  1. Just a little update; since successfully completed and approved interview on 01/12/12 my status has been stuck at "que for oath scheduling". I figured it was probably sitting on the desk somewhere collecting dust so I made a call to my congressman on Friday. Today my status changed to "oath scheduled - letter sent" and the congressman's assistant called me today and told me that they scheduled me for oath ceremony on 2/27/2012. I think she said 0830AM. Now I finally can make other plans! ;-)

  2. Sorry about the confusion. I had the interview on my lunch break not the oath ceremony. Still waiting on that one.

Thank you for the information. Very helpful indeed! :) Wow, that's super close to your job! That's neat! I'm a lil' confused though.... have you or have you not had your oath ceremony? From your timeline it looks like you haven't but from the above statement it sounds like you already had it. :)

  3. Well, from what his lawyer told him is that his first N400 back in 1997 was denied because he had that 1 DWI in 1993, not because of SS. It was too soon after DWI plus the law changed in 2004 saying that 1 DWI does not mean "bad moral character'.

But I am curious about that one too...

To me it was not exactly "knowingly and willfully" if he did not understand the full concept of it.

Of particular note to your friend would be this paragraph from that document:

Its not clear to me though whether the 'time of application' would be now or in 1997 when he filed first.

  4. milimelo,

I know which international birth certificate are you talking about; I have used that one without problems up until I had to send my I485. Then I received the RFE letter asking to translate in English and certify (had to be court certified interpreter for that language) that same birth certificate. It took me a while to find one online as there were none in Texas. I found this agency online, emailed them the letter, payed $50.00 and received the certified copy in the mail a few days later.

Never needed it again after that.

It all depends who you run into.

P.S. That International Certificate is in 4 different languages and IT DOES have all the info needed, btw. Including parents information. That is what the agency use to make a certified copy out of.

Sorry, but not true - the yellow form (A) international birth certificate has all the information from my regular birth certificate (name, sex, date, time, place, parents names). the book number and year birth was recorded, including notation when I married my husband and his name.

There is no short form birth certificate in former YU countries - all that is ever needed is on the birth certificate and the international form.

  5. Interesting...

Well, what gets me is the fact that they have started the whole thingy so the draft will be as fair as possible in case there is really a need for it; to me, if there are severe consequences associated with it already - it is no different than forcing the weapon in their hands when the war DOES break out. They are trying to make it voluntary but it is really not; It feels like people are still bullied into it. Just MHO.

So, you guys think that he doesn't have a chance at citizenship at all?? Would contacting a congressman help?

Uncle Sam started selective service July 2, 1980, an after thought when we switched to an all volunteer military with decent pay. In 32 years, not one person was drafted under this act, yet the USCIS takes this way overboard as a major crime if you don't register for it. I got stuck under the draft with six years of my young life taken away, made a killing machine out of me, pay was low, living conditions terrible, food wasn't that good either. And was worth more dead than alive with my mom only getting $10,000 if I was killed, ha, had to watch my back. But did completely change my life.

Three sons, all born in the USA received those postcards, we know you exists and where you are at, if you do not sign and return this postcard, we will give you a $10,000.00 fine. Two of my sons were rejected from enlistment, wanted to take after their dad. One did have some major health problems, we don't want you. Younger one had a record of asthma as a kid. They wouldn't take him either because of that. Told him, we didn't have all that fancy exercise equipment, but got into shape by running 25 miles with a backpack full of 65 pounds full of rocks. He ran 15 miles a day all summer long doing that, was still rejected, he was very disappointed. Also an honor roll student.

Ironically, he did get a job with one of Bush's military contractors, he still wouldn't give me the details, but said it was so immoral, he couldn't do that, so quit after just two months. Really got disgusted and left the country and has been teaching young Japanese kids English in Japan. He still doesn't want to come back home. And still won't tell me what happened in those two months working for that contractor.

But yet the USCIS makes a big deal out of this, and in 32 years, not one person was called to serve in our military, really sounds like a very strong contradiction. Besides that, our military is so technical today, takes at least two years to train a kid.

Our history with the USCIS, is even with the best immigration attorney, worthless, even admitted, best to have a brother-in-law in a high position to get anything done. Recommended I become buddy buddy with my US senator to get anything done. Could be worth a try. Yeah, our law says at 18, you are a mature adult, another bad joke.

