Use the requirements for US passport photos.  2x2, etc.  If you want to pinch pennies, you can even take your own photo and use an online "passport photo" program to tile 6 identical photos on a 4x6 photo.  Then get it printed at Staples on high quality photo paper, and voila: 6 identical photos for $1.48 or whatever they charge.  Just make sure you follow the guidelines about head size, white background, etc.

That's actually what I did originally when uploading the photos for the I-130 & NVC stage. Since they were out of date though, and to just make sure I wasn't messing up I went and got them done for my interview. At least Walmart is pretty cheap!

Does anyone know if I need my petitioner's original birth certificate? Kind of freaking out that I don't have it, and I don't think it will get here fast enough if he mails it to me now.

Same goes for our his dad, who is our 'joint-sponsor' (household member).... do I need both their originals too???

  2. my interview is coming up, so i’m looking to get new ‘passport style’ photos done. Anyone have a place they recommend, is Walmart fine? They offer canadian passport photo and international (includes US), should I do international and will that b ok ?

one other question, does anyone know whether I need the petitioners original birth certificate ? the website’s checklist is kind of confusing me on the wording. I know I need my original one but are copies of his ok?

Hi friends! I'm registering my husband's visa appointment on the website and I'm at the part where it asks where we want his passport couriered after visa processing. Does it make a difference if we have it couriered to one of the addresses listed or have it couriered straight to our apartment? And also, for the Toronto applicants, is one of these addresses better than the others? It looks like they're all just addresses for random buildings.

    Thanks for your help!

Would also love to know whether anyone has thoughts on this too! Trying to decide what to do myself, but i'm leaning towards having it mailed to me just to avoid driving into the city. Anyone have thoughts on which is best to choose? Is any one choice faster/better?

  4. Is there any issue with my husband being physically in Canada while I attend my interview in Montreal? I remember we each read somewhere that that wasn't the best idea or that we just had to ensure he crossed the border before me or something but I can't find info on that anymore.. would love any personal experiences & whether it was ok. Thank you!

Depends when your interview is relative to when your medical can be booked.

Telus Health isn't the cheapest option, but for us it was a better choice in the grand scheme of things.  We did our medicals in Montreal and stayed the week.  Our medical was 1 week before our interview, so that was just the most cost effective way for the 3 of us to get it done without going back and forth.  We had considered Dr. Cheema (we were in AB), but the airfare and timing didn't work.

Dr. Cheema and the ON panel physicians seem to be able to get people in a bit faster and aren't quite as expensive.  You can take the train or fly from ON to QC easily enough.

There isn't too early a time to go right? I just received my interview letter email overnight (scheduled for June 20th & DQ-ed Feb 1st for anyone interested). I booked the first available medical appt in Vaughan that worked in my schedule (happened to be May 2nd) but I figured I want to do it as soon as I could to ensure everything gets there .. There isn't such a thing as too early right?

  6. Many if not all of the forms we submitted online to the NVC that were filled out & signed were done so digitally (on an iPad & computer). If that's the case, there's not really an 'original copy'... do you think that's okay when showing up to the interview? I assume I'd just bring two copies regardless but there wouldn't an original and a copy in that case. any thoughts on this?

That should be the correct one. Above that says:

    To whom ii may concern:
Your application for personal information held in lhe National
Repository of Criminal Records has been processed. No personal information about you was found in the National Repository of Criminal Records.
For further information please visit the RCMP website at: http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/criminal-record-and-vulnerable- sector-checks
The original fingerprint form containing the fingerprint images used to search the databank has been destroyed.

should also include your name, and date of then fingerprints were taken.

    That’s a relief! I got the prints done on July 12th 2022.

As long as my interview is before that date this year, it will still be valid right?

  8. This has got me thinking whether my police check is ok! I went through commissionaires in Toronto and I remember them trying to make sure what they were doing was correct. Came pretty fast though from what I remember. I’ll attach a screenshot of what mine says, but nowhere on the doc does it mention RCMP national repository entire holdings…no interview scheduled yet but hoping to correct it if necessary beforehand! Thanks a bunch

  9. Hi everyone! Pretty new to this forum but very glad I’ve found it.

We were DQ-ed on February 1st 2023, and awaiting our interview letter. We were married April 22nd 2021, and I’m wondering whether anyone knows if the visa class will change automatically from CR1 to IR1 assuming our interview and approval are after our 2 year anniversary (which I’m pretty sure they will be if processing time remains as long as it is at the moment). Do we need to file anything or will they just automatically have it switched and give me an IR1 visa if our interview is after April 22nd?

    thanks so much in advance!
