  1. They did keep my passport. I finally got my CEAC approval on Dec 5th (so a little less than 6 weeks from them receiving my 221g required documents) and CEAC showed “issued” on Dec 7th and I received my visa and passport back the following day! My visa is only valid until Jan 13th, 2023as my medical was done on July 13th, 2022 (and the visa is only valid as long as the medical isn’t expired - 6 months) but we have our move date and tickets!!!
  2. It sounds promising that they asked you to send in your passport though! Sounds like an approval is right around the corner for you 🤞🤞
  3. I can’t remember the actual address, but if you log on to https://ais.usvisa-info.com/ There is an option to send documents by courier and you follow the prompts and it will provide you with some papers to bring to a post office (there’s only certain ones - there’s a list when you follow the courier prompts) with your envelope of documents. Once you find the area to follow the prompts, it’s pretty simple. Good luck!
  4. Thank you for your reply! I have emailed them already and actually just received a generic response yesterday that didn’t confirm they received my docs or an estimated timeline. Essentially didn’t answer anything I asked lol. It’s been almost 3 weeks since they have received my documents and still no update to my CEAC. I guess I just have to cross my fingers and be extra patient. I can’t travel to the US, as the consulate kept my passport, but my fiancé will come here for Christmas if worse comes to worse. Thanks again!
  5. Oh wow. Thanks for your response. So I shouldn’t be alarmed that nothing has been updated on CEAC? I was getting worried that it ended up in the wrong hands. …and I suppose we should be making plans for my fiancé to come here for the holidays? They really don’t make this easy, do they?
  6. Hi everyone, I was directed to this thread from someone based on a question I posed. Hopeful that someone can help. I wasn’t issued a DS-5535 though. I had my K-1 Visa Interview on August 9th and was given the 221g because my police check was wrong and because I hadn’t received court docs showing a case I had many years ago was withdrawn by the interview date. They kept my passport at the time of the interview. I have finally received all of the documents required, and couriered them to Montreal on Oct 31st (tracking number shows it was delivered Nov 3rd). I’m wondering what a realistic timeline would be before I get an answer (approval 🤞)? Was hoping to be with my fiancé by Christmas. CEAC is still showing refused with the last update on August 12th, so it doesn’t even look like anyone has actually looked at my docs/file since receiving them.
  7. Hello, I had my K-1 visa interview in Montreal on August 9th, 2022 and left with a 221g. I finally got the docs required and send it in via courier and the tracking number shows it was delivered on Thursday Nov 3rd. CEAC still shows as “Refused” with no updates since August. I'm wondering what a realistic (and recent) idea on a timeframe would be for a decision to be made. Wondering if I’ll be able to be with my fiancé in the USA for Christmas or if we should make alternate plans. Our son’s 2nd birthday is earlier in Dec as well. I was so hoping we could all be together by then as well but that’s probably just wishful thinking. Any insight would be helpful!
  8. Hello, Long time reader, first time poster here. I had my immigration interview in Montreal yesterday and was refused because the police check the OPP ordered for me through the RCMP was incorrect. I’ve already gone to the Commissionaire’s to have the correct one ordered (as I found the correct info on this forum) - the privacy act entire holdings etc. So not I have to wait for that to arrive to send it in. During the interview, I also disclosed that almost 20 years ago, I was arrested for something (thanks to a terrible ex boyfriend) but the case was thrown out before I went to court and I was never convicted. Now I’ve already requested “Certified proof of the outcome of the charges” through that courthouse, but they are quite backed up and have a 8-10 week wait time for these documents (I requested them 4 weeks before my interview). The Consulate Officer asked me to send in those documents as well, when sending in the correct police check. He gave me a letter stating the visa was refused and then listed the two documents required. The letter doesn’t say they will reconsider me l…it just shows the two documents in the lines underneath where it was the visa was denied. He did keep my passport, however, and gave me a separate sheet advising how to send in the documents. 1. I feel like it’s a positive thing that he kept my passport, but the more times I read the letter, the more I’m second guessing myself since it doesn’t specifically say they might reconsider once they review the documents. Can anyone with experience in this confirm is this is a positive or negative sign. 2. Does the proper police check (Certified Criminal Record Check - Personal Use from the RCMP) show any juvenile record? I didn’t even get a chance to mention a shoplifting charge from when I was 15 or 16, as we were mainly focused on the arrest from when I was 19. Should I be looking into getting a certified proof of the outcome of that too? Or is that even something I can get for a juvenile charge? I hope this makes sense. I have no problem getting anything I need. I’m just trying to figure out how to get everything as quickly as possible so I can be with my fiancé and our son can be with his dad again soon. Thank you in advance!