  6. I am asking this question for my neighbor. He has been a permanent resident since he was 17 years old. He is originally from Guatemala and he came in the US on asylum. He is in his early forties now. He has been a person of "good moral character" all these years and beside one DWI in 1993, his record is spotless (no other arrests, completed probation, stopped drinking since then). His original N400 was denied back in 1997 because of that DWI and his costly lawyer has told him that he can't acquire citizenship at all because of it. I have looked into it and the lawyer was wrong. So that part is okay.

    The issue is following:

Back in the days when he received his Selective Service letter - he refused to register. He was young and thought it was optional (didn't think it would affect him in any way).

Considering that he had left his country because of war - I can't really blame him that he wasn't willing to get in another one.

Is he still eligible for citizenship despite his refusal?? He has been a permanent tax paying resident for over 20 years now.

  7. Wow!!! That was super fast!!! Was this the ASC office in Whitehurst Drive in Dallas? Were you interviewed @ the Irving office? By the way, how come you didn't get the same day oath after your interview? Sorry for all the questions lol

Yes, biometrics were done at the ASC office, Whitehurst Dr. My appointment was scheduled on Thursday 1200PM and after I actually asked the IO if it's possible to have an oath the same day; she said that in order to be scheduled for the same day oath they have to have EVERYTHING done by 11am. I've heard that ceremony is held around 0130PM, so I suppose in order to get one you have to be scheduled really early in the morning.

I work about 5 miles from their Irving office so I did it on my lunch break actually. They might be saving the same day oath for those who come from afar. Just my opinion, she didn't say that. :-)

    Hope that helps.

    August 04, 2009

WAUSAU, WI – A married man who planned to rendezvous with one of his handful of lovers at an eastern Wisconsin motel instead found himself bound, blindfolded and assaulted by a group of women out for revenge, according to court documents.

Four women, including his wife, eventually showed up to humiliate the man, who ended up with his ####### glued to his stomach in a bizarre plot to punish him for a lover's quadrangle gone bad, according to the documents filed in Calumet County.

Now it's the women who face punishment, perhaps six years in prison, and at least one said Monday the story has gotten twisted and she's embarrassed.

"I am disturbed. I am upset. I am having a hard time handling life; an emotional wreck," Wendy Sewell, 43, of Kaukauna, said in a telephone interview from her home. "I am ashamed."

Sewell, Therese Ziemann, 48, of Menasha, Michelle Belliveau, 43, of Neenah, and the man's wife are charged with being party to false imprisonment, a felony. Ziemann also is charged with fourth-degree sexual assault.

The women are free on $200 cash bails. Investigators say all the women but Belliveau were romantically involved with the man. Online court records didn't list defense attorneys for any of the women Monday.

The Associated Press is not naming the man's wife to protect his identity as an alleged victim of sexual assault.

The women's plot for revenge unfolded last Thursday at the Lakeview Motel about 30 miles southwest of Green Bay in the tiny village of Stockbridge near the scenic shores of Lake Winnebago.

Criminal complaints filed Friday allege the man agreed to be bound with "sheer sheets" and blindfolded with a pillowcase for a "rub down" by Ziemann. She instead cut off his underwear with a scissors and summoned the others to the room with a text message.

Ziemann struck the man in the face, and used Krazy Glue to attach his ####### to his stomach when the other women arrived, according to the complaints. The man told investigators he also was threatened with a gun. Ziemann told investigators she didn't have a gun but may have told the victim, "Do you know how much I want to shoot you?"

He started screaming and the women rushed off fearful that he could get loose and hurt them but allegedly took his wallet, vehicle and cell phone.

Ziemann told investigators she met the man online through Craigslist, fell in love and paid for his use of a room at the motel for the past two months. She said she gave him about $3,000. Then last Wednesday, she learned from the man's wife that he was married, had other girlfriends and was "using them for money." She expected the money to be repaid, according to the documents.

During Thursday's confrontation with the man, Ziemann told investigators Sewell asked him, "Which one do you love more?" and the man's wife made a derisive remark about him being scared.

The man got free from the bed by chewing through one of his bindings, went outside and borrowed a telephone from the motel owner to call police.

Ziemann and Belliveau are sisters and Belliveau didn't do anything wrong, Sewell said Monday. "She was just there for moral support. She wasn't even dating the guy. She stood at the door the whole time and didn't participate or nothing."

