  1. thanks.BTW, this is IL. I will prepare for an afternoon at the SSA office 🙂
  2. When I became US citizen I got a flyer stating that In need to update my SSN record. 1.) Do I still need to do that, even after being in US 20 years on GC, working? What really changes? 2.) Is there an online variant or form? Or do I need to visit SSN office?
  3. I have a thick binder with all my Visa history. From L1, H1B, GC's, etc. Any reason to keep after getting citizenship?
  4. Can anyone help me understand timeline an procedure to schedule a passport appointment at a US passport office (e.g. Chicago)? I called the line and they told me that they only scheduled out 4 weeks of actual travel date. However, they also told me processing time is at least 6-8 weeks... So, when I told them about a Oct 13th travel they told me to call back later. How can I schedule earlier? Preferably same time as my oath ceremony?
  5. I got notified today for a case change. Turns out that my oath ceremony got scheduled for Sept 7th in Chicago. I called immediately the passport number. However, they told me that I can't schedule an appointment yet. I gave them a (real) travel date for Oct 15th. They schedule in a 4 week window. They also told me that it takes 11 weeks to get the passport. So, I don't understand... Anyhow, I wonder what travel date I should claim to get an appointment on Sept 7th. Or other method?
  6. I downloaded the DS-11 form and I am trying to fill out electronically. It seems impossible. The form copies content in unwanted place. Boxes are too small, and so on. SSN and phone number fields simply don't work I have filled out so many PDF forms electronically, this one seems impossible. I resorted to add text boxes on top of the fields. It seems it would be in anyone's interest to fill out electronically Is this a user error?
  7. thanks. So my plan of attack will be to to call for a passport appointment the same day I receive the oath ceremony invite. Also pay expedited fee. BTW. what payment method is accepted? CC? This will be interesting with the current general passport backlog. Hard to plan business trips. P.S. How to I update global entry/TSA Pre? I believe this is linked to my non-US passport number and green card number
  8. How can I optimize the time to get a US passport after oath ceremony? Can I apply on the same day of oath ceremony for passport? My understanding is that I need to fill out a DS11 form and bring passport photos? Do I need an appointment? I believe there is a passport office at the Chicago immigration office where they also hold the oath ceremonies. Could I get this done on the same day?
  9. Where can I find the official current civic interview questions? I am getting confused with the two versions 2008 and 2020.
  10. thanks. This is very helpful. I am concluding I could file several reentry permits as long as I "reside" in the US while doing so.
  11. Can I do the reentry permit once? I am assuming I have to file this while in US? With other words I could not stay 4 years outside of the US?
  12. I believe that generally one can stay outside of the US for one year. My understanding is that here is a way to extend stay outside of the US for up to 2 years, is this correct? Ont he other hand it seems that some people maintain a GC for years by traveling to US every so often and owning a condo. I (GC holder) am married to a US citizen. If I lost my resident status would I need to start from scratch to get a GC?
  13. I will try the FOIA path. I see that as the only way in my case. Or just mention during my interview that I did a best effort. N @Zeppelinn1630 90% of my trips do not have a passport stamp - I do have all my passports. I do not have print credit card statement form my old employer. No trips to banned countries. Less than 50 trips. COVID helped a bit. Maybe 20 short week trips.
