  1. I am a US citizen trying to bring my mother to the US and having a hard time going through NVC. NVC three times reviewed my documents and found them insufficient because we didn't have "birth certificate" in the file. Birth certificates don't exist in South Korea. I went to the state dept site and got the documents that substitute for birth certificate. I got through the phone line with NVC and also email inquiries - each time they gave me reasonable next steps but when I followed their direction, it got rejected every time. Now I contacted my senator (Kirsten Gilibrand of NY) but It has been 3 weeks since I submitted the casework and haven't heard a thing yet. My dad's case got approved with the same documents earlier this year. What else can I do in this case to move the case forward?
