@newbie75 @ACC24 when my wife and I did our landing at YVR airport, the first officer took pictures but the second officer who did the actual processing didn't do any biometrics, no finger-printing, nothing. At least, he opened our sealed envelopes, processed them and kept the contents. Finally, I asked him about fingerprints but he simply said, "nope not needed, you will get your greencards". 🙄

@AgriSiva, @F2J_March , @ACC24 - Thank you for your inputs! Makes sense. We hope ours comes in as expected.

We did not carry any other documents other than mentioned. This was not our final move which will happen eventually :)  We returned back to Canada after 4 days in US. Hope all works out good for  you all as well!

We completed the landing. It was smooth. @ACC24 The officers did not take a pic of my son who is just 7 or his biometrics during the process. Is that common?

Thank you! I hope so too, will share our experience once we land. Thanks!

We crossed the land border from Toronto over the weekend to activate our EB2 immigrant visa. It was very smooth process that was completed in 30mins or less. The officer asked for sealed packages, original passports and confirmed US mailing address to received GC. He took fingerprints and photo as well during the process and we were good to go. No questions asked regarding importing our cars or the final move.

This almost brings us to the end of never ending EB2 Immigrant journey ( though final move for my wife and son will be pending for sometime). We couldn't thank enough for the VJ forum and support throughout the stressful process and will continue to be part of the forum. Happy to help/answer any related questions whenever possible.

Wishing very best for everyone still going though the process for their journey to end at the earliest possible.

@ACC24 Thanks for sharing your experience. We are planning to do the final move later this summer after the school year is done. Is there any documents to carry other than the sealed packages, passports when this isn't the final move? Did you return back to Canada the same day after landing? Thank you!

Thanks @newbie75 They did not ask about our travel history at all.  We did hear them asking the fellow next to us about his travel history though.  I did carry a travel history document (I had a 5 year and a 15 year ready).  Here is a list of what I brought with me:

    I-140 Petition

    Response to RFE

Previous Immigration File (Did a FOIA request as I was previously a green card holder as a minor)

Photocopies of all original docs (was only asked for copy of new passport)

Cancelled Passport that I had used on DS260

All original documents submitted to NVC (We provided updated police checks as the documentation provided says it expires after 1 year and I wasn't going to take a chance with ours that were two years old in May).

Last three years of tax returns for both my husband and I

Letter from company I do contract work for saying they plan to continue to utilize my services once I move to US

    Current Work Orders

    Mortgage Pre-Approval

    Resume for both of us

2 passport style photos for each of us

    Interview Letter

    Appointment Registration Confirmation

    NVC Invoice

    IV Payment Fee Confirmation

    DS260 for both of us

    Proof of payment for

    5 year travel history

    15 year travel history

I had everything broken down into different file folders with tabs for easy reference.  I know this is probably way too much stuff to bring, but I wanted to be overprepared and have anything they could possibly ask for.  Hope this helps.

This is super helpful @3LabMom! Thank you and much appreciate you sharing your experience and this information with the group.

We had our interview in Montreal today for EB-1.  It was approved and CEAC is showing "Issued."  They asked very few questions, most of the time was spent providing original documents and finger prints.  Our questions were what I intended to do for work/was I going to just find a job once I approved, if either of us had previously been married, had either of us ever lived outside of Canada and where we planned on living once we arrived in the US.  There were no issues updating our address or passport.  We were in and out in under an hour.

Congratulations @3LabMom! Can I ask - did you need to carry a travel history document? We are Canadian citizens with extensive travel to US since DQ & DS260 filing - wondering if we need to carry travel history.

Unfortunately, they did not capture my fingerprints well during the interview. I got an email to come back on April 21 for my fingerprints to be properly taken. Other members not affected. So down here is what you need. RCMP-Others

Thank you. Hope you and your family get approved soon.

Congrats, my family case is similar, hope we get the same tomorrow. We have been on Refuse for a 5 weeks for RCMP - wrong Certificate. Today it change to Ready, but only for our two kids (Hopefully its for all). I hope to see a issue tomorrow.

All the best in the US of A

Hi Paparazi - Hope all your family gets issued tomorrow. Do you mind sharing which sort of RCMP certificate is the wrong one? Thanks!

We finished our EB2 interview today morning and were told "APPROVED" by the CO after the interview. By 4pm, CEAC status is updated to "ISSUED" and next is passport waiting time :)

Regarding the interview, it was very smooth and quick. We went inside around 8.40am and were out by 9.40am. The lady who checked our documents was very nice and Consular officer was even more nicer, smiling and gave us a very positive vibe right from the beginning. They never asked for any single extra document other than what is mentioned in the website and questions were very simple ones that are already consolidated by many VJ members in the spreadsheet( Ex., What is your current role? Did you travel outside the country apart from US/ Canada? What is your highest education for both myself and wife? )

Happy to answer any questions anytime.

Congratulations ACC24! Do you mind sharing what documents you carried for the interview - especially the originals?

Hi, lawyers have advised that it’s not an issue on either process. For CP, I’ll just need to travel to Montreal and attend the medicals and interview whenever it gets scheduled one of these years :) And for AOS, same thing, there isn’t really a requirement that you cannot leave the country at all. As long as the primary (and in this case me as secondary) applicant have a valid visa (H/L etc.) we are able to travel. The only requirement is that while the AOS (I-485) is being submitted, the applicants need to be in the US at that time of filing. If you have an Advance Parole application filed along with the AOS, that AP application alone gets canceled once you travel outside but it has no impact on AOS (I-485) + EAD (I-765). Given that we have valid stamps of H/L, we are hopeful to travel from the interview (assuming the interview at MTL arrives before our AOS Green Card). This is my understanding based on our lawyers, hope it helps!

Thank you VA21202, this helps a lot and honestly what a great option if the spouse has a valid i-140! From what you said - after filing i-485 in person, in case one choses to come back to Canada (say still frequently travelling to US) with a valid H visa that should still be within the parameters. We will ask about the option with our lawyers as well. Thank you!

All the best! I also have a similar AOS application in progress based off an already approved I-140 via my spouse. The shortest processing center I could find for AOS (I-485) is 23 months. Curious to see if the USCIS page is unreliable or is there something else I’m missing. As mentioned earlier, I’m on an edge case where I’m a able to have consular processing and AOS run in parallel thanks for my spouse’s application being put in at the same time. At this time to me it looks like consular is leading, as ironic as it sounds!

Hello! I am new member to this forum, waiting for my turn in this slow moving CP line. Wanted to ask about applying for AOS in parallel with CP.  VA21202, please correct me if I am wrong, I thought all applicants on the AOS need to reside in US for the application and for CP the primary applicant needs to reside in Canada.  It will be very helpful to know how are you making this work? Is the primary for AOS residing in US and primary for CP residing in Canada? Thanks!
