  1. hello fellow VJers,

i hope everybody is doing well. congrats to everybody who got their approvals and/or visas on hand. i just need a little help about question #17 on DS-157 form regarding dates of attendance. for God's sakes i can't even remember what i ate for dinner 2 days ago and the form is asking for dates of attendance? is it ok if i just write down the month and year instead of exact dates? has anybody done this for their interviews specifically from the philippines since that's where i'll be having my interview. other countries are welcome as well. thank you.

Hi nicole..like you i'm not good with dates too..lol..so don't fret..this is what i did when i tried to refresh my mind about what year i attended each level..i started with what year i graduated in college..

    1988-1992 BSN

    1984-1988 HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL/SECONDARY LEVEL

    1978-1984 ELEMENTARY LEVEL/PRIMARY LEVEL

yeah ok..i'm that old..lol..but i hope this helps.

  2. Great points...

I'll also post in the guide that the beneficiaries do NOT take any documents to Metrobank or Delbros when paying the documentation verification fee. Delbros will be checking with the government agencies to make sure what you are submitting is real.

    Cheers!!!

    Sheriff Uling

Hi Sheriff Uling, just wanna add this new update about document verification fee..When I called the USEM last Thursday to inquire about the status of my visa..the lady who answered the phone asked me if i have already paid my document verification fee..i told her i did and even gave window 38 a copy of my deposit slip after the interview with the CO..She said they are now requiring the applicants to fax a copy of the deposit slip to make sure it has been paid..Good thing she volunteered and was able to find my folder and my deposit slip.. she told me not to fax it anymore and to call them after a week..

I wasn't able to ask for the fax number though so for those who haven't faxed it yet..pls call the USEM to inquire about it..The lady added that it would be best to pay the document verification fee a month before interview..

  3. Ok so I know that you have to pay for document verification now. I am confused on a few things and would like verification.

    1) What documents do they verify? Passport? Birth Certificate? Police Clearance? All of the Above?

    2) Do you bring the documents with you when you pay? If you do, do they verifiy them right then or does it take a while. If it takes a while do they send your documents back to you, or to the USEM?

Just trying to figure this out. Thanks :)

Hi EricC, to answer your inquiry about document verification..It is to double check that the information stated on your security papers are true..Birth certificates, certificate of no marriage or CENOMAR, divorce decrees/annulment and even marriage certificates are those they would need to verify..Even if you already have those over security papers authenticated from NSO..you're still required to have your documents verified by Delbros..why delbros that i cannot answer..

To answer your number two Q..yes you need to bring the authenticated copies of your birth certificate and cenomar during the interview but no they do not verify these over interview..Delbros will take charge of the verication process..how long it varies..

  4. Visa received today by DELBROS. Jovy lives in Santo Nino, S. Cotabato, about 90 minutes north of Gen San. It took 9 days from approval to receive, for any trying to determine timing. I really expected an extra week in this process, but so excited we're ready to come back here together soon. Good luck to any still waiting and to all for happy and safe travels.

WOW!!!CONGRATULATIONS!:dance: ..Goodluck on your flight and we wish you the best!..

  7. a copy from the National Statistics Office printed on a secpa. You can request 2 or more copies for future use as well.

do u have any idea of "document verificatio"?

actually, i dont really have any idea about verification what is that all about?

document verification is primarily for NSO or the National Statistics Office to verify the authenticity of your birth certificate and marriage certificate/divorce decrees..Even though we have it over security paper already..they still want to double check the authenticity of it from the NSO itself..

there is nothing we can do but to comply and pay for it few weeks before your scheduled interview..better be safe than sorry..goodluck!

  8. hello to those who has their interviewed at usem i would like to ask if they need the authenticated marriage certificate or they need the certified true copy from the local registral????

How about for birth certificate what they need authenticated certificate or the original copy from the local registral????

thank you for any reply .......

You will need an authenticated copy of both marriage certificate and birth certificate. Both should be in original copies because the prescreener will be asking for these.. :) Goodluck!

  11. Hi... I went to Target today to buy a notebook or a binder to put the evidence in there. I couldn't really find anything that is flexible enough. I ended up getting a 1/2 inch three ring binder.. Is this okay? I read somewhere that it has be small enough so it can go through the window when we get to the embassy.. Or does anyone have any idea where I should buy one? I tried going to Office Depot didn't find anything... Please let me know

    Thank you everyone.

