  1. Hi everyone!

My husband and I have already been through our journey, citizenship is our next step when he's ready for it. However, I have a friend who is in the midst of hers. Her husband is in England and will be going to the London embassy for his interview. They're waiting for the date and have received the request to fill out forms for the embassy. They're unclear whether they BOTH have to fill out the DS-230 or if only HE has to fill it out. It's been several years since we did ours and it was in Canada, so I wasn't 100% sure what they would need. I hoped someone here might be able to clarify for her.

    Thanks!

  2. I had the toughest AOS case one could think of, and everybody was waving a red flag at me even on visajourney. From the moment the AOS interviewing officer saw my wife was 8 month pregnant, I knew from his attitude he had made up his mind. The interview went more like a job interview that has already been awarded to me. Regardless of what members say here(Most don't have the pride of being parents) I know that a Birth certificate of your child from the marriage is the MOST heavily weighted document in your application. Stick around and my case decision will prove that fact.

I'm glad your interview went so smoothly! However, I would argue whether that happened solely because of your wife's pregnancy. It was a slightly different situation, but when we attended my husband's K1 interview we were able to listen to the interviews before us. With both couples the interviewer was suspicious-sounding and not helpful. When we went up the same interviewer was incredibly easy on us and passed us with only a few questions asked. I wasn't pregnant, so obviously that didn't play a part. Unless you specifically asked the examiner, it could have been anything about you, your wife, your packet, or (most likely) the way you interacted with each other before you even said a word.

  3. We had a baby during my husband's conditional permanent residency and we did not receive any RFEs during filing. We did however provide a large amount of additional financial evidence including receipts of several vacations together, two mortgages with both of our names (house and time share), joint credit cards, joint bank accounts, and a joint car loan. For our baby we sent in his birth certificate, pictures of us together in the hospital while I was in labor, and pictures of us all together when he was a couple of months old. Our son was only born a few months before we filed, so we didn't have any financial evidence relating to him. So, no RFEs, but our non-baby related evidence was extremely solid, so I doubt we would have had an RFE either way. I don't think our son's existence tipped the balance at all.

  4. When you meet an oncoming school bus displaying flashing amber lights, you must slow down to no more than 20 mph and be prepared to stop. If the red lights are flashing or if the stop arm is out, you must come to a complete stop at least 15 feet from the bus. You must remain stopped as long as the red lights flash or the stop arm is out.

The only exception to this is where you are approaching the bus from the opposite direction on a road with at least two lanes in each direction.

When overtaking a school bus, you may not pass when red or amber warning lights are flashing.

After a school bus has stopped to let students off, watch for children on the side of the road.

EXACTLY my point! My point was it isn't spelled out in black and white "No matter what direction you are travelling in, or what side of the road the bus is on, you must stop". It's asking you to find it obvious from "the only exception is when you're approaching from the opposite direction with 2 lanes". I speak English and I still find it confusing. Especially as "the only exception" follows several statements, such as the distance, length of time to remain stopped, speed etc. It's a poorly worded manual. I hated reading it.

I actually thought it was pretty clear... Oncoming means it's going the opposite direction, overtake means you're going the same direction.

  5. drogs, what makes me more made is when I saw that some of the March fillers have been approved after just two months for CSC if those people in Vermont are not capable of dealing wth high volume of cases, they should send some to CSC. They did that to me first time I applied for CR1 so it is not impossible!!!

I remember wishing they would do this with my K1, only in the opposite direction. When we sent in our K1 VSC was processing them in 2-3 months, CSC was 6-7 months. It was so weird to come back when we were doing AOS and now ROC to see everyone saying how fast CSC was and how slow VSC was! I guess they have to make up for time somewhere.

  6. They are on the list of suggested evidence, but if you have other evidence you don't need them. I believe I read somewhere on VJ that they are not seen as really solid evidence because it would be too easy to get a friend or family member to write a false affidavit. It certainly wouldn't HURT to send them, but you won't be approved based entirely on them, either. They're just icing (like pictures). We did not send any affidavits and we've been approved.

Edited: We didn't have an interview, either. They just approved us based on the evidence we mailed in. We had really solid financial comingling (two mortgages and a car), I don't know how much that helped, but it was there.

  7. Looks like you have everything covered to me. :) Just make sure your account statements cover two years worth (for example, don't send in January, February, March, and April of this year...make sure it covers 2009 and 2010, too). I sent in statements for every fifth month. Here is the list of evidence we sent for my husband:

    Copy of his green card

Copy of the 2010 property assessment on our home showing both of our names

Copies of mortgage documents from our time share purchase

Copies of our joint tax returns for 2009 and 2010

Copies of bank statements from our joint account

Copy of our car contract of sale

    Copy of joint credit cards

Various bills showing common address from our apartment from 2008-2009

Various bills showing common address from our house from 2009-present

Copy of his life insurance policy showing me as beneficiary

Copy of itinerary from our 2010 trip to Hawaii

Copy of our son’s birth certificate

Various pictures from holidays, vacations, and special occasions

  8. If you are filling out your own ROC forms you just sign it your name! if the USC or someone doing the forms for you is filling out the ROC forms he/she would sign section #8. I realize that, what I am asking though is since I am initially filling out my husbands file would I need to place my signature in part 8 also, even though I already signed part 7 for spouse.

 Someone might come and correct me, but I believe they only require that be signed if it was filled out by someone like a lawyer. I filled out my husband's form and I did not sign there. :)

  9. I started the entire process near the end of January... The only letter that arrives with both our names is the monthly bank statement. And ever since she came to the US, we've never emailed or mailed each other.

Include letters (especially official ones: government, bills, library, anything like that) sent to each of you individually, but at the same address. Many of our bills have only one or the other of our names on them and we each have our own credit cards (we have a couple of joint credit cards, too), so I included copies of mail, even if it was sent to just one of us, highlighted where it said the name and address and put a note saying something along the lines of "mail to each of us arriving at the same address."

  10. I don't know about being in the country when you actually send it in, but they will schedule a biometrics appointment for your wife at your local processing center and she MUST attend that appointment. They may also schedule an interview before they approve the petition and she would be required to be in the country for that as well. I would recommend just waiting until the last possible moment to file for ROC, then have her come home. Where would you be filing? We filed at CSC and it was approved in about two months (I know VSC is taking much longer to process). She could always come home for the duration of the pending petition, then go back after she receives her new green card. That may be your only option short of allowing her status to be revoked, then starting the immigrations process from scratch. Good luck!

  11. Well folks, I just got a text and email to let me know that we had a status update....CARD PRODUCTION ORDERED!! :D :D

  12. I would be so mad if I was you!! As others have said, I would wait until tomorrow and hopefully USPS will have gotten you an answer. If you haven't gotten confirmation from them by Wednesday I would call USCIS to ask what you should do. Hopefully you kept a copy of your packet and can just copy it again. If you didn't, I would highly recommend doing so once you put the new packet together. I make a complete copy of every single thing I send to USCIS (I still have a copy of my entire K1 packet from three years ago). Good luck!

  13. me too, but the guy didn't like me... he said my fingers are bad, and some of them got rejected by the computer. So happy that is done, and now the waiting continues :)

My husband's are done as well. His also had to re-do a couple of fingers because they didn't come out right. The place was pretty much empty when we went in for his appointment. It only took 15-20 minutes. Now back to just waiting.

Just curious and to get people talking...how did you originally come into the US? If it was spousal based, how did you meet your spouse? Dennis came from Canada on a K1 visa to marry me in 2009. We met in 2005 while playing World of Warcraft, but didn't get into any sort of a romantic relationship until 2007 when we met in person for the first time.
