  1. We were.specifically told to apply for a replacement because my husband did not have the GC. The website also automatically give you the amount to pay. We do they ask to pay for biometric if they were not going to.take.them?
  2. So we applied for the I-90 on April 24 for a replacement for GC that was lost (and it was expiring in June). The card was in production April 26. And today (April 28). It says that the "Card was produced"... And the website says "Case closed"! We paid $540 as requested by the online process. I thought they were going to take new fingerprints and pictures but they did not. 1) Should not the charge have been lower if they did not need biometrics? Can we get a partial refund? 2) Since the GC was expiring in June we were expecting a new GC with expiration 10yr from now. The USCIS person on the phone said that it was going to be the case. But now it seems strange that they will use the old picture... Are they going to send a GC expiring in one month?! Can we appeal to have a new GC expiring in 10yr if that happens without having to pay again? 3) We called on April 26 and scheduled an appointment with the USCIS on May 1 to go to get an I-551 stamp. The person told us that the card was already in the process of being produced and it was going to take about 30 days before we got it. The person said we needed to have an "urgent" reason in order to get the stamp because otherwise we could have just waited for the GC. Since I was concerned that something may not have worked out, we were able to get an appointment with the reason that my husband needs to renew his DL and we have a letter from the DMV. But now that the case is closed, will we be able to get the stamp? Or should I just cancel the appointment?
  3. The one that shows up here is definitely not where we were interviewed.😓 The office may have closed. But is it the specific office that release the GC? Cannot we just use "USCIS California Service center"? Ok. But before he would have to go on for biometric, right? The 10 yr green card expires in June. And he started working not to long after he got the 2yr one. So he has definitely worked more than 10yr.
  4. My husband was on a H1B visa when we got married. We had the interview in one of the 3 USCIS offices in our city 12 years ago. Not sure which one 😅. No embassy or consulate. I think we could do that but one of the option in the I-90 is missing GC and the form specifically says we can use any form of government ID so I think it is not necessary. The problem about using the Florida address is that we are not residents there yet and we are going to apply for N-400 that requires that you lived at that address for at least 3 months. Since the processing time is 1.5-2 yrs. In 2 months we will send a change of address. It seems extremely unlikely that the card will be produced in 2 months and I think it is likely that because the N-400 application the new green card may never be sent because my husband will be naturalized before. The user that answered in the other thread talks about AR-11 and I-865 for the change of address. Is the I-865 really necessary? I did not know that at the moment I am still my husband's sponsor.
  5. I posted here some questions regarding the I-90 because I thought it was more appropriate forum. Someone answered but I would like to have a second opinion:
  6. Yes as it is good enough what we have? We had an interview when we got the 2 yr green card. I do not remember the specific office. I can look. But are you saying it needs to be a specific office for 2-3 ? We cannot find a copy. We had one at a certain point. But we like to avoid to store on the cloud to avoid possible identity theft. Ok with the AR-11 but what about the sponsor? We had to have my parents be co-sponsors on the 2 yr green card but not after that. We have been independent and we have our own funds and money even before getting the 10 yr green card. And I do not see anything on the I-90. Do the sponsors still play a role? That is why we would like to start while we are still in California.
  7. For context: my husband's 10-yr GC is expiring in June and the actual GC was also lost (we have a police report). He is eligible for N-400. We are moving in June from CA to FL. He will also need a new DL (the CA DL is also expiring the same day of the GC). We are planning on traveling in July-Aug outside of US. It seems that we cannot just apply for N-400. We are filing the I-90 online so he will be able to get an I-553 stamp. Some questions about the I-90 online application: 1 - Class of admission. Since the GC is lost we cannot verify there. The 2 years GC had CR6 so I think the lost GC had IR6. What should we do? Do we need to put some extra effort to find out for sure or is it good enough to guess IR6? 2 - "Where did you apply for your immigrant visa or adjustment of status?". Is "USCIS California Service center" good enough? 3 - "Where was your immigrant visa or adjustment of status granted?". Where do we find this info? The card arrived attach on a card that we still have that has his A number and card number. It says "USCIS National Customer Service Center". Is it what we need to put here? 4 - There are 2 steps asking for a picture ID: the GC (both sides) and a generic photo ID. Can we use his DL for both and upload the the picture of the DL twice? 5 - Since we are moving, doI we need to be concern about something except update our location after we move? Thank you in advance!
  8. So we are going to apply for I-90 and N-400. Do we need to apply for I-90 first so we can attach the receipt? My husband hashad a GC for 10+yr. Is he better to apply for marriage requirements or another reason? I think we can apply online. Do we need to print something and submit actual pictures or they need to be uploaded and the signature is electronic? What do we need to send/upload?
  9. Seriously?! 😓 How does the change of address work? If you file online, is not the address updated on everything automatically?
  10. We can do a mail forward for the mail. I also think you get notify online if you apply online. Can they send a I-551 stamp with nothing pending at all?
  11. We have not but I was going to do it this week. If we want to leave the country we need to file the I-90 at least. That has at least one appointment ( biometric) right? If we do not start the N-400 we will have to wait 3 months after we move. For some other awkward reason you cannot file if you have not lived for at least 3 months in that state. For some reasons, I have a feeling that we need to apply sooner than later.
  12. Can you reschedule if the dates do not work for you? We were going to be in Europe for 1 month starting July 10. Let me add another thing 😓. My husband was laid off this month and he does not have a job yet. He was going to wait to look until after the move. I am an housewife. Does it this affect the I-90 or N-400 in any way?
  13. On 5. I was talking about biometric, tests, interview and pledge of allegiance. And let me add another thing. We are moving to Florida around June 15. How moving is going to affect everything?
  14. 1. We tried to go through the system saying "I-551 stamp" next question is "do you have documents pending?" If you answer "yes" and you says it is a "N-400" the system says: "did you apply 6 months before your I-551 expired?" If you says "No" the answer is "you need to apply for an I-90" So, it seems stupid to me but unless you apply for N-400, 6 months before the GC expires you cannot get a I-551 stamp without applying also for a I-90. Not sure why. I think if you apply for N-400 6 months before GC expiration you would be able to get a I-551 stamp if the phisical GC id is missing. 2. We tried to call in and says "Infopass." It tried to connect me with a human but they are currently closed. I can try again tomorrow. But it looks like we need both a I-90 and N-400 applications and then ask for a I-551 stamp based on the I-90 pending. 3. What is the current N-400 processing time? Does it depend on your local office? What is the chance that we will be done with N-400 before July 10? 4. Can you decide the date for the in-person appointments or do they decide the date? What happen if you are abroad and you cannot go?
  15. We tried. They have an automated system that does not let us talk with a person until paperwork is pending.
