I am sooooo happy that finally I got my visa. My interview was on 1st and it went smoothly.... Thank God!!! The whole journey was very frustrating and tiresome but ended with great news.... Wow I just can't believe it.............................. :dance: I want to thank all visa journey members who have helped me in a tremendous way. Captain Ewok thanks a lot for all those guidelines... truly helpful. I wanna thank Mayfiler, Shamim, Chris parker, RandyandRina, Jigi, mgk, RSA and many others.......

Another twist in the story that highlights the disconnect between NVC / Consulate and VFS. My sister went to pay for VFS fees in Ahmedabad, Gujarat VFS office on March 25, 2008 and the guys wouldn't accept the Appointment Letter from NVC as authentic!!!!! They only recognize the letters issued by consulate as authenticate. My sister and her son talked to them with no avail and eventually had to return to their home town without doing anything. They have sent a letter to Mumbai Consulate requesting them to send an Appointment Letter from consulate or else educate their VFS counterparts so that they don't create unnecessary hassles to applicants.

The VFS staff was asking for original documents. So, they don't even know about the change in process. My nephew was able to convince them to accept photocopy of the originals, as we don't have originals (they were submitted to NVC and are now with consulate). I don't even see a need to submit copies, when originals are with consulate. Of course, since their interview is on Apr 15, they still have another week to sort this issue out with VFS and make payment.

Anyone with this sort of experience? Any suggestions how to deal with these ignorant VFS staff? Anyone who has a response from Consulate in this regards, if they raised this issue to Consulate?

I received my wife's interview letter couple of days back. It did have a list of documents that was filed with NVC like marriage certificate original, etc.

hope this helps. my wife has to file her documents with VFS in May. So, hopefuly VFS would get their act together.

even if you have submitted all original documents to NVC should we again submit it at VFS prior to interview. Isn't it enough to take it along with us for interview?

should the DS230 form also to be print or typed in capitals? in the form it only says print or type(capitals not mentioned)In the current address the space is not enough to print in capitals , so can i print in small letters, or can it be handwritten in capitals.

Oh and one thing the lady just said to write the case number on the form ( right hand upper corner).

should we write the case # at the right hand top cornner of DS230 ? and paste a photo on the left hand top cornner?, apart from the other two extra photos to be send along with DS230?

I am done with the 1st shot of MMR the next one is on 26th march. T&D shot is next week. I want to be prepared before the medicals.

i cannot locate an institute of preventive medicines in kerala, kochi.

is it enough that i take the vaccinations from any public health laborotary or from any government hospital.

what is the time gap between two shots of MMR.

We have paid our IV bill,

I have my original birth certificate, marriage certificate and PCC( applied for) and 2 photos( is it 5x5 or ordinary indian passport size?) and original divorce decree to be send along with my DS230.

while sending the original documents to the NVC along with DS230 , is it enough if i include the original civil documents of just the benificiary( my birth cirtificate , divorce decree) or should i include the birth cirtificate and divorce decree of the US citizen also. since the Ds230 is signed by me ( the benificiary) i felt that they are asking for my birth cirtificate and divorce decree . am i correct?

You have to send only one fee cheque of 70$ for both- your wife and step child.

My husband sent one cheque for visa fee , 400+400 in one cheque- it worked!

My hus has file I130for me and my child (in my previous marriage ) , i have a court order giving full custody of my child, someone told me that during interview they might ask for a letter from my ex to take her along with me, do you know anything about this?

I have a court order giving full legal custody of my child , i think that will be sufficient, it is difficult to get a consent letter from my ex.

Update: NVC told me that the case was complete during their consideration of interview schedule, and hence it was not included for March. However, NVC will not commit if it will be included for April. However, reading some comments, April interview is most likely scenario, with May a second possibility.

ELW: As of Jan 08, the process for many consulates around the world has changed. NVC now receives the civil documents, police clearance, photographs, etc. and NVC now sets up appointment. VFS does not come in picture, any more. The only thing that remains is Medical Exam, which can only be scheduled once a visa interview date is set.

Because of this transition, I am not sure if mumbai consulate will continue posting visa interview schedule to their website. I wish NVC does it, instead, as soon as they schedule a date. I also wish that NVC schedules an interview date on a rolling basis, instead of waiting for 2nd week of each month. This way, people who call in NVC Hotline, know much in advance if their interviews are scheduled for a given month.

ze22: Sorry to hear that you are not included for March, despite having a case completion date of Jan 18. What does NVC say about this?

When did you get your NOA2?

Make sure your interview is within 4 months, if it is not, send a letter to request them to extend the petition by 4 more months

I didn't know that the interview has to be within 4 months from NOA2. should we send the request to extend the petition even if it is the delay at NVC?

My husband got his divorce from previous marriage from US court. He is having only a copy of the divorce decree with him, Is it enough if i produce this copy for my interview at chennai. should i send his divorce decree along with my DS230.

Apart from birth certificate and copy of passport should i include any other civil documents along with the Ds230 of my daughter(from my previous marriage). I have got a court order giving me her full coustody .

Will NVC send us the DS230 form or should we download it , if so,is it necessary that we take the printouts on both sides of the paper.

If you are the single sponsor for both your wife and step child , is it necessary that you send two seperate AOS fee cheques of $70 each. since the AOS if from the same person isn't it enough to send only #70.

Also did you pay separate cheques for both IV bills or did you pay by one single cheque $800($400+$400)

i am not sure whether i have to post this query in this forum.

My husband has filed seperate I130 for me and my daughter(in my first marriage) and both are approved, He got the AOS fee bill and IV Fee bill for both of us on the same day . My doubt is since he is filing the affidavit if support(I864 )for both of us is it required to pay Two $70($140)as AOS fees?( $70 each for both of us). We are paying separate IV fee bill for both of us ($400+$400), is it enough to pay $870 ($70+$400+$400) in one single cashiers cheque.

Also please help me to understand the difference between I864 and I864EZ. He is self employed.
