  1. Good Morning MENA ! I am up early after a sleepless night and noticed no Sunday thread yet? Off to breakfast with some gf's soon...just trying to wake up !! Saw "Everybody's Fine" yesterday with Barrymore and Deniro sans Kleenex

Hope everyone has a great day ! Snow in the forecast for the Pacific NW

  2. Happy Saturday MENA ! It's cold here in WA and snow in the forecast...yikes !!! I am heading to our annual church craft show w/ mom, then out later for an evening of wine tasting with the girls

Anyone seen the movie Precious yet? Early Oscar talk by Oprah (a voting member of the academy) about Monique's performance !!

  3. Jenn, you couldnt have said it better. that is the same exact reason I do not practice organized religion. I feel like if im going to convert I should follow the religion 100% and if I dont have plans to, why give myself the label of being "christian" or "muslim"

What about grace and forgiveness ? None of us will be perfect Christians, Muslims (insert your religion here) as long as we are living in this fallen world. Does that mean I can't call myself a Christian because I struggle in the flesh sometimes, make mistakes, am human and will never be perfect? Does that wipe away my beliefs and faith when I stumble? Or does it mean that I can renew myself and look to God for his mercy and forgiveness, learn from my failings and move on?

    Just food for thought (F)

  4. Bajih ~ I make this awesome "Turkey Wreath" each year that is a filling of diced turkey, mayo, celery, dried cranberries, swiss cheese and some seasonings all wrapped in cresent roll dough to form a wreath and baked to crispy perfection. It's really yummy and I also serve it for Christmas Brunch

  5. Happy Black Friday ! I am making my traditional day after sandwich w. turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and bourbon sweet potatoes on the side. I am not brave or crazy enough to be out in the madness, but my son just got his first credit card and is out shopping for a new computer for me

Hope everyone has a great day (F)

  6. Cassandra ~ I still would like to try the deep fried turkey sometime. I know my friends on the East Coast have mede it and they said it was real good, but as you said probably depends who makes it. I am not a black Friday shopper, so will be sleeping in. Actually, the only thing I may be interested in getting are some movies tomorrow. I love giving the gift of movies for Christmas. :pop:

  7. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone & have an awesome day! :star:

I'm off to do some cooking now and watch the Macys Thanskgiving Day parade!!

(have a lil' bit of the spiced egg nog too!)

    Take care (F)

I slept thru most of the parade :o Usually I am up early watching the parade, cooking and waiting for my guests. We are at my bro's now and he decided not to deep fry the turkey after all. I really do like the traditional basted, with the gravy !!! I usually put quarted oranges in the cavity and baste with those juices also...yummy !

Tamara ~ Your menu sounds awesome

I hope you all have a great, relaxing day !

  8. LOL...Tamara ! I usually host and do alot of the cooking, but this year we are going to my brother's. (He is deep frying the turkey outdoors, I have never had it that way.) I made 2 Pumpkin Pies today and always do the green bean casserole and my special Bourbon candied yams

I am thankful for so much: my son's recovery, having a warm home w/ lots of equity, choices, kindness of others, freedom, and God's grace and mercy every day (F)

  9. YAY! It's Wednesday! (F)

Wish me luck on my fooking turkey cooking skillzzz  If I post this weekend about pizza rolls...ya'll will know what happened! :P

    Laterzzz!!!

Hey Mena~ Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving eve ! I'll be stopping after work to pick up the hot-buttered rum fixins. I buy this gourmet mix every year made with real ice cream then add the Captain Morgan's spiced Rum

Annie ~ Tips for the turkey. Slather the breast liberally with olive oil then a little butter. This will give you awesome basting juices a flavorful gravy base. Call me if you need help...

  10. Hello Henia (F)

I hope you are well and congratulations on your new baby blessing (L) I pray you are recovering fully and everything is going fine for you and your family. Waiting for pics of your new little bundle! BTW, I love your blog and visit it often for culinary inspiration

  11. Henna, I'm glad to hear that your son is improving.. He will be in our thoughts and prayers to be sure.. I hope he can get lots of rest and fully recover soon.. God bless you both.. (F)(L)(F)

    Sarah

Thanks ! finally able to relax, get caught up and rested. I think this is the worst feeling for a parent to have a sick child and feeling so helpless. I pray for your little one as well (F) Seeing that pic of your newborn and it's hard to believe mine is 21 now, but will always be my baby

  12. Happy Saturday MENA (F) Did anyone see the new Twilight movie? My niece is a HUGE fan and I will take her when she visits from AZ for Christmas. We went together last year to the first one. If she were not coming tho I could certainly wait for the DVD

Henna, I have to admit i've never seen anything that has to do with Twilight. I've seen people

talk about everywhere, but I haven't a clue what is involved with it. I just wonder if there are

    "others" like me!!

Here's your crash course in Twilight ~ A very popular series of Vampire books by Stephanie Meyer that quickly garnered an occult following. The first movie was released last year during the Holidays. Teenage girls are again swooning as they dedicate themselves to team Edward or team Jacob. Personally, I tend to favor a hunky Werewolf over a skinny Vampire

Are you totally confused now? Honestly, if my niece were not so into it and I did not live here in WA state where the first one was filmed, I would be clueless also. There are some big Twilight fans here in MENA tho...where are they all hiding

  14. Good news to report ! Nathan's fever is reducing, he's more responsive and lucid and showing other subtle signs of improvement. I felt the power of your prayers last night (F) I know that God's healing hands were covering my boy. It was so scary, I am very relieved right now !!!

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers (L)