When i went to my interview all my forms were really in order with all the plastic separates and fillers and different folders for different forms..Although it's good to be always prepared and handy with all your forms and wanted it to be neat and in order..i found out you don't really need to place all your forms in plastic separates and fillers..Just put same forms in one folder don't bind it or staple it..they will ask for a specified form so it's good to know where you placed each form for easy access. Here is an example:

APPOINTMENT LETTER AND DS FORMS ALL IN ONE FOLDER.DO NOT STAPLE OR BIND FOR EASY ACCESS.

the appointment letter you would have to keep with you all throughout the interview.keep it handy should in case they ask for it.DS forms should be in order- DS-156K, DS-156 (WITH BARCODE AND PICTURE ATTACHED ALREADY), DS-157 validated from the bank, DS-156 Second Copy (WITH BARCODE AND PICTURE ATTACHED ALREADY) and DS-157 Second Copy ( Not validated )

MAIN DOCUMENTS( ORIGINAL COPIES ) LIKE AUTHENTICATED BIRTH CERTIFICATE, NBI CLEARANCE, POLICE CLEARANCE ( if needed ) and CENOMAR ALL IN ONE FOLDER.AGAIN DO NOT STAPLE OR BIND FOR EASY ACCESS..

During my prescreening interview the only bounded form i gave her is my Form I-134 Affidavit of Support. For the INCOME TAX RETURNS, she only asked for the recent one which was 2006 and 2007.

The prescreener did not asked for my compiled photos. She only told me to flip through the pages while she's looking. I was actually on my second page when she told me it's fine.

During the interview, they will also have with them the compiled forms your fiances/fiancees have submitted before. So, if your fiances/fiancees have compiled a complete info before including pics and other proofs of relationship..they won't ask for all the forms and proofs you have.BUT IT IS STILL BEST TO HAVE ALL YOUR PAPERS AND PROOFS READY..should in case they wanted to ask for more

Goodluck! I hope this info helps in a way.

  12. CO questions usually varies depending on what is stated on your forms. What the pre screener would ask you is also the kind of Q's the CO would ask.. Here are some of the questions the CO asked of me during my interview..

Where and when did i first meet my fiance

    > Filipinaeyes.com January of 2007

Do you have a profile over that site

    > We both have our own profiles

    Who contacted who first

    > He did. He sent me an email

How many times did he visited you and when was that

    > Two times. First visit was last May 2007 for 21 days. Second visit was last October for 10 days

How many times was he married before and why did both marriages ended

    > He was divorced twice both on the grounds of irreconcilable differences

Aren't you disturbed or worried about this

    > No ma'am I'm not

Aside from the grounds of irreconcilable differences, what did he told you happened with both marriages

    > ( confidential )

Does he have any drinking problems

    > No ma'am he doesn't. Like me, we're both casual drinkers

What attracted you most about him.Why did you choose him over other men courting you

    > His outgoing nature. He is a very honest man, very straightforward and we blend too well

How many siblings does he have

    > They are nine in the family..two dead

    Wow, a big family

    > His mother married twice

All in all, the questions they will ask you are basic q's which if you knew your partners so well..it would be very easy to answer it regardless of how complicated some of the Q's are..PRESENCE OF MIND..listen carefully to every Q..and do not be nervous..it will all be easy in the end..

  13. is document verification can be paid any branches of metrobank..

yes any metrobank branch will accept your payment. just make sure to text delbros after you paid the P650 for them to process the verification...oh and don't forget to have a duplicate of the deposit slip..you need to show this to the windows 37/38 when you're done with the interview at USE. at the back of your deposit slip, write the necessary info needed like your MNLXXXXXXXXX, beneficiary's name, petitioner's name, date of interview and complete address of petitioner.

    goodluck!

  14. Be yourself. Know the basics about your man (his Mom's maiden name, just to be sure  ). Prayers do help.

And be presentable but don't ever wear heels!

    Good luck & God bless.

Presence of mind..that's what you need during the interview. In as much as they won't really ask for all of the forms you have prepared..It's better to always be ready with it and to keep everything handy. Do not hesitate to ask questions if there's something you needed to know..they don't bite.SMILE AND FEEL POSITIVE..Everything is going to be fine.. :D

Oh, BTW wear a business attire..It helps boost your morale and show them you mean business.Be friendly with your seat mates too..Talking to them will help you feel relax and they will help you watch for your number too... .specially when your attention is on someone else..hehehe

High heeled/Short heeled footwear doesn't really matter..It's what will make you comfortable..

  15. Be yourself. Know the basics about your man (his Mom's maiden name, just to be sure  ). Prayers do help.

  16. Hi Folks,

Joy had her embassy interview for her fiancee visa yesterday (Thursday, Feb. 7), and I was with her. The interview was scheduled for 7:30 AM. After being herded like cattle, and seeing the pre-screener, we finally saw the consular officer at around 1:00 PM. The CO asked several questions and was very friendly. Since I am self-employed, I was a bit nervous about the adequacy of my I-134 affidavit of support and supporting documentation (I had bank letter, certified copy of my assumed name certificate, tax returns, etc.), but the CO barely glanced at it.

