  3. I'm going to fax it to him on saturday

what is the dress code for the interview? Jeans and Tims ok? or some dress slacks and shirt w/shoe's?

Firstly congrats to Gill!! We got approved on Tuesday as well!!!! You can wear whatever you want. There is no dresscode. If you have any shyness get rid of it because they talk to you through a speaker where everyone can hear what they say to you! We went there early, checked in. You have to the appt letter in your hand before they will let you in and they check for your name on the list. You go through security and metal detectors, and then take a short walk bacak to where the actual embassy is. You go to the check-in desk, the space is so small so make sure you stand where you can fit, but also so no one tries to take your spot in line. I carried a folder with dividers and all the forms very organized. The reception guy was so impressed. He asked for 4 photos, the DS 156/DS 157, the police, birth, non-impediment, and passport. He checked them and gave us a number and we went in and took a seat in section A. They called our number and requested the same docs the recptionist did, plus my tax info and I-134. She was tossing our stuff around, guess she was having a bad day, but then she asked me to stand to the left and let Andrew be in the center. She checked the docs, kept them and told us to proceed to section B. In section B, you just wait to be called for fingerprinting. Andrew had trouble with this. He is an electrical technician at Federated Pharmaceutical and they work him to the bone literally. The guy had trouble trying to get his fingerprints because they were rubbed off a bit. After that you proceed to section C. This is where you can hear everyone's interview. So many people got denied or turned around because they didn't have all the docs. If you can go with your fiance to this interview..please do! Those who were there without their partner were given a very hard time. Everyone was getting denied left and right and you could hear every reason why...not all the docs, not making enough money, one guy was being fraudulent. He had tried to sneak into the US before. Lots of people were lying when asked questions.....how did you meet, when, when did you get engaged, how, how do you know they love you, where is proof....ect. It was so scary to watch. Then our number was called....we got to the window and had to swear to tell the truth. She asked us how long we have been talking Andrew said Dec. 23, 2005..I said...no, it's 2006. Then she asked how we met and he said myspace.com. Then she got hard in asking well how is it the two of you got together, do you want to marry everyone there, do you date all who sends you a message...just gave him a hard time. He stutters a bit at times, but this time he was having an extremely hard time, so I asked if I could answer, she was rude and said no..he should no for himself. Finally she let me answer, truth is he went blank. Then she asked him when the wedding was and we said June and she told me in my statement of intent I out April, and I said yeah because I didn't know Jamaica would take so long so we had to push it back! Then she asked him what kind of work I do and he answered. Then she granted us the visa. Told us to have a happy marriage! I should have been happy, which I was, but I was so upset with Andrew because he forgot and tensed up..we went to airpack just across the street, and then we left. I apologized to Andrew, we made up and had a great day and I am looking forward to him being here soon. His family is not so happy because he is leaving. They feel like he is abandoning them. his mom won't speak to him and all....so much. if they only would remember how they felt when they found love..once you find it, you do what you have to to keep it and help it grow. We also went to the movies that night. It was his first time there at Carib. We went to see Step Up 2. I had already watched it before. It was a lovely evening and now my family and I are just awaiting his arrival....and our big day...June 7, 2008 @ 2pm!!! To God be the glory for all He has done!! He is good all the time and all the time He is good!!! Sorry so long, but I want you to have as much info about going to the interview as possible. If anyone has any questions, let me know. God bless you all!!

    Congratulations on the approval!!

Marla did'nt get denied, the lady told her everything will be fine just bring back proof of the file I-130. Did you have that form at the interview?

Thank you! I don't even know what the I-130 is. Honestly never heard of it. Are you K-1 or K-3? I am K-1. Maybe that may be the difference. I can ask my lawyer for you if you need me too. I hope I didn't offend you. I wasn't talking about Marla in particular with the denials and all. There were so many!! Anyhow, let me know so I can look into it for you or gather info if I can. We are all in this together!! Be blessed!!

No you did'nt offend me at all......K1 does'nt file I-130 ........I think all we have to do is wait for a follow-up appt to be sheduled but any extra info is always great. What day is your husband coming to America? Bought plane tickets? And how much?

Cool!! I am trying to get him here this weekend. I have not brought the plane tickets yet just in case it takes longer than intended. He's not my hubby yet...June 7th will be the day :)!! This airpak express people never answer their phone. They have a visa tracking link, but it is not accepting the info so I just emailed them and I am still trying to call to get a status update. Again...it is the waiting game.

I hope he gets to you this weekend, Delta is the cheapest tickets i can find through expedia.com

And, try this # 202-663-1225 they can tell you if the visa has been issued (printed). Hit 1 then 0 and you will speak to an operator, give them your kng#

Thanks Jason......I will have to keep this number handy

I wonder how long after you get approve you will be able to call and check status.

  8. Claire I just realized you were in NVC for a LONG time! Almost as long as the complete process for some folks, so I can see why your freakin out on the interview date time.

I read on the embassy site that they schedule certain types of visa on certain dates only, so it is not a free for all, they have some sort of system to it. i am guessing cause of the nature of immigrant visas or family based visas, or work visas, or visitor visas, they just want the CO to be able to handle it. On average it was seeming like at least 2 months after NVC approval to get the interview date. I think they interview Mon and Wed only or something like that. Thats why the K1's were tuesdays and thursdays.

