My Priority date is oct 2019 visa bulletin for f2a is Feb 2019 meaning they are giving interview for those i think your priority date has passed wonder while you haven't gotten interview

Confused as well, we have been current for a while now not sure that bulletin means much for Nigeria. There is so much backlog and they aren't really attending to f2a i don't why i barely see anyone getting dates. The wait is very annoying.

Your mother is the primary sponsor and has to sign the I-864.

If your brother lives with your Mum in the US, he’s a household member (I-864A). If he’s married and files his taxes jointly with his wife, she’s a second household member too (I-864A).

Makes perfect sense. Thank you so much. Heard adding additional documents does not reset the clock. We will submit the I-864A of the wife too as soon as possible before our case is reviewed .

    Thank you !

    Can you clarify?

What i meant is that my mum is actually the petitioner, my brother is now standing as an household member. Recall on the nvc page there is "Add a joint sponsor" and "Add household member" so i'm guessing they do not mean the same thing.

So i am asking could it be possible that the the requirements for MFJ of a joint sponsor is different for an household member

It is entirely true that they keep requesting for additional evidence when the numbers don’t add up. If the JS files taxes jointly, his wife is involved now and has to submit the documents I listed above. Here’s from the US Embassy Amman website (I believe it is the requirement of the DOS no matter the country):

    1. A copy of the signed affidavit of support (I-864) from the petitioner and joint sponsor (if applicable)
    2. Copies of the petitioner’s/joint sponsor’s federal tax returns (form 1040 and all W2s) or IRS tax transcript for the most recent Federal income tax return that the petitioner/joint sponsors filed prior to signing the I-864. Additional proof of the petitioner’s/joint sponsor’s assets can also be supplied as supporting documents.
    3. Proof of the petitioner’s and joint sponsor’s domicile in the United States and proof of the petitioner’s/joint sponsor’s U.S. citizenship or legal permanent resident status.

*If the petitioner did not file taxes: A  statement by the petitioner stating why he or she did not file taxes.

*If the petitioner’s income does not meet minimum requirements, provide a completed and signed I-864 and financial documents from a joint sponsor. (NOTE: If the joint sponsor files taxes jointly, please also include an I-864A completed and signed by the joint sponsor’s spouse.)

Okay this makes sense . Thanks a lot

I just realised it was not a Joint sponsor but a Household member instead. Does this apply too? I am guessing Adding a joint sponsor and Household member do not mean the same?

    Please pardon my multiple questions

Why did they give you two RFEs for the same thing? Did you not upload all the W2s/1099s for the first RFE?

Well, here is a comprehensive list that would eliminate all doubt:

    1. JS’s I-864, MFJ tax transcript, W2, 1099, Proof of USC/LPR status, Proof of domicile

    2. Marriage certificate of JS and his wife

    3. JS’s wife I-864A, W2, 1099, Proof of USC/LPR status, Proof of domicile

Yes we did , it was accepted but they still requested for the same thing. I just wish they could be more specific with what they need to see as opposed to just typing the same RFE and leaving us to figure out what they need.

What i gathered from some of the previous thread is that when the numbers do not add up they will keep requesting , as they would want to see where all the income is coming from. It is just draining. We only submitted all 1099 for the JS's wife, we didn't think to add the other listed documents since we are not adding the JS's wife as a sponsor too . Will add these to clear all doubts.

    Thanks

Less than a year ago when the NVC phone line was still up, a member of the forum asked them why they are requesting a W2 when she’s provided them a full tax transcript, and they said they’re required now.

So I suggest everyone who has W2/1099s to upload them or to write up a letter explaining they don’t have them otherwise.

    Hi I have a question.

So we have gotten two RFEs . Our last submission was sept 27. Both RFEs requested for the joint sponsor's w2/1099 for 2020. The joint sponsor thought the reason they are probably still requesting is because he filled the tax return jointly with his wife in 2020 and the numbers were not adding up.

So he submitted all w2/1099 of his wife to show that he filed tax jointly with his wife that year so the numbers can add up, is there something else we are missing here? Wouldn't want another RFE , its really draining.

Actually NVC time clock start counting since first submission date of "Required docs".

Additional docs doesn't reset the clock yayy

I uploaded required docs on August 31st very quickly and uploaded additional later(September 12th).

    Good luck to you👍🏻👍🏻

As you know NVC suspended phone call so I sent an inquiry.
NVC inquiry replied by an email.
My final submission date was September 12th😊

    Exactly ! Oh wow

I was just so surprised they had jumped to September 12th submission, that is so amazing . Happy for you  😊

My final submission was September 27th , praying for that kind of jump😂. Wishing you the very best with the rest of your journey !

Hi! Good news to you guys!!

    I got DQ email on 20th 12:30pm(EST).
    Submission date was August 31st.

According to NVC on 18th they said the team member is actively in review my documents that I submit on 12 September(last submission date).
Actually NVC made a mistake about my case last time so this time they finish checking early I think.
Rest of people who submitted on August probably get a good news soon❤️

And I hope September submissions also get it too🤍

    Wow Congratulations🎉🎉🎉

That's great news. If i may ask did you call them and was your final submission date August 31st or September 12th?

Ugh yes. I am so worried about the W-2/1099 thing. We are both abroad, so no W-2s. I submitted a letter explaining it after seeing RFEs in these threads.

Yeah we did as well the first time and it got accepted but then they asked for the year 2020 for the joint sponsor. Heard the reason they keep giving RFE's for that is because the numbers don't add up. So we included more documents. Praying hard we get DQ this time ,

I'm guessing we would get a response around the same time. Fingers crossed!

You submitted everything on May 31st and today you received a message asking for RFE.

It's interesting to see this since they aren't supposed to go that fast. Maybe there are two steps:

    - Step 1: Where one official "review" the documents are uploaded correctly.

    - Step 2: Another official go through the forms to make sure everything is correct and all requirements are met.

Don't take my word for it, I'm just trying to understand how they work with this process.

I would say you could be reviewed in a couple of weeks since they have been reviewing cases with submissions by May 19th (based on @webber777, who got DQ yesterday).

Unfortunately the only way to know is waiting until they review your case. Other members could know or have something that can answer your question.

    Good luck!

Yeah all documents uploaded shows Accepted except the AOS showing incomplete.

We can only wait and see how it goes .

    Thanks!

With a PD of Dec 2017, he should have been DQ ages ago.. That PD was current in the “dates for filing” table B of the visa bulletin  by March 2020, which means NVC should have asked for documents around then. Or do you mean you have now submitted the documents but are still not DQ?

    How old is your brother?

As boiler noted, Lagos along with many other consulates is still heavily backed up for interviews. There are literally almost half a million DQ cases across the world waiting for interviews.

We just submitted all his documents last month. USCIS initially requested for DNA testing ,Trump also banned Nigerians around 2020 plus covid too. All these delayed the process.  We got USCIS approval October last year But he has now submitted all his documents at nvc.

My brother is currently 23 years old, when his case got opened at Nvc he was in the f24 category, but then we later got an email from Nvc stating he is under child status protection act which later moved him to the f22 category currently.
