  1. We were in the same exact position My now husband came here for a visit January 11 2007 and then married March 30. We had some extenuating circumstances though and even though my husband did not really have much to come back to the UK only a job offer and he lived with his parents. But we filed all the paperwork right after his VWP stay was up. We had to wait for the medical ( which he had here locally) then sent it all in. our interview which was in Buffalo took about 3 minutes and no questions were asked about intent... so do not leave and just file the paperwork as soon as possible

    good luck!

  2. My two cents...my husband was here on VWP we got married 2 weeks before his i94 expired we filed for AOS 2 days before that date.. we just had our interview and were approved with no questions asked... this was also after he was turned down for a an extended tourist visa and a stern warning about how many times he has been here to visit, yet when he came in the last time before we ended up getting married he proved he had ties back to the UK... ( we still have to get back there though so he can close his bank accounts we are running out of money!! LOL) anyway there is no amount of advice really it all depends on your case and the person that you interview with in my opinion... just file ASAP and wait and see

  3. nothing, he did not ask us for anything. we brought though a copy of our car insurance with both names on it. a storage unit lease, joint checking accounts. and i added David to a few of my credit cards as an authorized user,we also have joint museum and zoo membership cards and lots of pictures and cards to each other. just in case we also brought letters from our parents and a few friends stating that they were happy for us etc... we did not need to show anything though!

  4. Hi all

We just got back to our hotel after a 2 minute interview

    We were so nervous!

we got there 40 minutes early went thru the security, gave our appt letter to a woman and then were directed to a room upstairs. we gave our letter then to another man and he said to wait

There was one other couple in the room and they were called at 2:30 by a man that i thought loooked me and thought i do not want him

then 3 minutes later the couple came out. Then another couple came out that must have been in the room for a while. Then 2:28 we were called by the mean looking man! oh no i thought. so we go into his office, he asks how we were, then swore us in.

He then asked for my husbands passport, then asked him his name, birthdate,. parents name. Then if he was every arrested, deported etc...Then asked me my name and birthdate and 2 paystubs from my job. Then he said March 20th was a big day have you been separated at all since that day? we both looked at him and said no but what is march 20th? we got married on march 30th , he said ok where was your wedding and was it just the 2 of you? we said where it was and that my family and our friends form here were there and my husbands family watched on webcam , he said thats cool, well today is an important day , you are now a legal resident of the usa, stamped passport, said you should get greencard in 2 weeks. thanks for bringing all the evidence but that is only needed in complicated cases and yours is straightforward. I asked him if he was sure he did not want to look at the photo album he just laughed... no questions were asked about aos from vwp or anything! so relieved!!!

  5. how funny

we have two puppies a boy and girl

and their names are branston & pickles as my husband had to have something English

also he taught our 3 year old to say "jog on sunshine" to everybody

and hey i like marmite so us americans need to give it a chance!

  6. Good luck Heliosphan! i have my interview today too!!! a little nervous but think we are ok! we have tons of photos, cards, a storage unit lease with both our names on it, joint bank accounts and credit cards. The only thing that worries me is we are missing 2 things from our original package, a letter from my dad about our relationship and a letter from D's mom about his name change. His mom sent a new one so fingers crossed! oh and we printed out all the forms 1485, i130, g325a, etc. with all the info in it. .. but never made copies of the signed ones? is that a huge deal! god i hope not there is nothing we can do about it now!!

  7. We did plan on doing k1 then circumstances changed with the pregnancy and loss that happened when my SO was here in January, in fact my divorce was not filed much less finalized BEFORE he came here in January therefore we could have no intent on marrying when he entered the country . I know its tough for all of us to be separated from our loved ones, we have friends that are going through this and we were completely prepared to go through it ourselves. Yet as i have stated things changed and I could not have survived physically and emotionally without my SO here with me to take care of me and my 3 year old daughter. This was our decision and i do not see why us or anyone else for that matter should "pay the price" for filing AOS from here. The easy way? Hmm yes almost dying from an ectopic pregnancy having emergency surgery, and losing two unborn children was definitely not the easy way thank you very much. If we had planned this to avoid the "waiting game" and committed fraud then yes i could understand the anger in people that are waiting for the K1 but for people that are legitimately filing AOS after deciding to get married in the US, i think there are other things to worry about like people that are not in true relationships etc... we are all in the same situation one way or another and should be here to support each other and not criticize one another... i wish everyone good luck on their journey

  8. I am glad there are some people with the same situation. We were planning on taking photos, a letter from his mom she left it here for us when she visited last week so it is not notarized or anything, joint bank statements, the credit cards that i added him to as authorized user, we have no bills in both our names as they are all in my name because i had all the accounts set up already but i have the receipts for the heating bill he paid etc , we are also taking a letter from my Doctor as evidence of our pregnancy losses which seems a bit morbid but it is the reason we decided to get married when we did... i hope it all goes smoothly ... Good luck everyone...

  9. we did not go through the k1 because of certain circumstances , our interview date is coming... does anyone have any advice for our interview? what to bring besides copies of everything we filed and relationship evidence? thanks

From the time you got engaged in July 2007 and your marriage in March 2008, was your husband in the US the entire time?

\No he was not , he was here a few months 2 x and i was in England once. Funny story about the engagement .. i said yes because we were in front of thousands of people but then after we decided that it would not be right to be engaged until my divorce was final so he reproposed to me the night before our wedding .... it was pretty silly really

  10. Hello all

We have our interview date for 1/28 in Buffalo

it says initial interview? does that mean we will have more than 1?

my husband has his EAD and AP ..

wondering what to expect in interview. We did not go K1 we filed AOS after we were married while my husband was here on VWP ... story of why we did it that way is in our signature

    wondering what to expect!?

  11. Wow - I am on the last form now - AP... do we really need to write a letter to explain why we want AP?!?! That is lame!!

    Hey Jeraly

Glad to see you have now had your official wedding :)

I would put lots of details on AOS so that you actually get it. My Dad ( this is David by the way ) was having major surgery and I needed to tie up lots of loose ends but you do have to be very specific.

We have our interview at the end of October for AOS so fingers crossed I will be a resident real soon B)

  12. I think its time to get a co-sponsor and send in his sponsorship with proof. Or you could try a detailed letter explaining how you make 125% of poverty line now - but I would be more inclined to do the co-sponsor route. Good Luck

    Thanks

A co sponser is almost impossible , my parents own their own businesses and they do not have tax returns etc and I do not know if they would do it anyway. I do make enough with child support included but I have no proof of that except for the part in my divorce agreement that states what he pays! I am sending the letter stating that I meet it with the child support and that now my job is year round so I will make over the 125% without my child support included in 2008, i hope thats enough
