  1. No its not FBI check - he told me after i asked "so we still dont know if i am approved or not??" he said he doesnt tell anyone at the interview yes or no but that to him everything seems fine and then went back and looked in the file and said that even FBI check came back ok,and that about 90% of cases gets approved anyway so we just need to mail him that emplyer letter(which we did) and that he has to wait for my other A-file (again guessin its my K1 file since i dont have nothing else) so i really dont know.... :-(

  2. Ok...its been a month and a half now almost since we had our interview in Dallas.Everything went smoothly but the guy told us that he doesnt tell anyone if they are approved or not.The only thing missing was my husbands new employer letter which he mailed to them 2 days after and then again a week after that at the address they gave us and we still havent heard a word from them.Is this normal??That same guy that was doing the interiew also told me that from what he sees everything seems ok and that even FBI check came back and was okay that they just have to wait for that other A-file to come in(im guessin the K1 cuz this is my first time in the US)So wheres the delay coming from??Should I be panicking??I called the 1800 number and they said the only thing they have is that the case is pending approval and local offices dont take no phone calls. And online status havent been updated since march when they received the RFE!!

Anyone in similar situation??HOW LONG IS TOO LONG??

  3. wow..that had to be horrible..I am pretty strong person and have my emotions under control but I know my nervs were a wreck this morning. And him being so pleasant really helped me relax a little bit.Sorry I hear you run into a b****.Thats what I was worry about - that our interview person might be or simply in a bad bood and that they will take it out on us.

But you made it - CONGRATS to both!!!

    :-)

  4. OK Finally after all these months of wait, last month we got an appointment letter for an interview at the Dallas office 8:30AM.

We left around 7:45AM(dont live too far from there thank God) and made it there 3min before our interview.

Went through security was pointed to door nr2 and was told to sit down and wait.At that point I was like F*** eveything im ready to go to sleep now since I dont sleep at all night before.

After 10 min our name was called, and this young guy with very pleasant face walked us in.

First thing he asked us for was our IDs (pass and licence for me & drivers licence from Mark). After that he double checked my info on the file he had with him(name,DOB,country of birth, etc) and started asking thos"have u ever...?' questions- I just said"No-to all of them"

Then he asked how we met I told him short version but he seemed satisfied. He mentioned then that he was on Adriatic sea during the war in Croatia cause he was in the Navy then, and that he was told that all guys in Croatia are tall and play basketball..which was cool to him cause he is tall too...lol Anyways..PLP THATS A MYTH!! lol

He asked for our tax returns and a handed him all we had lol and he just picked the 2005 one.

Then he asked Mark where he works now and he told him he just got this tx history teacher job on the aug 14,2006 and he said he will need an employer letter from him but if he doesnt have it here with him today he can just mail it in and he gave him an address where to mail it.

Then he talked some more to Mark about school system and how his mom is working as teacher and stuff.More chit chat.

Anyway, then he said something about green card is valid for 2 years and how we need to aplly for Permanent Green Card before 2 yrs are up,and that after he gets my other A-file(from somewhere?guessing other Dallas office &K1 folder) and receives employer letter from Mark - that everything else seems fine to him and looked in the file again and said that my security clearance came back with nothing on me.Then I asked "But we still dont know if we are approved or not or? He replied that he never tells people if they are approved or not but that 90% of his cases are approved .

All together interview took like 15 minutes.Didnt ask too many questions, didnt ask for any photos,or anything else beside taxes and that employer letter.

My medical was way more than a year ago now plus i never did an additional 2 shots for something(forgot what it was now lol).

No stamp in the passport, didnt take my EAD so I am a little confused now even though everything seemed perfectly fine.

Mark says I worry too much but I just cant help it. :(

So there I hope this will be helpfull to some of you. (F)

  5. So they didnt ask you for no evidences or something?Hmmm Lets hope ours will go as smoothly as yours...Wish me luck and Thank you (F)

OK I just called NSC and after explaining her everything she said she will do the checking for me and If I didnt hear from them withing the next 30 days I should call her again.

And Pinac would you mind telling me more about that interview what did ask for what did they say?You know Im nervous when it comes to that :-(

    The interview was pretty basic.

    We were both sworn in.

Asked for our ID, gave him our passports.

He started looking through the file.

Asked us where we got married - Sedona Az

    Asked why there

Asked if we had filed our taxes yet, we gave him our returns

Asked the have you ever ... questions from the 485 form

Ripped out the I94s from my passport (actually ended falling behind his desk)

Stamped my passport and explained that if I needed to travel before receiving my card to show the stamp

Then started to show us out

I had to ask if he wanted me to give him my EAD and AP, he did and he took them

As I said, we were in and out in under 20 minutes including the time spent in the lobby. In fact my wife commented that he did not even ask her a question.

The best pieces of advise I was given about the whole thing were to be patient and to only answer the questions that you are asked. If they want to know more they will ask.

In the end I ignored the first bit and spent a lot of time worrying about the worst case, when as it turned out they were right in that it all works out in the end and that it is just a matter of time.

