  1. i believe it did (been a while now), we're trying again. i'll keep y'all posted.
  2. Good idea, we'll reach out to the consulate and see if they have an answer. I hope they don't redirect us to VFS. As for why we want to get it done, I believe it's illegal to keep the Indian passport after acquiring a second citizenship. Not sure if she would run into any issues when she visits India without renounciation.
  3. Hello - i'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this. @mods please feel free to move this to the correct forum. my spouse is in a weird situation, she got her US citizenship and she did a name change in the process. her US Passport shows name as "X (first) Y (middle) Z (last)". her last Indian passport shows "X Z" with no middle name. Indian passport doesn't show a middle name option so we left that part out when we renewed her Indian passport before she got her US citizenship. now when she filed to renounce her Indian citizenship, the VFS folks denied her application stating that the name on her citizenship document doesn't match the Indian passport name. we re-filed it with the name change affidavit only to get it rejected a second time. She tried reaching out to 3 different attorneys and none of them handle these kind of cases. we are baffled right now and don't know how to proceed. Since she's not technically an Indian citizen anymore (India doesn't allow dual citizenship), it doesn't make sense to change her name in India. She can't get a new Indian passport with "X Y Z" name anymore for the same reason. Any idea folks? I believe we were supposed to add the middle name as part of Given name but it's too late now.
