  1. Both me (USC) and my spouse (IR-1) are getting ready for our arrival in the US later this month from the UK. Regarding health insurance, we both are starting from scratch as we have left our jobs and will start our job search in the US. It seems most ACA "marketplace" plans start on the first of the month after we register -- has anyone found a solution that would cover us (for emergencies at least) during the interim period before regular insurance starts? Please let me know. Thank you!
  2. For anyone in the same situation: I ended up submitting another explanatory letter and more evidence (two moving quotes, appraisal of our home's value from an estate agent, more statements of US financial accounts). I labelled all of them as "proof of US domicile" in the NVC system and also submitted a public enquiry to bring it to their attention. Nearly 2 months later I received my DQ and (on the same day, go figure) a response to the public enquiry informing me that my case was documentarily qualified.
  3. Thank you - I just feel like I'm left hanging here until I receive the DQ notification. Do I need to resubmit the attachments (I could select the "Proof of Domicile" category to make it really explicit) or should I just wait it out?
  4. I just received an update from the NVC that all of our documents have been accepted, however received the following "Case FE Review Note": [Petitioner] might not have a principal residence or be domiciled in the United States. Please submit proof of domicile. I live overseas with my spouse. I already submitted the following as attachments to my I-864: (1) declaration of intent letter from me; (2) letter from my parents saying we can stay with them; (3) US bank account statement at my parents' address; (4) federal voting evidence; and (5) a moving quote to move our belongings to the USA. Is there anything else (short of me moving to the US ahead of my spouse) I could do to strengthen my application? Would more financial statements with US addresses be of any help? Is it worth me re-uploading the above in case these documents were missed? I have read elsewhere here that the domicile matter is ultimately decided by the CO at the embassy. Will our case progress any further at the NVC or will it remain in limbo until I submit further documents? Thank you.
  5. Congratulations on getting past the I-130! Indeed will expect your lawyer will help with the I-864. This is the one where your wife (or another USC) pledges to "support" you so you don't become a public charge. I've been a bit apprehensive about that one as I've lived in the UK for a long time so will need to provide good support that I'm serious about moving back to the USA -- it's more straightforward for sponsors who are already living in the US than it is for USCs living abroad. I'm planning on moving before securing a job offer. Sounds like your wife's job offer will provide a strong form of evidence for you two.
  6. Your timeline is similar to mine: I-130 also submitted in May 21, at Potomac Service Center, and has been "actively reviewing" since 23 Sep 21, no further updates since then. My husband is from the UK and we're also both UK residents (I'm the USC). Fortunately we don't have the drama of trying to time our move with a new job, I hope this works out for you both. Once you're past the I-130 (hopefully soon) were you expecting any difficulty with the I-864 since your wife is living overseas, assuming you're not using a co-sponsor?
