I got my oath Ceremony yesterday (San Antonio)! Almost 800 people got their citizenship!!! the place was huge!!! Had to have a lots of patience and something to read as we had to wait over 2 hrs while they seated everybody. The ceremony itself wasnt too long.

As of yesterday, I am a citizen!!!!

Ok... i am getting a little bit stressed... my interview was in June 20, the uscis web page said I was approved on june 22 and they said the oath ceremony letter will arrive in 3 weeks... it's already been more than a month!!! i was looking at jan, feb, march filers and looks like the San Antonio office is running slow.... my brain tells me all is ok but i hate waiting!!!!!

I had my interview on Wednesday, they were running 30 to 40 minutes late but the people waiting for their interview was cool so we spent most of the time talking on the waiting room. I had taken original wedding documents, my husbands old divorce decree, my 2 passports (one expired), extra passport pictures, my husbands birth certificate and his passport too. I did not take any irs papers as the ones on my file were the original ones. From all those papers.... he didn't ask for any.... from my point of view it was more taking what they asked for "just in case"

the interview started, the officer asked me if i respect the constitution, if i am willing to bear arms for the united states and them made we swear i will say the truth

then he started with all the questions from the form, asking me my name, address, phone and all the other questions....

He also kinda insisted on knowing why my husband and I don't have kids.... he asked like 3 times!!! he even asked if it was personal or medical reasons!!! i told him we like to travel a lot and a kid is a lot of responsibility and actually because of the same reason we don't even have a dog!!! then he kinda stopped pushing on it

He also asked why i was not on my husbands home loan, i said because my lack of credit was going to raise the interest rate... he shook his head and continued...

then he asked me to write my name in one of the forms and then he asked me to write my name in cursive!!!! cursive!!!!! last time i remember i used cursive was in elementary school!!! more than 20 years ago.... and in another language!!!! this was the most difficult part for me!!! i had to ask him how to do an "r" in cursive cause i could not remember!!!

then we started with the civics test... i had to read 3 short easy sentences somethin like what is the state with the most population or something like that, then the written part he said to write down "california is the state with the most po;ulation" and then the civics questions... this is what i remember:

-about the women that fought for civil rights

-who was the father of the country

-who was the speaker of the house

don't remember anything else....

the funny part is that every question i would ask he would do a check mark on a paper but after the 6 checks he kept asking!!! until i confused the speaker of the house with the vice president.

then he said i was suggested for approval, gave me the paper showing i passed all the tests and i need to wait for 2 to 3 weeks for a letter on my mail with the info for the oath ceremony time and date.

So starting today i will be checking my mail every each other day waiting for that letter!!!

Hope this helps calming some nerves, it was always my idea that if I follow the rules and procedures there is no reason to get denied!!! the rest is paperwork and patience!

i got my first green card on february 2009, last time i checked my credit score was 760. First i got a job. it was an awful and didn't pay too much but it was a job. This allowed me to get my first credit card with a 500$ credit limit. My husband also added me as a user of a couple of his credit cards but i don't think that affected my credit score.

Eventually after working for a while they raised the 500 to 900. During that time we also bought some sofas in Rooms to go and got a credit on my name with him as cosigner. paid it off in 2 years instead of 3 that was the agreement.

Then one day at the bank they told me i was eligible for another cc... this time they gave me 1500$ credit limit

Also we bought a used car from a relative and we went to our credit union and got a credit on my name with him as cosigner. also paid it off.

at least 2 times i spent more than my credit card limit but i never had any problem with that because both times they would just increase my limit! i guess kinda lucky!!!

now we both are debt free (except for house mortage that i am not in as my previous lack of credit would increase the interest rate) and my credit is getting much better!!!!

next financial move: i am saving to buy a new car this time on my credit!

Just trying to relax a little bit.... I am more anxious than nervous.... got my interview scheduled for 3:00 pm today in San Antonio and was looking around and thankfully seems the process is very friendly thanks VisaJourney people!!!

I cant believe how time goes so fast... I can still remember myself making K1 visa questions some years ago and now I am almost done with Citizenship

Does anyone knows if Russia has any issues with double citizenship???

It is time to apply for my N-400!!! amazing how time goes so fast... i remember 207 when I was making questions for my K1 visa petition....

so... the M-477 checklist says:

IRS certified copies of the income tax or IRS tax return transcript.

Can anyone tell me what exactly are they looking for???? is there like an official IRS document i can request for this?

Send them bills on your name and on your spouse name with the same address on it..We sent about 10 different bills like cable bill,electric,water,etc..Thats what we sent..If thats all you got,thats all you got..Good luck!

but... how do you get an electric or water bill on both names????!!!!????

i am adding, netflix, i am authorized user on dish and verizon, there is also a page called imapmyrun that uses your phone gps to map your training, i am attaching the log tha shows where i've ran, also attaching this year tax return with my w2.... also my amazon shipping history....

but right now i dont have anything else with both of our names on it.

we will put my name on the cars, and get a will and medical power of attorney... also add more affidavits... but after that.... i have no idea what else to show....