Ziemann's husband answered the telephone at their home and declined comment. There was no telephone listing for Belliveau.

The man had no telephone listing in Fond du Lac.

  10. Well, clearly I am better expert than YOU.

On the other note they gave the professor more than one chance to cool off and calm his "attitude" that involved him yelling and raising his voice repeatedly calling officer names and he still refused to do it or to follow instructions.Especially once they were on the public street and his rampage continued - yeah that is disorderly misconduct.

Here is one story for you - a few days ago police was following up on the armed robbery call - made by young black man saying he got robbed on the gun point by 3 other young black males. They located the 3 suspects and were questioning them on the street( they are also known as local drug dealers).Of course the crowd around was curious at what is going on and then a black guy that was standing behind me made a comment "what is going on here - i see police and a whole lot black men.they must be doing the racial profiling again."

I turned around and recognized the individual as a "wannabe porn star producer" who hangs out all day long at the bus and train stations harassing underage girls to star in his movies..

I leave the conclusions to you..And with that this thread as well..Until you did the job yourself you wont know what am I talking about so i wont waste my time.

BTW..my husband is black just so there is no confusion.

  11. Arresting someone without a legal reason to do so is pretty stupid in any logical book.

How is disorderly conduct not a legal reason?

Disorderly conduct is what you would call an offense. You might want to read the police report.

The legal reason ended when the ID was confirmed. Period. Trying to make orange juice out of apples is not cool.

No it did not end when the ID was confirmed.I read the report and our professor never stopped arguing and screaming bloody murder insulting officers who were just answering the call that they were dispatched to.I work in law enforcement I can tell you that those words are being thrown around a lot when people do not have a better argument.

Stop black drug dealer on the block and the first thing that will come out his mouth will be"oh you are harassing me just because I am black!"

Stop latino crackhead that is kneeling next to someone elses car it will be because they are latino.

Deal with drunk or high white dude he will call you wetback and say things like "why don't you go back to your country?"

Our professor with his degree should of had more common sense than that.If he nicely explained what happened and showed his ID I am very confident that the officers would tell him to have a safe night and they would leave.

So maybe next time time when there is a burglary call at the professors house and officers arrive and see a black man in his house maybe they should just say nevermind instead of subjecting themselves to justifying why they are doing their job.

Sorry but since I get to see the incidents like that first hand and it happens a lot - it just irks the hell out of me to see how some people think.

  12. I know it is not completely the same case as yours but when I was applying for my conditional green card i put the slash where my middle name should be since I do not have one.Somehow they interpreted that as a letter "I" so my green card and my DL had it too.And like you I never changed it.When I was applying for Removal Of Conditions I wrote a nice letter explaining how mistake happened and asked them if they could correct it and when I was filling out the paperwork for it, this time I just left the middle name field blank.

You too, I suppose, could do the same thing - write the letter explain how you thought you had to use her maiden name as that is the name they knew her through K-1 but that she is actually using your last name, then fill out the forms with YOUR last name this time as that is what they will go by when processing the Removal.Might wanna add a copy of your Marriage Certificate again just to make sure.

In the worst case they might say no and you would still have to go through the name change letter but if they do it it might save you a couple of hundred.

  13. I get confused with latinos all the time here in Texas because I got dark hair and eyes.I get a lot "you must be a Puertorican from Brooklyn" guessings..Very few were actually able to guess which part of the world I am coming from and they were mostly former military deployed in Europe at one point in their life.

    There is another funny incident;

While working at the police department, myself and another officer who is Mexican but look more white had to deal with this drunk very combative white chick. While restraining her she turned her head around first and looked at him and called him "effin white trash" and turned her head in my direction and called me a "effin wetback"..lmao..we both thought that was hilarious..

But most people can't even tell that I am not American or where I am from until I tell them myself.

I do hate one thing though..When I do tell where I am from 90% of people be like " oh yeah I know where that is! can you say something in Russian for me"...

  15. Just a little update..I received my approval notice on friday afternoon and received my GC today. That was really fast! And they even corrected my name on it - they added middle initial to my name last time around and I don't have a middle name. They misunderstood the slash for letter I so with my I-751 package I included the letter explaining what happened and asked them to correct it and they sure did!! :)
