  1. Actually they do talk about Part 2 and Part 5 in their Vaccinations section but I'm still not sure if it means that's all I have to give:

New Form I-693: Please submit a properly completed and signed form I-693, report of medical examination and vacccination record. A new version of the medical form is required to be submitted by any applicant whose medical exam. was conducted by a civil surgeon on or after June 01, 2008. The new medical form includes the medical information as well as the vaccination record. Under the new guidance, any applicant two years of age or older is required to have a tuberculin skin test performed. Also, the Center for Disease Control has added additional vaccination requirements to its technical instructions for vaccination. these new age-specific vaccines include rotairus, hepatitis A, [...] are required if the medical exaination was conducted by the civil surgeon on or after August 01, 2008 (mine was before). Therefore, if the medical examination a was conducte4d on or after that date, the new vaccinations, if appropriate, must be administered in order for you to be medically cleared for adjustment of status. The results of these new vaccination requirements should be documented on form I-693. Also in order for the vaccination documentation to be complete, the civil surgeon needs to complete both the vaccination table and the results section.

Vaccinations: Please submit a form I-693, report of medical examination and vaccination record, and have the civil surgeon complete the vaccination section of Part 2. The designated civil surgeon must complete the vaccination section and also complete Part 5, the Civil Suregon's certification.

  2. Hello

I just received an RFE for my medical.

A little background: I arrived in the USA last summer on a K-1 visa, got married and then sent my AOS package in October. At that time I didn't know the new requirements for the medical (for K1 holders, fill out the vaccination part of the I-693 form) so I didn't include this I-693 form. My medical in France was done in July 2008.

I received the RFE today but it doesn't say if I have to have then entire form filled out or just the vaccination part. Do I have to redo the entire medical examination?

Thanks to anyone who can help me!

  3. Congrats again Jeroen!

My parents finally bought a webcam! So far we mainly talked via MSN but only typing because apparently they don't like to talk with the microphone, they find that weird (but it's not so different than a phone, isn't it? :P ) And this weekend they decided to buy a webcam. Which is even stranger because if they don't like to talk with a microphone I find it strange that they want to talk with a microphone + a camera. Oh well, at least I got to see them yesterday for a few minutes, it was nice. I had seen them only once or twice since I left, when my sister was back home and had her webcam.

The bad thing is that their computer is old, it only has USB 1.1 and 256Mb of memory, and their Internet connection is kind of slow. So the sound I receive isn't smooth and I have to make them repeat at least half of what they say.

But still, it's kind of cool :D

  4. Hello GingerCat!

I haven't found a job yet but I can answer half of the question. I've been looking for 3 months for jobs in my field (IT, but I only have a year and a half of experience back in France, so not that much). So far no luck. I have also looked for jobs with French but there is pretty much nothing here in St Louis where they want an English-French bilingual individual, except in audit. It probably depends where you live though, it's different in every city.

  5. So let's imagine that the USA gets rid of the K1 visa and all that is left is getting married in another country and then do K3/CR1. What if the other country does just the same, does it mean that people can't get married?

Like, a US citizen meets someone from country X that has the same law. They can't get married in the USA, but they can't get married in X either. That wouldn't be very clever.

Of course, it's all about immigration and apparently no visa is required to get married in the USA (as long as the foreign spouse doesn't have any intention to immigrate at that time and leaves after the wedding), but people at POEs don't seem to like it very much either, since they automatically assume that someone who says they are here to get married is intending to immigrate.

So what is there left? Enter the country saying "no i'm just here on vacation" when you actually want to get married, but if you say so they don't let you enter. Then get married, then leave, then apply. That's a little confusing.

  6. 3 or 4 weeks overdue, that must be really tiring! I hope that none of the soon-to-be moms here will have to go through this.

I guess for the gender it makes things easier to know if it's a girl or a boy. I just find it weird that almost no-one wants it to be a surprise anymore. or maybe i'm just not around the right people :P everyone around me says that they would want to know the gender if they were pregnant.

  7. I have a question for all of you. (no I'm not expecting a child, I'm just curious and I love to read about you girls)

Did you all want to know the gender of your baby before he was born? It seems that nowadays nobody wants to have the surprise at birth anymore.

  8. I hate those insurances! It is so unfair. It's like they can choose if they want to screw up people's life or not. I hope that the insurance at her job can cover it. Otherwise maybe you should both fly back to the Netherlands a month before her due date and stay there until she gets the baby. ;)

I'm like Rachel... I wish I could have a baby but it isn't going to happen anytime soon, sadly. Well, one part of myself says "sadly" because I can't wait to have a child, but the other part of myself knows it's probably better if we wait until I'm kind of used to being in the USA and we have enough money to at least afford the conception (we'll have to do IVF). OK I'm kidding myself. I think right now aside from the money we're just waiting for the future dad to be ready. :P

    Congratulations again, Jeroen :)
