thank you @beloved_dingo for your response! No, she has no family living in the US. ALL of her family reside in the DR. The American pastor here works very closely with her sister and brother-in-law who are pastor a church in the DR. The American pastor and his family visit the DR several times per year. That is what I meant by family ties. She is an 18 year old high school student so she lives at home with her parents and siblings. There is no lease as she lives at home with parents. She does physically help her mother care for her younger siblings and go to school therefore she does not have a job. My son still lives at home, so she would be staying with us and visiting the American family and churches that help support the church in the DR. We were just hoping to give this young lady an opportunity to visit. Our intentions and motives are genuin and honest. 😞

This young lady is currently a student and enrolled into school and still has one year of study left, her family and friends are all in the DR. She will be returning! Anyone know how difficult it will be for you to get her tourist visa? Is the wait time currently listed on travel.state.gov accurate? Is it truly taking that long to get an appointment?

I'm new to this forum and all things immigration related. My son met a friend in the Dominican Republic while there on a mission trip with a youth group. This Dominican friend's family is friends with the American pastor and my sister in law. Anyhow, my son wanted to bring his friend to the US for a visit on a tourist visa. Can anyone offer any guidance? How difficult is it to get a tourist visa from the DR? We can prove family ties, and an on going relationship if necessary. We can prove his domincan friend is enrolled in school and has no intention of over staying their stay. PLEASE HELP!
