Hi All We are a K1 visa stuck in DS5535 Montreal since more than a year, got requests for new medical, passport, pics and DS160 on 29th Dec 2022. 18th Jan 2023 sent everything in took Consulate so long to review that the RCMP police cert expired on 16th March 2023, sent in a new one by ourselves by Fedex WITHOUT their request on 20th March. Was in ‘Refused’ status since 1 year then went to ‘Application received’ on 22nd March then Refused again on 6th April and now it went to Administrative processing. Can anyone please provide some info as to WHAT is going on? Why is it ‘Administrative Processing’ and not Approved like others? Please any info can clear out our confusion 😞 so stressed out.

@addpeace Congratulations great news! I was following your case and its sad that we have to spend so much money to get our due right 😞but it paid off! just a quick question when did they ask for a new medical and passport? They requested ours on 29th Dec 2022 but took so much time to review the new medical that the PC expired. Now we sent a new one and in waiting game. should we try to go WOM as well so they can speed up our process?

All we are a K1 visa at Montreal Consulate and were given DS5535, at last in Dec 2022 just before the holidays Consulate asked for passport, new medical, DS160 and pics. Sent everything by Jan 18th 2023. Nothing happened except a few updates on CEAC for the last 10 weeks. On March 22nd it moved to ‘ Application received’ and Non immigrant visa. We knew my RCMP police check expired so we sent a new one proactively on 24th March by ourselves. 1 update on 29th and stayed the same until April 6th and moved to ‘ Refused’ again 🥺 Is there any K1 visa that can shed some light on it please?? Its been 12 weeks since our medical was sent to the Consulate but we do not have the approval or visa in hand.

Hey guys please please advise me our status was in ‘Application received’ since March 22nd now today it changed back to ‘Refused’. Does anyone know why it happened? My second medical and passport was requested on Dec 29 2022 after more than a year ( 2021) of DS5535. It still says though non immigrant application and date created to be recently ( we are k1 visa) We are super depressed now 🥺

Guys our status has been in ‘Application received’ since 22nd March 2023 ? How long does it take to move to ‘Approved’? And why is it taking so long when they received everything since 9 weeks ago. please advise if someone has any experience on this step. We are thinking for a WOM with Chris (PIC) because we fear its already 9 weeks since my second medical and their laziness can expire this too? (Its a K1 visa btw)

Hello guys it has been more than 10 weeks since Consulate requested new medical, pics, ds 160, valid passport (k1 visa)which were received by them on 18th Jan 2023. Meantime they even expired my RCMP certificate which has also been sent last week. The ceac only shows ‘Application received’ and no updates since 2 weeks. our case was in Ds5535 vetting since late 2021. we are planning to sue the Consulate through a WOM if something doesn’t happen this week. Can anyone advise who is the best lawyer? Please don’t advise Jim Hacking their firm just takes the money snd let you deal with paralegal. please help us out!!!

Also once they get my new PC will they subject me again to a longgg review for weeks or should it be a quick one? It has been in Application received since 23rd March.

Hello guys i did manage to send my new PC which expired on 16th march due to the slowness of montreal consulate. Although i sent them our ds160, pics, medical on 18th jan their review took so long (8.5 weeks) that my PC expired meanwhile with them a few days ago. Although they did not request a new one I sent because I was advised so. It has not reached them yet and my status has now changed to application received since last 4 days. Does anyone have experience how long it took to get issued?

@kate777 hi just curious how long did it take between the documents submission and the visa issuance? Did you have updates in between? Ours got sent on 18th Jan 2023 and since then few updates but it still says ‘Refused’ btw we are K1 visa too

@F3MTL Did they ask for new DS form as well? Usually if they don’t ask for a new DS they also don’t ask for pics. In our case they asked for a new DS160 and pics with the medical.

Has someone experienced sending a document to the Consulate without their request? In my case they have not yet requested a new RCMP certificate because it is expiring in 2 days, but since my case is still in process should I be sending it myself? Or is it overreacting? Please guide 🥺

It seems like they have just slept after getting my medical and the other documents! And now the issue of a possible RCMP certification looms over 😭 Its been almost 7 weeks and only 4-5 updates but no visa in hand!