After finishing the interview, the CO said everything looked fine and Joy's visa was approved. I had previously prepared a letter to the CO requesting visa pick-up from the embassy (rather than Delbros), which stated that Joy had never traveled abroad, that she was nervous traveling alone, and that I had already purchased tickets for Joy and I to travel to the US together on Feb. 15.

I handed the CO the request letter, and also verbally explained my request to her. The CO did not hesitate in approving direct visa pick-up, but stated that she could not guarantee when the visa would be available. The lady at Window 38 took Joy's cell phone number, gave us a pink ticket stub (for admittance to the embassy for the pick-up), and told us that they would call when the visa was ready.

Well, earlier today (Friday, Feb. 8) at 3:00 PM, Joy received a call from the embassy telling her that the visa was ready, and that she should pick it up at the embassy on Monday, Feb. 11 at 10:00 AM. That was great news! Since Joy already had her CFO guidance and counseling session, we will go to the CFO on Monday afternoon after picking up the visa, and get the CFO stamp. Looks like we will have a few days to kill before flying together to the US on Feb. 15. Yehey!

    :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

    Marc

CONGRATULATIONS MARC AND JOY!!! WOW!!! It's nice to hear you'll be able to pick up your visa on Monday..Lucky you..It only took you few days to wait for the visa..Well, GOODLUCK and WISH YOU BOTH THE BEST OF EVERYTHING! More Power!

  17. Kidapawan is just an hour away from GEnsan and it's 1165  too expensive. anyways, still worth it coz u were approved.

    congrats :thumbs::dance:

Maraming Salamat Po!!!..I just hope to have my visa soon..Can't wait to be with the love of my life!.. BTW, can someone please tell me how long does it take to get the CFO sticker after the visa arrives.. My fiance is planning to get a connecting flight from Davao City to Manila then LAX and he was asking me how long do I need to stand by in Manila for me to be able to get my sticker at CFO then back to the airport..Is six hours fine for me to have this done? Considering the traffic and the hassles along the way?..

I hope someone could help me..Thanks again..

  18. Had my interview yesterday and i passed it!!! eeehhaaa...It felt so good to be congratulated and welcomed to the U.S.A. by the consul..It wasn't really hard after all..Thanks to VJ family..I owe this to you as well!

I was already at the embassy at around four in the morning. At around five we were guided to sit on those benches at the waiting shed after showing the guard our appointment letter and a valid I.D. I think it was at around six past when we were allowed to enter the building and were seated on those blue chairs. An employee then told us to prepare our DS forms and appointment letter as well and to wait till its our turn to show those forms and get our number..My number was 7024.

Numbers aren't called in order but randomly..My number got called first and I was assigned to window 21.She only took my authenticated Birth Certificate and my NBI Clearance..I was only asked a few questions like:

How many times did he visited me?

When and how long did he stayed on each visit?

    When was he born?

How many times was he married before?

    Why did those marriages ended

She wanted to see some pics of us together and just told me to flip through the pages so i did..She then asked for my for I-134 affidavit of support. I asked her if she needed the income tax returns.. She only took the 2006 and 2007 income tax returns. Then she told me to go back to my sit and wait for my name to be called again and to prepare my pics so i could show it to the CO.

After the biometrics, I went back to my sit and waited.I think it was almost ten when my number flashed on the screen for my CO interview. I was assigned to a very nice lady at window 28.She then told me to take an oath and raise my right hand. She asked me the same Q's the prescreener asked me.After asking me those questions..she took time to read my documents then said ALL MY DOCUMENTS ARE IN ORDER..CONGRATULATIONS! WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.. CALIFORNIA IS A VERY NICE PLACE. THE WEATHER OVER THERE IS NOT AS COLD AS THE OTHER STATES.A LOT OF FILIPINOS LIVE THERE TOO SO I AM SURE YOU ARE GOING TO ENJOY YOUR STAY THERE.( WOW!!! ) She then told me to go back to my sit and wait for my name to be called for Delbros.

When my name was called for Delbros i gave the guy my deposit slip for document verification. He took it and put it in a folder together with my thick file..hehehe..and told me to then go to the delbros cashier to pay my visa delivery fee. I paid P1,165 for them to deliver my visa..shocking???..lol..i know..but yet this is how it's done..so no complaints..

I was out of the USE by 11am..thank gawd!Only have to wait for my visa. For all those who passed the interview..CONGRATULATIONS and GOODLUCK!!!

IS IT NOT 165.OO PESOS ONLY? THAT'S WHAT I PAID THE OTHER DAY..

I'm from Kidapawan City..an hour and a half away from Davao City..The Delbros cashier told me thats the fee i needed to pay since they do not have an office over there..I jokingly told her why don't she just addressed it in her manila office and I will just pick it up.. Told her i am just a few hours away from manila..and people from manila only pays P165..It's hold up..hehehe...anyways i don't have a choice but to pay so i did..
