  1. thank you very much for this, I truly appreciate this forum, immigration is not for the faint of heart 😊 the varying degrees of process can be dizzying happy holidays if you celebrate cheers
  2. Its hard to make tails and ends of it nowadays. Ive seen the other pending I-751 transferred to NBC threads and there are many explanations about why it happens, what I have not seen is a good explanation why USCIS processes allow for the N-400 to be processed ahead of an I-751 approval. thanks for writing in. cheers.
  3. Hello Fellow Journey Folks, I just wanted to start a new thread on Pending I-751 Transferred to NBC After Passing N-400 Interview, so other people in the same situation can find this resource specific to a "pending I-751 but was interviewed for N-400 and passed the N-400 interview", and issued a Form-N-652 with check marks on: a.) "you passed the English test and the US history and government test...." b.) "congratulations, your application has been recommended for approval..." Please share your experience about: 1. Were you required to appear again for an interview at your local USCIS office to adjudicate the ROC? 2. How long did it take for NBC to come back to you from the time of notice that your I-751 was transferred to NBC? 3. If NBC waived an ROC interview, how long did it take them to return to you for the pending I-751 approval? 4. If NBC waived an ROC interview, how long did it take them to send you an oath taking ceremony? Timeline/Info: July 2021 - Filed I-751 by mail, paper application July 2022 - Filed N-400 Online November 2022 - N-400 Interview December 2022 - I-751 NOA File transferred to NBC "in order to speed up processing", case receipt number unchanged from previous processing center Nebraska Local Office: Tukwila, WA Would appreciate your input. Cheers 😊
  4. I'm glad I found this ROC post because this is exactly what happened to us - N400 interview done with a pending I751 at LIN - while we passed the N400 interview, an oath taking is pending, because of the pending I751 at LIN Nebraska. 1 month after the N400, 1751 case status showed that it was moved to another jurisdiction. It turns out it was moved to NBC instead of our local office for the N400. Seemed disjointed and quite disappointing for us because it didn't make sense, because the N400 immigration officer's word after congratulating us for passing the N400 interview was that my A-file just need to be requested for their review. Finding your post is reassuring. Now its again back to waiting for NBC's slow slog, the memories of our super crawling AOS process with NBC comes back, and setting expectations not hear from them until near the expiry of the I-751 NOA extending the green card validity for 24 months (and that is 12 months from today) is good for our mental health 😆 Merry greetings to everyone in the thread who is celebrating the season, thank you for being here. Cheers,
  5. I really don't see a need for a lawyer, and I hope I don't reach that point. We are still within the 120 day period of our successful N-400 interview, and the extended validity of our I-751 has another year to go.
  6. The letter we received is nowhere in the online case documents for our I-751, except for the statement in the status that indicated "we sent you a notice", hence the hope it was an invitation to take the oath. From the change of the online case status from "We received your application" for I-751, to "We transferred your documents, another office has jurisdiction", we passed our N-400 interview. The N-400 interviewer in Tukwila clearly said the next notice was for an invitation to the oath if they didn't find any issue with the I-751, if this latest NOA was to indicate the transfer, shouldn't it be to Seattle? Not NBC? My original AOS was handled by NBC.
  7. So, it's a bit of a disappointment. The letter we just received from USCIS is a notice of action re: 1-751 transferred to National Benefits Center. The obvious question is WHY? We passed an N-400 interview more than a month ago while the I-751 pending at Nebraska LIN. What could possibly be the reason for moving the I-751 to NBC instead of to the Seattle local office? It doesn't make sense. Any thoughts? Would appreciate it. Cheers,
  8. I just saw from USPS informed delivery that a much anticipated letter from USCIS is in our PO Box, driving there after work today to see if it will be a very merry Christmas for me and my husband. Crossing my fingers this is the oath notice we've been waiting for, send us some good vibes 😊 Will post news later. Cheers,
  9. I uploaded a letter for a combo interview in my online case for the N400. My spouse came to the N400 interview with me, anticipating they will adjudicate both the I-751 and N-400. But I got an officer who only processed the N-400 and when I passed it said she needed to get my A-file from LIN to look over, and unless they've got questions, there should be no need for an ROC interview. My A-file was transferred from LIN to local office after exactly 30 days. It's been a week since, and I have not heard about anything, so maybe another 3 weeks before they'll update my case.
  10. Troll is back on the thread, it feels like rubbing salt on an open wound, s/he is not very clear about why his I believe your suspicion is correct, psycho in the thread.
  11. And here's the full text: " On Monday I had my interview with a pending removal of conditions. I got the test questions, and then I was asked few questions about my marriage. My husband was not required to attend the interview with me. Then, the interviewer asked the yes/no questions, and then told me that I can proceed to get my oath ceremony. After getting the Oath, I got a case update that notified me of the oath. A day after I got a text confirming that my removal of conditions application was transferred to seattle. It is not approved yet, but I do not care. I do not know if it matters, but we moved to another state and got back to Seattle early this year. Removals conditions was submitted while we lived in the other coast around June 2021. Then proceed to book an appointment for my passport. I did not expect to get the oath on the same day. For the USPS passport, I was lucky to find an open slot for today's morning. Something to note is that for your passport they will keep your naturalization doc. You also need to bring at least two other IDs. It could be your DL /State ID and an insurance card for example. You need to bring cash or debit card to USPS. They do not take credit cards. I chose the fastest shipping so I should get my passport between 2 and 4 weeks counting from today. I chose the passport (book) and card. Any insights on getting the enhanced driver license? Not sure of whether is worth getting it since it is not needed until 2025 now. Good luck everyone!"