I just got an RFE!!!! i can't believe it!!!!! i sent all i had... and they say it's not enough financial responsibility..... credit cards with both names, trips together, loans were he is my cosigner, i am in his ERS, IRS transcripts, car insurance cards with both names, joint bank account, 2 affidavits....

we dont have kids and are not planning on having them but that should not be a reason to deny this....

my husband has a mortage for the house and a year ago we refinanced, and we decided not to put me on the papers because lack of credit score is bad credit score and he would get a bad rate but i had to sign some papers anyway... maybe i can find some of those papers

well after reading the list of documents there are a couple of things i can add...

this year tax transcripts showing common address in the w2's with my name

i guess we will have to get a will, trust and power of attorney for health care for both

maybe extra credit cards with both names... but that;s it!!!!

please... any ideas what else can i send?????

Well I am back here to keep going forward with this process. My green card expires in 18th february 2011 so I will start the paperwork and file in December.

Has anyone else got a letter from USCIS saying we need to file for removal of conditions? I wasn't expecting it, i guess is a nice reminder.

1 question to everyone.... I met a girl that also came with a K1 and she filed her removal of conditions a year ago. She mentioned that the inmigration agent told her during the interview that if she wanted she can apply for citizenship. Does anyone had similar experiences????

I would strongly suggest that they keep passports and travel to the states on tourist visa whenever they want. I am in a similar situation and I thought about bringing my parents here in the future but, unless you have lots of money here, that will be complicated. I dont even want to imagine what would happen if one of them gets injured or break a bone on the states and dont have medical insurance.

My parents have a very decent life there and have access to affordable good medical much cheaper than here. They are thinking on comming to visit me but my husband and I cant afford to sustain even one of them here full time. Remember, a couple of thousands go way longer in peru than on the states.

Just to finish.... i am very concerned about them getting the visa denied too..... I hope the fact that they traveled a couple of times to other countries helps....

Hello everyone: What i want to know is, does my wife need to send a Police Certificate

along with the DS-230 form, even if she's never been in trouble with the law.

I dont remember exactly what an DS230 is but you need to follow all the instructions and get all the documentation they ask for.

in peru it is certificado de antecedentes penales, judiciales i think there is a third one too. medical vaccinations, etc....

If she never been sick it doesnt mean she does not have to take the medical. Follow all the instructions, they are clear and just require a little bit of planning and time.

My husband owns a house, and we are interested in putting my name on the papers, you know, to help with the AOS. I am sure some of you have done this in the past, can you tell me how? I have no idea how to do it!

What i can tell you comes from my own personal experience.

When I did AOS, I presented wedding pics, older pics together, my name on the cars insurance card, my name on my hubbie ERS papers, my name on my hubbie medical coverage. We never did joint accounts nor add my name to the home mortgage.

Now that i am getting ready to remove conditions I know that If my husband adds me to the house mortgage, because of my lack of credit (AKA bad credit) his loan % would raise and that's not good for us.

I am not either on his bank account but I opened an account on another bank where he is the secondary.

Also with the intention of getting a better credit score I am paying for a car with him being the "back up".

Therefore.... IMO if you want to be on the house papers i think it will complicate mre things than help.

If you are already in Peru and have a "carnet de extranjeria" looks like you are going to be there for a while, i am correct? then why dont you marry and apply for a K3????

a K1 means you and your fiancee have to go back to the states and marry and she will have to be there for a while until getting travel permits....

Hi to everyone, just to make it short, I came on a K1 got married, filed AOS and got my green card on february 2009. Therefore at the end of the year I have to file again to lift conditions.

hi...i think about this from time to time...yet despite the current internal mess, this is still the greatest country....excluding politicians.

Ja, ja,ja,ja,ja i think the worst of most countries are politicians...... My husband thinks exactly the same about peru. maybe when he retires we will move back there, only time will tell.....

i also tried to read the law and believe me... i couldnt even find it...... the step by step guides on this page are the most accurate i could find. read them and you will have a better idea what is this all about.

Ok..... we had a friend on sunday so we watched a little bit of it. he was explaining me the rules and it was a little bit interesting. I just have another question.... what's that ugly robot or whatever they use?????? it is awful!!!!!! looks like an awful version of a transformer but doesnt transforms to anything!!!!!!!

Yes i lived in south america long enough to know how people likes soccer but i lived it the country with the worst soccer team of the world (sorry for the rest of peruvians but the truth hurts.....) so i never was so fond of it. Most of the times we used to gather with friends more for the good time than for the soccer game. I guess that If i lived somewhere like germany or england or argentina with great soccer teams i would like it more.

I think it is soccer in south america and futball here... ok i am getting it....

I have 6 months here and recently started to hear "superbowl" everywhere!!!!! it is amazing that even the food chain advertising on TV is oriented to it!!!!!

What's the big deal?????? is it a season, how long it takes, how frecuently they have games...... any aditional information will be apretiated.
