  1. Thank you so much for your advice! So helpful!!
  2. This sounds exactly like what I want to do. Can I ask if the rent you get from your home property gets paid in to a UK or US bank account? The thought of losing my little cottage AND losing out on a decent rental profit is killing me! lol
  3. Thanks everyone for your advice!! We have been trying to find a specialist accountant, and someone who knows international tax law, and have spoken to an agency that deals with non-resident landlords in the UK but so far we're not getting the answers we need, but we will keep looking! We are still in the processing stage of our petition (submitted march 2023 VJ est Feb for NVC stage) so hoping we have it sorted before moving on to the next stage. Worst case scenario, we can hold off sending further paperwork to complete the visa until I know fully where we stand with the house. Thanks again!
  4. That only eliminates the selling part. Still no idea where I stand with renting. My mortgage is almost paid off so id have no issues setting up a LTd co and getting it under that. But I don’t want to be taxed through the nose for it. If anyone has any contacts for UK or US based advisors who deal with investment under £1m (the ones I found deal with huge amounts of money and obviously im on a lot smaller scale) I would greatly appreciate it.
  5. I really don’t want to sell it. I want to explore all other options first. wondering if I set up a Ltd company with a family member as director and have them handle it without the need to complicate US taxes. Do I only pay taxes on profit? If I don’t take dividends would this essentially cancel out the complication
  6. I really do not want to sell it. As a lot of people now they invest in property as a way of ensuring a decent pension pot
  7. This doesn’t scare me. I rented from an Australian couple once and never even met them, plus the property is on the same street where a family member lives and family have 5 rentals on that same street.
  8. I’m looking for some advice - I own a property in the UK. I ideally want to keep the property when I move to the US, but want to know what the best options are. Rent it out as a private landlord, rent it out as a UK based Ltd company, rent it out under a US LLC? I’m so lost, so any help is appreciated.
