Does chennai consulate allow us to collect passports over the counter (same day or next day) after interview? any experience anyone? Thx.

Keep any recent tax documents of sponser ready 4 interview.

Its better to have medicals done alteast 2 days before the interview; if they need any more test to be done then you will have more time. I think chennai issues visa the next working day and not sure will they hand over by hand like mumbai.

You can also try Western union money transfer...check their website!

You can download from: http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/appointments.html for chennai consulate, if you do not get ur interview letter & also get a scanned/faxed copy of interview leeter received by your spouse.

I am planning to do medicals only by 15 of may as my interview is on 28 may. I am taking immunizations/vaccine only while doing medicals.

On the interview letter; its states in document status for Financial evidence - yes/document complete/reviewed, Does this mean to submit orginals at interview? ..because for police certificates i had submited notorised docs and the status is same as above for which i have to carry orginals any way to consulate. For the ones i had submitted orginals ex: birth certificate - the status is 'Orginal document received'. Pls clarify if anybody as any idea. THX.

1. Need to submit any orginals which was not submited to NVC

2. Fees of 365/- to be paid to VFS prior to interview.

3. Letter send from US (NVC), but routed via a agency in Chennai.

It will take 2 to 2.5 months for chennai consulate..heavy rush!!

NVC will only accept Orginals!