  12. No combo interview, the IO said she doesn't do combo interviews, I had my spouse with me if she would do it. She only said that she will review my A-file from LIN and I should get an invite to take the oath if there are no further questions on the I-751. But definitively she said I won't be called for another interview for ROC, but then again stranger things happen in this funny journey of ours. Penny for your thought: Someone over at the Seattle thread posted that they passed their N400 with a pending I-751 (from where didn't write it in) and IO scheduled them for same day oath taking - a classic reversal of the rule that N400 cannot be approved without the I-751 approved first - you're welcome to scratch your head just as I did >\<p
  13. Online case status update: case was transferred and a new office has jurisdiction. Just keeping you guys posted. Cheers
  14. Sounds unfair right? But who knows what's fair anymore. Newbie's timeline is blank, the post didn't say where ROC is pending. Which is just as well, because if Newbie posted ROC is in LIN, I would've combusted. What you don't know won't hurt you eh? ><p Cheers
  15. No worries. I agree that LIN has ridiculous timelines, which is why I have stopped looking at the excel sheets. I hope you're right that with the A-file now transferred to Seattle I should hear from them soon about the oath ceremony. Penny for your thoughts - some newbie went into Tukwila for an N-400 with a pending ROC, passed N-400, and was allowed to take a same-day naturalization oath, got me scratching my head, something didn't compute, but happy for that newbie though, lucked out just before Christmas. Cheers,
  16. Congratulations! It is interesting that your IO got you into an oath for naturalization despite your ROC I-751 still pending. This surely makes me scratch my head because I was in an N-400 interview that I passed but because my ROC A-file is in another USCIS processing center, my invitation to take the naturalization oath would have to wait. I do recommend you get the enhanced driver's license if you didn't order a passport ID card. It sure helps to go through airport security. This is your reference site for that in Washington state: https://www.dol.wa.gov/forms/520431.pdf Again congratulations! Cheers
  17. You can only hope for the best. You can imagine how it feels when others seem to have same day oaths after passing their N-400 and you're stuck because of a pending I-751. At the mercy of the system. But thats what an immigrant's journey is all about. Patience should be everyone's virtue. Wishing you more luck than you'll ever need. Cheers,
  18. Didn't move to or from anywhere since filing I-751, I've always lived in King County, WA. My interviews for earlier immigration cases have always been in Tukwila. If you're trying to figure out if moving locations has an effect on the processing time of N-400, it's yes and no, depends on which local office is handling it. Moving places does not affect your I-751. I expected the I-751 case transfer because during the N-400 interview the Immigration Officer did say she was requesting my A-file out of LIN to review for final approval of naturalization. Hope this was helpful to you. Cheers,
  19. After 510 days, my online case status for the pending I-751 (at LIN Nebraska) has changed 2x within a span of 2 hours. First change, case was updated to show fingerprints were taken (I never went for new biometrics, but I had fingerprints taken before the N400 interview) Second change, case was transferred and a new office has jurisdiction (Seattle) Now hoping that the rest will slide in to an invitation to take an oath for naturalization. Will keep the thread posted. Cheers,
  20. My online case status for I-751 ROC just changed to "Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken", I didn't have to show up for biometrics. I hope this is a good sign that the paperwork is moving through the system and my naturalization is finally approved for oath-taking (N-400 was passed on 11/10). Wish me luck. Cheers,
  21. Reading your post didn't quite cheer me up, I'm one of those who had their N-400 passed for final approval but with a pending I-751 are awaiting a schedule to take the naturalization oath in Seattle. 18 months is quite an astounding wait, is that 18 months from the filing of the I-751 or the passing of the N-400? And since we are in the "theorizing" mood, there is quite a bit of analyzing of an imperfect data set, the biggest variable is the USCIS itself, they could be experiencing staff shortages particularly around this time of the year when personnel are likely to take their PTOs. Any data points on that?
  22. Thank you for your comment. I tried to get help from my Congressperson last time with the AOS and they have been no help from my experience. Others may have had a better experience. I hope that we don't come to the point of having to go to court, I do have an immigration lawyer who basically helped us with a review of the initial document filings from AOS, and haven't had the need to give him a call since. The costs are quite steep at $350 per hour. Having the N-400 passed for final approval is going to help us bear the waiting time for now. I just thought that they would be better off getting our case off their plate as soon as they can if there are no questions and move on to the next people in line. Meantime, moving forward with plans for the coming year, I've stopped checking the online status for a week now. Cheers,
  23. Yes thats what my N-400 immigration officer told me, that she didn't need to do a combo interview, but she did say some immigration offices require it for N-400 applications that have an ROC I-751 pending. She was quite nice and I believed there was going to be no issue. But not hearing from them for 30 days seems a bit odd knowing that my application is pretty straightforward. I know this is a bit of whining, for sure everyone in the forum are used to the waiting times, but this is bordering on ridiculous, if an RFE is in order, I should have received something from them by now. Thank you for your comment. Cheers, G&A
  24. Thank you for your comment. I am confident that there are no barriers to the final approval of the N-400. I am just a little anxious about it because the N-400 immigration officer told me during the interview that she didn't need my spouse (who was with me for the N-400) for a combo interview, and that all she needed when I passed the N-400 is to look into the I-751 file and if there are no questions I should not be asked to come for another interview to decide the I-751. If an RFE was in order for the I-751, I believe I should have received one a long time ago. Pardon me if this has been already posted somewhere but is there a best way to bug USCIS after 60 days? I know I can do it through the online USCIS account, but if there is a better strategy to it, I'd appreciate knowing about it. Thank you very much, G&A
