  1. just have him get the shots here for cheap at a public clinic or he could end up having to take them twice. He will need MMR (measles Mumps Rubella) Varicela chicken pox unless he had it (The disease) TD. He will also need to have a TB test once he is here.

  2. When my wife was at the interview she just told them that she did not ask me because she felt it was my personal business. She did know but felt that the consular had no business in it.

wow Congratulations! thank you for this write up.

Can I ask you if I have to know the entire details of your husband's past divorce? Do I have to ask him details about it? Just wondering coz I know the reason and I did ask for the exact details, but I don't feel comfortable sharing this information with anyone else.

    thanks

  3. Include the pay stubs and a letter from your employer stating what your current income is. Also include 06 & 07 taxes any assets, co-signer if possible. The Embassy there is known to be the hardest regarding income in the world. Ask me how I know lol.

    Good luck with it.

on those 4 months i made only 4k, working as part time
  4. Thank you!

I would not say cakewalk for all, there was 1 skinny interviewer guy, he called someone, told them he wants to look through their paperwork they brought in a tone that did not set well with us. He took the paperwork and told them to sit back down and wait which at that point seemed very unusual. Thank God we did not get called by him. We did not see anyone exit the interviewing area while we were waiting. Walking out of there everyone was staring at our reactions...we couldnt help but smile and laugh.

Where we sat I could see "room 8" which is where you drop your notice, it seems like they divide them up amongst the different interviewers in some way maybe like country of origin or how complete the files are. The guy we had was familiar with the Philippines and even greeted my wife in her native language.

In retrospect: As soon as we were at his office and ready to sit down he told us to stop and that he would swear us in... he stared into "my" eyes as he swore us in through the entire process and not my wifes for an instant, I'll bet that has a lot to do with success or not in there. Imagine if you are knowingly doing something wrong, bet they can see it in your eyes. They know who is who I'm sure. Your whole application will be in a folder with everything you sent in. It was tabbed with 5 or 6 different colored tabs so I am sure they know what they need to watch for. I tried to get a better look at how it was organized but where I sat didnt allow much more than a peek at it.

Good luck with it and make sure you PM me after the interview.

Awesome!! 0ur interview is in Detroit on Tuesday. From what I hear Detroit is a cake walk. I hope ours goes that smoothly. We too share the less than desirable income issue. Anyway, A BIG congratulations to you both!!

Thank you for posting your experience.

Did they say you would get your GC in 7 to 10 days?

  5. Surprisingly we were approved today, card in 3-6 weeks. Your letter should come soon. We met 2 couples today one with a much older time line and another that just applied in December so who can tell. Guess it's luck of the drew.

We applied sept 8 and interview is tomorrow. Our online status has not changed we just got a letter in the mail.

Thanks for sharing. I never know about the government! We'll just have to wait to see how it goes. Thanks for all the support!

  6. We are the luckiest people on here! I have been worried since I first met my wife regarding my income. Self employed and report less than desirable income. Contested a denial in Manila and had it reversed probably really helped as they red flagged due to the income issue and did not look through the rest of the papers. This was the big win!

    Appointment in Detroit: :crying:

Sworn us in and asked all the mandatory things on questionnaire :innocent:

    Approved and stamped

    Thats it!

Everything is pre-screened by workers and the interviewer themselves prior to the appointment thus my surprise with no RFE's

    DId not ask for ID's

Did not ask to see passport

    No I-693

Did not ask for vaccinations or TB test

    No co-sponsor

Did not ask for tax returns

Did not ask for bank statements

    I-864 not signed

Did not ask for proof of co-habitation

    Did not ask for pictures

Today was a good day... (Thinks Ice Cube-It Was A Good Day)

Follow the directions on this forum and organize everything very well.

Submit more documentation than required, I believe the more you submit the less the chance of them spotting anything that might be lacking.

Make sure everything is correct and use a cover letter documenting everything in your package.

Thats all I can think of right now, still kinda in shock about the whole thing.

  7. you say she didn't look farther into your package, something red flagged her, what did she look at that you know? It might not be the last thing as they see a red flag and pretend to look farther only to eventually stop as was in our (visa) interview case. We have AOS appt next week and I am sure there will be lots of flags flying.. but maybe not. As of the lease agreement and stuff, we are going only with the banking letter, why would I put my wife's name of things that she would be responsible for if I declare bankruptcy? I will throw that on the table if they look into that.

  8. Right here is where the problem started:

We got into the interview and they started asking my wife (an F1 overstay) and I (USC) the basic questions which seemed to go okay. The rest of the interview proceeded very, very strangely.

The IO didn't ask the questions you expected because she found a red flag, once they see this the interview is done. You will need to wait for the papers to see what they are looking for. The good thing about this is once you provide what they want they will ignore the rest of the interview as if it was already completed. This is how it went in my wife's visa interview when she was denied because of my lack of income. I went to the top people and had the decision reversed and the rest of the interview was disregarded. Visa picked up 2 days later.

    Good luck!

  9. my goodness what a mess, NO she should not be working without a work permit.

what is the radar he said?

Radar is a system that uses electromagnetic waves to identify the range, altitude, direction, or speed of both moving and fixed objects such as aircraft, ships, motor vehicles, weather formations, and terrain. The term RADAR was coined in 1941 as an acronym for radio detection and ranging.

Yep, they are used in many cases for automatic door openers.

so its ok to her to work now ? it wont affcet on her aos interview?

    Two separate questions.

    1. No, there are no lie detectors used in AOS interviews.

    2. No it is not ok for her to work without EAD. (Employment Authorization Document)
