  1. wow, quite the discussion since yesterday!

attacks on VJ Troll are unjustified; he only posted the article like he does everything else.

Unfortunately, such articles are not supported by global statistics like % of babies born with birth defects compared with % of such that have first cousin parents. There are numerous causes of birth defects and my understanding is that through several generations of marrying within the same blood 'MAY' be 'ONE' of the causes.

Most people are not familiar with the cultural nuances of other cultures and only get to hear the bad and the ugly. here are some other examples like:

1- the orthodox hindus practise 'satee' -- burning of widows with their husbands

    2- chinese terminate female pregnancies

    3- mormons practise polygamy

4- eastern cultures have arranged marriages

5- muslim women forced to cover their hair

    etc, etc, etc

I think we have to be careful with painting any one nation with one brush.

  2. i'm married to a 'white' bread. haven't seen any racism because of it. what is interesting is when the kids come along, and you're filling out ethnicity information on forms, you usually don't get to pick 2 options. the most recent example was the biometrics form. there was asian, hispanic, white, etc. but there was no 'brown' option in there! and you could pick 'unknown' so i left it blank. the lady at the counter looked at the kids and circled 'asian' despite the white dad in the back.

interesting experiences all around. will only make the kids smarter, fair, well-rounded individuals.

  3. I can feel for you. Things have a way of working out the best and, hopefully, getting the letter will not be hard.

However, you could get a legal opinion on the exact meaning of sole custody. if he has visitation rights then I think you do need the letter. if he's aware of your current relationship then he knows that this change is coming.

I wish you the best and quick resolution of this.

  4. we went to vote. the lineups and traffic jam was unbelievable. cops were directing traffic. surrounding parking lots were flooded with cars as the school parking was full. apparently, it has never been like this in previous years. quite a site and experience.

obama won big here. romney also won from the republicans.

  5. Yes the I-94 will be taken when you depart the country, it is a departure record, when you re-enter the USA you will need to get a new one.

Bring an extra photo copy of the AP document, to give the POE officer if they want to keep a copy.

You present the AP doc to US POE officer for re-entry to the USA.

is this true for K3 visa holders too? I know K3s don't need AP but if I go back, will they take the old I-94 and then reissue an I-94 when I return?

  6. I think a lot of people are guided by the personal likeability factor. you have to like the personality of the person you're going for. they have to respresent sincerety, leadership, believability as defined by you. as much as I would like to see a female president, she is not necessarily the right woman, in my opinion. then again, maybe if obama wasn't running, she would be the best choice. all the republicans are bad news.

also, this whole healthcare deal. don't let anyone kid you, first we don't know the exact meaning of what she's proposing. if we actually end up getting 'true' universal healthcare, over the years to come there will be gradual tax burden shifted on to the people. the govt cannot have a sustained system without taxing the people as you can see in canada. people have taxes coming out of their rear ends because of the so-called 'free' stuff.

  7. Friends, if you can vote, please get out there and cast your vote if your state is participating in super tuesday.

Remember, the next 8 years, like the last 8, will be crucial for us.

  8. so when did you actually mail it out? if you mailed it out on Jan 24, it has only been 7 business days. it might still be floating around somewhere. I mean if expresspost has taken 5 business days for me, plus you guys were in a middle of a snow storm so you never know. if it can't be tracked then even the supervisor has no way of knowing if it's lost or what.

  9. get canadapost to issue you a letter that they in fact lost your package. then show it to the panel physicians to get a duplicate copy of your medical. if they charge to reissue, get canadapost to pay for it. i'd say go to the CEO if you have to. this is unacceptable.

I'm not a great fan of Canadapost myself.

  10. The process is quite simple. use the following link to locate an approved civil surgeon on your area. give them a call and tell them you only need a vaccination supplement completed. they know exactly what forms are required and so on. when your husband had your medical back home, they may have given him a copy for his records. he could bring that and any other proof of vaccination. based on age, they are not as particular about adults. mine checked with me verbally if i've had the chicken pox shot and I said no but i've been told i'm immune. so he said fine. tetanus is usually required once in 10 years so if you haven't had one, they'll take $10 or so and give you one.

once you call them, they'll tell you what to bring with you and the cost of the whole thing.
