    I751 interview after N400 interview

    I had my N400 interview today, applied for N400 while my "I751" was still pending,i was told by Immigration Officer to wait for the notice for I751 interview, if i don't hear anything in 90 days contact USCIS by making a INFOPASS appointment, did any of of you had experience like mine, or heard of it before , appreaciate any help or information.

    Interview(12/08/2011) update :

    1. The officer went through the details filled in N 400 application

    2. Reading/writing English, followed by civic test

    3. Told me that my I 751 still pending, so they may schedule another interview , If i don't hear anything from USCIS in 90 days make INFOPASS appointment to inquire.

    To irritated to type so I'm just reposting what I put in a seperate thread:

    At our interview on Nov 6, 2007. The women clearly stated to us that she could not approve the case at that time because the FBI name check had not cleared yet. She gave us info on removing conditions and said once the name check cleared, she would approve our case. I've called the 800 # a few times but got nowhere. On 4/24/08 I called and stated we fell under the 180 day memo. The representative took our info and sent a inquiry in about this. Today we recieved something in the mail. It states that our name check cleared within 2 months but our case can NOT be approved b/c they need to perform addition review on this case???? This is NOT what we were told AT ALL! She said she WOULD approve as soon as our name check cleared and according to them, it's cleared. ####### is going on?!?! HOW do we get answers?

    On a side note, in the information given to them from us (or so they say) for that phone call states "type or service requested: interview reschedule" ??? We did not ask to reschedule any interview during that phone call. We went to out initial interview in November. Since then we have only heard from them after I've called asking about the name check. Again, how can I find out what's going on with our case b/c the woman we had our interview said nothing about needing more time.

    we both are in same situation, i was interviewd in january , officer said "FBI background check" pending , all security checks clear by february end , my case is still pedning...the usual answer i get wheni go on Infopass

    on Infpass last week the officer showed a printout , and said someone is working on your case from today!!

    no update yet !! how long they need aprove a case , 1 hour when they have all info

    The officer said our case has been under review with an officer (I don't remember the exact wording) since March 14, 2008. I'm guessing that was when the results for the 3/3/08 biometrics came in. He thought we'd be hearing very soon and told us not to move. (Like I would do anything to jeopardize mail delivery at this time!)

    that was the response i got for last 2 Infopass appointments , "pending decision by a officer", on my last Infopass the officer said , change of address!!! it is goint to slow the process :blink:

    I had infopass today , unfortunately i had the same counter and IO i had talked to in my last Infopass 20 days back...

    it went o n like this

    me : i had AOS interview on January, the Interviwing officer told me at the end of the interview that my permananet residency is aproved pending FBI background check and new guidlines issued by USCIS says that cases pending more than 180 days in name check are being aproved...

    IO : I dont think that is the issue,you may have heard him wrong :unsure: your case is pedning (final?)decision

    me : no sir, that is what he told me, you mean my background check is cleared

    IO : cant say that

    me: can you say when my background checks tarted atleast

    IO : NO

    me : what is the issue with my case

    IO : told you, awaiting decision by IO...

    Secretary Chertoff: Three -- two main things. One is, we have to move from a paper-based system to a totally electronically-based system. We still have too much paper, and it's hard to track, it's hard to manage, and it takes a lot of time.

    The second piece is, I want to rebuild -- re-engineer the system in a couple of ways. One is, and the most urgent, is to deal with the background check problem. It just takes way too long for the Bureau to complete background checks for a small but a significant number of people. The majority of people -- you know, if the name doesn't pop up on anything in the -- it's pretty quick. But for a small number -- but still significant, and certainly to the individual, significant -- if their name crops up and it's an older case, and it's in a file somewhere, someone has got to hunt it down. And to be perfectly honest, that is not a top priority job for an agent, is to go through an old paper record sitting in a warehouse.

    Looking forward as we go electronically, and as the Bureau goes electronically, that problem will diminish. But looking backwards we have to re-engineer the system to be a little tougher. And one of the things we did, for example, with the green cards was we said, for background checks that took longer than six months, we would give you a green card, and then if it turned out the background check later revealed a problem, we would take the green card away.

    what to do ?

    Infopass : go with new memo

    or

    Ombudsman?

    another option is wait till march 10th

    march 10th is just a few days away, why go through additional headache of an infopass at this time?

    i was told by IO after my AOS interview on jan 22nd that my background check is pending, am for sure my name check is pending with FBI more than 180 days , i had my FP around 6 months back, just want to make sure that, my case do not get lost.....

    Since my interview 19 Feb, it took till the 28 February to get this email notice YAHOO FINALLY!

    It feels good to finally copy and paste this for myself as others have! YEAH!!!!

    immigrants won a major victory this month when a federal judge ruled it was unlawful for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to require FBI name checks before deciding a naturalization case. While the USCIS continues to fight the decision, lawyers for the plaintiffs (the permanent residents suing the government) are confident of victory. Let's hope they are right