Marlita, Mike's papers have been at the NVC since 2000, so that is 7 years sitting on a shelf until his priority date was reached which was in July of 2007. Now I have read somewhere where the embassy takes 2-4 months to schedule interviews. That is freaking crazy. Dimples' case was completed on 11/28/07 and her interview appointment is 3/18/08. That is almost a 4 month wait, yet K-1s get their interview appointment really fast. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Boy I tell you, these people drive me absolutely beserk :wacko::angry::angry:

I agree with you totally some people have all the luck and then some of us have to worry and wait while somebody else holds our faith.

  9. How are interviews scheduled anyways? Do they set aside certain amount of interview appointments for K-1, K-3, IR-1, CR-1, visitors, working visas? Or do they just randomly schedule them, as the applications are approved? Any thoughts or ideas on this for you experienced ones?

well I'm not sure but I thought I would share when NVC completed my case on 11/28/08 and case transfered to Kingston on 02/04/08 and I did not get appointment/interview date notice until the february 6th for interview date 03/18/08

No I-130 in the K-1 process.

No I-130 is not for the K-1 process that is only for K3 where you have to file the I-130 and then the I-129f

for the K1 you only file the I-129f

  12. Hi Jason,

My cousin's interview last year lasted about 2.5 hours for no reason at all. When she asked what if things were missing, the CO told her she has to make sure. It's not only how a person answers the questions but your demeanor and expressions plays a part in it. She had to remember where she was, so she didn't lose her compusure. A lot of the questions the CO asked were uncessary and repeated 3 or more times. By cousin and her husband were married 4 months after knowing each other, but during the process he had been to Jamaica 9 times to see her and had a house built there. I don't know how much more proof you need. After being interviewed for 2.5 hours by two different people she was finally told she was approved. She said, she had no time to be happy, she was too angry. How is fraud determined? How makes the final call?

The CO may have seen something in the couples past and had doubts about it.

Kingston is a high fraud Embassy due to visa fraud and having a high number of deportations. That' why we always recommend the USC to attend the interview. We noticed the CO seem to give the interviewee a harder time if the USC isn't present sometimes. And if the USC can't make the interview....please make sure they have EVERYTHING (on the list and more..especially the approval letter) and it's organized.....

I didn't send my husband the approval notice that I-130 application was approved do you think I should fax that to him just to be on the save side?

  13. it's mostly cause visa fraud is so plentiful in JA why are so exact with everyone..most of the interviers are American

Exactly.....visa fraud. Plus, let's face it, it's come up again and again when couples have had problems on this site, that they didn't know each other well enough from the beginning.

We have had the worst luck and experience with the embassy, I know I married my wife on the 2nd visit but its true love and i think for any marriage to last for what we go through with the waiting and still be together and in love is a marriage that will make it. I have had a total of 4 visits with my wife in the last year with one of the visits lasting a month, so I can say i know my wife well and I do know I have a lot to learn, but we are very compatible.

EXACTLY........THEY NEED TO LOOK @ THE NEW YORK GOVERNOR BECAUSE HE'S THE BIGGEST FRAUD OUT THERE....HMMMMM

  14. HEY THANKS FOR THE INFO. WE WELL I WANTED TO GO SOMEPLACE WHERE WE CAN JUST BE TOGETHER. NO HASSELS OR FUSS. I AM ONLY THERE FOR 4 DAYS AND DONT WANT TO TRAVEL TOO FAR FROM KINGSTON. CAN ANYONE SUGGEST A NICE SECLUDED HOTEL? MIND YOU NOT TO PRICEY.

    THANKS

I don't know of any in the PMore area........did you try discoverjamaica.com?

  15. Marla called the embassy this morning, they told her we don't have to schedule another interview, just a blue sheet interview. Which we should get one within 2 weeks.

Marla said the woman who done the interview was very rude and did'nt believe that we had a true marriage because I married her the second time I went to Jamaica. But Marla gave it to her and the lady finally said everything will be ok just bring proof of I-130 that it was filed. The lady even had to write that in on the blue paper there was no check box for that. She was just trying to find a reason to prolong this. Anyways, hopefully i will Marla within 4-5 weeks.

They kill me who's marriage isn't real don't have problems as much as those who's marriage is for real. the nerve of them. I married my husband the 3rd time I went to visit him what the going to tell me that's was 2 soon. BS!!!!!!!!

    Just stay strong!!!!!!!!!

Yeah! Who is she to say that you didn't just love your now wife so much that you wanted to be right by her and marry her soon?! This is sooooo stupid and a cultural thing. Not everyone has to wait 2 years and date, then move in for a year to finally realize they should get engaged, and stay that way for ANOTHER year and then.....oh yeah....GET MARRIED. Geesh!! 16.

Geesh!! I married my husband after 10 months of knowing him, and only the 3rd time visit to see him. i woulda married him within 5 months if i could've afforded to get over there earlier.

  17. If you all really want to see a nice place go visit May Pen  Nothing like hanging out at the local Tiger Mart (gas station) for entertainment on the weekends  Oh the memories.

I haven't been to MayPen since I was a little kid. I always wanted to go to Negril and Port Antonio.

Last year I went home it was for my parents house opening and the year before that was my uncles I haven't been home to be a tourist yet.

  18. I went to Portmore last year and went to Hillshire (lil' ochie better).....nothing that impress me about it. the houses just bunch up next to each other. It's not a place that i could go visit more than a few hours.

a want yuh lefmi yard alone yuh hear mi..yuh cyaa appreciate wah yuh never had..so gwaan

my girl......manchester (mandeville) might not have beach but we have some of the most beautiful homes. You should take a drive around there sometimes.