18 months?? WOW! Did they atleast give you guys a permanent card then instead of conditional???

Hmmm..I just went to that link you gave me and it says that Boston is processing files received on december 25st 2005 (and they filled in march 2006??) and Dallas,Tx is processin May 1st 2005 :-(.You think these timelines are accurate??

For what it is worth my AOS through Dallas (the normal AOS and not DORA) took about 10 months (June 2005 to March 2006). When it came through we were all really happy that it happened that quickly as we had been told to expect a processing time closer to 18 months.

It only took 10 months for us, so I got the 2 year card.

If you have been married for more than 2 years when the AOS is approved you get the full 10 year green card.

On the bright side the interview in Dallas was really quick. I think we spent more time in the wiating room than we did being interviewed (about 15 minutes). We were in and out, complete with stamp in passport in under 20 minutes.

  8. Co sponsor also has to meet 125% of poevrty level. You and co-sponsor should include everything that they own real estate cars etc not just income - because believe it or not that will be one of the most important things to USCIS - they need to know that you wont be a burden to society if they let you stay.

OK since we don't yet know whether we can meet the Income requirment in 2006 I have some questions about a co sponsor.

A friend of ours has offered to co sponsor us if necassary.

Their household size is 4 people and their anual Income is at about 50 000$ right now.Now my man and I might come up well let's just take the number 4000$ short for the Income requirment of a household of 3.Could our friends co sponsor us with their Income? Or would it be enough if they just co sponsored me? How does this work? Not talking about assets here ,only the Income.

Can someone please explain that to me as I really can't figure it out?!

    Thanks in advance!!!

    Nat

PS:We DO meet the Income requirement in 2005,it's only 2006 we MAY have problems with .

Guess i will have to do that tomorrow huh?

I thought that all AOS cases are being mailed to the same place now - Chicago and thats where they make their decision or???

You have to be careful to compare your processing time to someone else at another district office...

Go here to see processing times:

    https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/ptim...id=cc2lechBwBp-

if you want to compare Boston to your area, put in each and see the time differences.

Nope, they start off in Chicago, then eventually get transferred to your designated District Office.

  12. Ok I just finished reading the post about AOS interview in Boston that was filled for in march 2006.We filled ours in december 2005 and I have received my EAD and notice that they received the paperwork needed but as of then no appointment letter for AOS or nothing oh and yeah I got my fingerprints done too.So after I saw this post I was wondering how come theirs was approved after only 4 months and we are still waiting??

BTW CONGRATULATIONS to those lucky two :-)

  13. First off I wanna apologize that it took me so long to reply on your post but I was away from comp for a few days.Second I wanna thank all of ya for your responses and ideas.

Question that a whole lot of you were asking - Do I have a thick accent and if i can speak english lol - well I do speak english since I was 12 and now that I am overhere with (american last name) most people overhere in TX by my looks think im hispanic(thats all they know i guess lol) and when I start talking they think I am from New York(or east coast) so I dont think that is a problem especially not for a jobs like grocery store cashier I think my Italian friend might be right - fact that they are looking at employment history and fact that I dont have any overhere-HOW AM I EVER GONNA HAVE ONE IF NOONE WILL LET ME START THATS WHAT PUZZLES ME- or sometimes I am even getting a feeling that those hiring managers are trying to hook up plp they know with those jobs or something like that. There are jobs I just like I said keep getting turned down or not hearing from them at all.I have ever been at TX work force ever since i got here but job alerts on that side neither. And yes I was looking at hotels too several matter of fact because thats where I have most experience in.But ,Oh well, guess I dont have a choice really ,I do have to keep looking and hope that something will come up or at least that someone will tell me why I am being turned down.

But thank all of ya once again for kind words and your support >its comforting knowing I am not alone here - I already started thinking that it was something about the way look or something lol

  14. I am in Garland.Where are you from?

Just curious: where are you in Texas? I'm in Dallas.

That too..been doing that ever since i got my EAD.If I atleast knew what could be the real reason why they r turning me down :(

I have..Even plp i met on the bus stops and stuff like that. And my husbands friends are mostly teachers like he is and i dont know nothing about that nor i fit the requirements.I just keep getting "I am sorry you are not what we are looking for" or I just dont hear from them. And I also dont have no criminal records nor drugs use in my past not even a speeding ticket??

I have been in Tx like 6 months now and received my EAD in april ,and did numerous job aplications and now I am even trying jobs like grocery store cashier or food clerk(whatever pretty much) and still getting turned down and dont even know why???

If it was just for the fact that I dont have any experiance in that field how come they are hiring highschool kids for those same jobs applied for?

Does anyone know where the problem is and what one could do?

Would calling croatian embassy do any good??

Im getting really frustrated now. Also if it is for a fact that they cant check my employment history and references since since all that is overseas - how will I ever have any history if noone will give me a job to start with??

This is crazy...Does anyone have similar experiance with this or is it just me???

try using word of mouth. ask your friends what places are hiring. start there...

say if your walking around the mall.. ask people at the counters if they are hiring.
