Hi, I'm trying to fill out the I-130, but there are some questions I'm not sure how to answer. I haven't been living in the U.S. since 2021, so for example, I don't necessarily know what to put for the address of where my husband and I would live. I could put down my parent's/family house, but I'm not sure if there would be repercussions because that's not where we would be living. Also, I don't have an income because I'm not currently living in the U.S., I guess I will just have to apply with a cosigner, but it would be nice if there was a better way around it. Has anyone had experience trying to file while living abroad? Thanks so much for any advice!!

Hi, yes I checked and think I can make a reasonable case with my circumstances to qualify. I’m just not sure if there’s a formal way to do it, or if it’s just as simple as shooting an email that says like “this is what’s going on, are we qualified to apply at the consulate?”

I’m not sure I’m understanding the process of how it works, the first step is to reach out to a US consulate near you and explain your circumstances/if it’s possible to file the I-130 through them? Is that correct? And what steps would follow? Thanks so much!

Hi all, I wanted to get some community thoughts on hiring a lawyer to help with the CR1 visa. I know that it’s possible to complete the visa completely on your own, but I’m wondering if it’s worth it to hire a lawyer/if anyone had an comments on their experience either filing alone or with help. The reasons I’m considering a lawyer, or a website to check the paperwork, is because I’m hoping it will make the process be a little faster/simpler and I was looking at trying to expedite the process. Any thoughts/stories are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
