MENA family.

Accounting and sign language ............ interesting choices .... curious why ASL ?

I teach ASL as it is my "natural" language, and have been teaching in the past 7 years. I happen to be Deaf, too.

Accounting, cuz I'm darn good at it. :-P

Really, my passion are languages, cultures, and FOOD. *smack lips*

Psst.... thanks for the welcome, altho I've been a member since early 2008 ;)

  8.

Hi everyone, I'm not new here neither, just not really part of the "in crowd"

My name is Kristen, met my husband (then fiance) in 2007 online and then in person. He's from Irbid, Jordan. We did the K1 process which was difficult for us (whenever is it not??!). He made his way here to San Diego, California in November 2008. We married on December 31, 2008. Things are great! :luv:

We both have no children, and plan on waiting for a few more years before we breed.

Oh, I'm a serial part-timer: teach American Sign Language (ASL) at a couple universities/colleges/adult schools. And an accountant.

    Anyway, hi!

  9. Happy Thursday!

It's nice out... the company is having a BBQ event for the customers (my tummy's growling). I guess I'll just grab a burger from McD's

Hope all of you are doing well.

I've been really out of the loop... busy with married life and working life :) and oh, lets not forget the immigration paperwork life...

I noticed Nawal (annie) is MIA -- is she doing alright? Pass on my greetings...

I've been meaning to BB Chat with her, but my phone's been out of order in the last month *grr*!

  10. USCIS (chicago lockbox) received our AOS packet April 6th. No NOA 1 yet, check didn't get cashed yet either. Is that normal?

I was thinking the same thing... I just double checked the address, the confirmation information on USPS.... my bank's Bank of America. I'm glad to hear someone else was thinking the same thing tho. I'll give it a week before I start getting too worried.

Maybe it's because it's Tax season?? hmmmm....

  11. No children yet, but we have briefly discussed that when we do have kids -- we'll be using all 3 languages we know: ASL, English, and Arabic.

ASL is a priority (for me), as I wouldn't be happy if I can't efficiently communicate with my own kids. English is natural. And Arabic, so our kids can efficiently communicate with hubby's family and friends.

We most likely will be sending to regular school. We'll see how things are with education years down the road. I definitely don't mind home-schooling for part of their lives (with travelling taking place). I also plan to purchase Arabic children book and read it using ASL. Confusing? Hopefully not in practice. :)

    Am I missing something?

WOW! It looks wwwwwwaaaaaay more organized than what we sent in yesterday!! Looks great... now I have my own concern.. are we supposed to send extra copies of the I-94 and visa page with the other forms even if there's already a copy in the packet? *biting lip*

I did at least send in 6 passport pictures...

And ummm... we do have certificated copy of marriage certificate, but we send in a copy of it (we'll bring the actual certificated copy to the interview -- hopefully!!)..

    *sweat forming*

I don't think I was as thorough with this packet as I was with the K-1... :(

  13. *waves*

We just sent it in yesterday 4/6/09. I also freaked out slightly about the Medical... sent AOS in without it (but did send in a copy of the vaccination form from when he did the K-1 biometrics/medical). MAYBE get a RFE for that and/or employment vertification (just got another letter TODAY).

Ah well. We're just glad to get the ball rolling (we were waiting for my tax return and happy we got it from California!)

    Good luck everyone! :D

  14. Good morning everyone. Have a lovely day!

  15. Hello VJ members,

Yesterday I got email from the company where I applied for the last three months where I really like the position. But I just got hired recently and not related with what I have in the past but I need a job. How can I reply in this letter professionally that I am still interested but not at this time?

    Here is the letter:Hello!

Some time ago, you registered with XXX Co. and the world's premier specialized Accounting & Finance firm. We are constantly monitoring new market trends which can offer opportunities for highly skilled professionals like you.

We'd also like to know if you are interested or if you are not looking for a new job opportunity at this time. If you would like to discuss industry salary levels, your needs or those of your department, please feel free to call us. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Sincerely,

IMO (in my opinion), it looks like an email to gather information -- they are asking if you're still looking for work or not. It's not a job offer.

From what I understand, you liked the position you interviewed for with "XXX Co." but you are currently working a new job. Why don't you respond informing that you would be interested in obtaining information about the opportunities they may have? I don't think it hurts to try. It doesn't mean you have to leave your current job.

    Good luck!

  16. I do have proof of employment listing the rate for ONE of my jobs (yes, Plural).... and even if I just use this one, it would be sufficient for meeting the poverty guidelines. Is this okay to submit just this one.. or should I gather letters from other places of employment?

Also, another note regarding the proof I do have: it is for a 3-month contract (I have current -- dated today) and the prior one.
