  1. Just got married and submitted I130 for Mexican Wife. At the same time would like to register our marriage in Mexico which we have read requires the Marriage Certificate to be apostilled and translated from English to Spanish for the Mexican government. Has anyone done something like this before? Wondering if I need to have the certificate translated and then apostilled or if it needs to be first apostilled and then translated to Spanish?
  2. My fiancee is from Mexico where she has two first names and two last names. What did other people do in regards to their first middle and last official names in the US? Any problems with dropping the second last name and it matching the passport or visa exactly?
  3. So we are thinking of having a civil wedding in the US (bigger church wedding later) and then both of us will go to her home country for a few months. I am pretty sure I cannot submit the I130 until she is out of the country but my question is can I submit it while I am out of the country visiting her? From what I have read it seems like there is an online option which I would use to do this. Is the online option inferior to the paper mailing process or does nit not matter?
  4. OK so it needs at least 6 months left. If we can an appointment when there is still 7 or 8 months left on the passport then we should be good though?
  5. Mexican girlfriend's passport expires in 9 months. Her tourist visa is expired and she wants to renew it. If the tourist visa appointment occurs in a few months when there is less than 6 months until expiration on her passport, will that be a problem?
  6. Thanks everyone, think I will just stick with W2 and only visit her to keep things simple from visa application perspective
  7. I live/work in the US but am considering moving to Mexico to be with my girlfriend while waiting for either the K1 or CR1 Visa (yet to decided). I meet the income requirement for sponsoring, but have doubts over if my income would count towards this requirement. I haven't worked out all the details with my employer, but likely I would have to switch to 1099 contractor instead of my usual W2 in order to work remotely from Mexico. Once the visa arrives I would switch back to W2 with my employer and live in the US. Would working as 1099 in Mexico and then move to US after the visa with the same company as W2 work with CR1 or K1 visa? I think I would apply the foreign tax credit to my US taxes after paying in Mexico but still trying to figure out all the tax details. If I can't sponsor with my income as remote 1099 than I would have to scrap this plan and just stay as W2 in the US.
