Hello, Wanted to follow up on this thread and check if anyone has gone through selling property and is similar to my case. I moved to the US in April 2023, sold my property in May 2023 so had to go through all the complexities with selling as a non resident and the 25% tax withholding. Currently waiting for the clearance certificate to complete. My question is once the clearance certificate is obtained, will I receive the entire 25% back, am I exempt from that since I'm considered a resident of Canada for tax purposes having presence in Canada this year and at that property? Looking to see what the outcome was for others in the same situation.

For me they asked only which countries did you visit in the last 5 years. I did not travel that much, mostly with US and Canada so they did not ask further. I’m assuming if you have a long travel history they may want to ask more questions on that.

Unfortunately yes, that’s not a good thing to have extensive travel history. They will most definitely ask you about the countries you’ve visited. Its always advised to limit international travel during the visa process, so you should avoid it until your interview. For previous travel be sure to have all information to answer any questions the CO might ask.

No problems for me. I had my interview in Montreal while my spouse was in Canada too. They do however have to confirm a US address and phone number that you used on your application so make sure you provide that.

Regarding if you should avoid travel or not, I’d recommend to avoid international destinations if you can. It’s not explicitly stated you’re not allowed to, but does have potential to delay the process after your interview, as I’ve seen with other applicants that had excessive travel history. for myself I only had a few trips to the US between my DQ and interview, no issues.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes the green card to arrive after your border Landing?

He did not but I brought that and a copy of all other IDs, as they could ask for any documents at random.

Ensure all documents listed as required are included (police certificate, marriage certificate, birth certificate, passport, photo) also copy of all documents you submitted on NVC. The one that surprised me is the CO asked for a copy of my sponsors US passport, which usually is not asked for.

Confirmed that’s not required. I worked in the US for a number of years and didn’t have a police certificate, and they did not request it at my interview.

They are only looking for honest and truthful answers to this question and all others they ask. If your longest stay was 3 months then mention that one. They may also ask you the countries you’ve visited in the last 5 years

For those I only brought one copy, as there’s no original. For any that can be revised for ex. I864 forms, I brought the copy I submitted and an updated one. They didn’t ask for either but better to come prepared.

Yes the police check needs to be within 1 year during your interview, so you’re good as long as your interview is before July 12th

For further information please visit the RCMP website at: http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/criminal-record-and-vulnerable- sector-checks The original fingerprint form containing the fingerprint images used to search the databank has been destroyed. should also include your name, and date of then fingerprints were taken.

Another question on crossing, any issues doing it with a family member (Canadian citizen) or is it advised to go on your own? Also if going with your own vehicle will the border request you to also do the vehicle import or is it optional/can do it another time?

Yes, tracking number was given to me the next day after the interview.

Had my Interview earlier today Jan 11 Want to let everyone know it went great and I got approved! The whole interview process went smooth, officers were nice and very helpful. I was there for about 1 hour and interview time was no more than 10 minutes. After a few hours my CEAC status updated to issued. Will now wait for the email, tracking number and passport return. Will give more details in my consulate review. Thanks all for the help and support in this forum

I wouldn’t worry about it if it’s only been 1 day. Give it 2-3 weeks and it should update correctly. I suspect it’s not an error but them putting the account in some sort of holding state while they work on other apps.

How long have you got the application error for? Mine got resolve itself after 2 weeks which is the usual time for most applicants. I heard you can also try different browsers, laptops, phones or other devices as they might work. But I believe it’s a problem with the website itself where your account is on hold for some time after it’s updated.

Right no letter, only the interview confirmation email

1. Same here, took a few days then I was able to register. 2. I would put your new address in the interview registration, then also revise 864 forms with the new address and bring those to the interview. 3. I also had Dr. Randall Lee, I believe they didn’t need my interview registration, only the letter, but you should schedule the medical in at least a few days so you’ll have the registration before that in case. Also FYI I did not receive a medical result document/envelope after the exam, they send it directly to the embassy

Hi All, Im revising my 864 form before the interview and had a question: For anyone that was the applicant and also submitted 864A form for yourself, in the asset section you have to either enter the amount from the 864A form, or the principle applicant amount which is the same. Which one did you use? If entered in both then it’ll be counted twice

I got mine with my family physician. If you don’t have one you can also try a walk-in clinic or pharmacy

Confirmed that last week. I went for a one week vacation, travelled by air. They didn’t question me at all at the border. DQ and have my interview next month. Correct it’s most likely just the land borders, I would avoid those until this process is done.

Question on the medical exam results, I did my medical today with Dr. Randall Lee, he mentioned no medical results, receipts or documents are sent to me, everything goes to the embassy. was this the same for everyone else? I heard some had the medical exam envelop and confirmation docs, but the doctor said they no longer do that..

That’s what I’m also planning, do my landing and visa stamp but won’t move until a few months after. I do see it’s correct that you’ll lose healthcare after becoming LPR, but has anyone confirmed that, Where they were seeking healthcare but was told they no longer have coverage?
