  1. So we got married and filed the AOS packet before the 90 days was up. But I was wondering how we prove he's allowed to be here when the K1 visa technically had an expiration date after the 90 days. Is the paperwork stating that we filed our AOS forms sufficient? A social security card? Before the 90 days was up we'd gone to the dmv for him to take his permit test (he didn't drive in his country), and the woman was saying basically it would only be good until the date on our K1 visa, and after that he can't use it, for the permit and just an ID, but then said she was unsure. We didn't end up getting it that day since we needed a form from the eye doctor, but I'm unsure what to do. She'd told us to come back with all our forms and maybe it would be all fine, but we haven't yet since I'm worried about it being a big issue that the k1 visa 90 days is past. I believe we've done everything correctly, but I don't know how to prove it. Has anyone else ran into this problem?
  2. Hello! We're currently working on our I-485 form and ran into a few things that stumped us. We're adjusting status from the K1 visa. (Part 1, #25): The question says "When I last arrived in the United States, I,". I was guessing we mark 25.a. where it states he was inspected and admitted into the US, but I wasn't sure what to write in the box under that. I was thinking either K1 or fiancé, or is there something specific we're supposed to put there? (Part 1, #27): In that same section, #27 is asking what his current immigration status is. Would that just be K1 visa as well? We’re now married so not sure what to put there. (Part 2, #3-4): How/where do you find your receipt number and priority date of underlying petition? (Part 8, #61) I read a page about what public charge ground of inadmissibility was, but was having issue figuring this out. Under the k1 visa, is he going to be subject under the public charge ground of inadmissibly in INA section 212 (a) (4)? I do make enough to support him. We were going to fill out the following section regardless just in case, but we were also unsure about our household size. For the support forms I put just us two, but we do live with my parents. We're financially separate to them but reside in the same home. Do I need to put them as part of our household? It didn't seem right to when their income doesn't impact us. Thank you!
  3. Hello, we just had our interview last week, and they told my fiancé they were satisfied with the relationship, but we had gotten the wrong police clearance from one of the countries he lived in. He's already applied for the correct one, and they're just supposed to send the correct one to the embassy directly. Does anyone have any experience with having to provide more/different paperwork and how long it took afterwards? I know NZ sending the clearance is an unknown variable, but for about how long it takes for them to look at the case once again when they have the paperwork. We were wondering if they look at it not long after receiving the document, or it they're going to put it at the bottom of a pile and it could be months. The officer he talked to just said he didn't know how long it would take since he doesn't know how long it would take NZ to send the document, but didn't say anything about their end. They did keep his passport with them. We're just wondering since we had wedding plans for December (small not a large scale thing), and I want to let the few people know if it's going to have to be pushed off again. I know it varies, but I was just hoping to get some kind of idea of how long others had to wait. Thank you.
  4. Hello, we have the interview coming up next week so I was looking through what we have to do if he gets approved/once he's here and we're married. So far I'm kind of confused. How do we go about getting his SS card/number? And which forms do I have to fill out for this process? I've been seeing a few different things, and it's been saying he has to go through a medical exam, interview, etc. Are we having to go through all that again but now in the US or am I looking at the wrong things? I also seen that we should have proof of joint bank account, lease, etc for these steps but my bank won't allow him to be added until he has a SS #, and we'll be living with family so no rental agreements. I was assuming the Adjustment of Status form (I-485), the Affidavit of support (I-864), the work one (I-765), and the travel one (I-131) we should be doing, but is the I-130 Petition for a Spouse another one we have to do? It seemed a lot like the I-129F that we've already been approved for, but for a spouse instead. Honestly if someone has a sort of outline of this part of the process after already having I-129F/NVC/interview approval for the K1, and having already arrived and gotten married in the US, it would be immensely helpful. Or to point out where I could get some accurate information. Starting to have a bit of a panic over it since my fiancé wants to move nearly as soon as he can should we get the interview approval, and I don't want to make any mistakes in the next part of this. Thank you for any help/insight on this!
  5. Hello! I'm working on the I-134 Form right now, and I'm having a little trouble understanding a few questions if anyone could help. Also just any other tips or advice anyone has from doing this form would be welcomed. I've been able to get through the other forms myself, but I've been having problems finding info on this version of this form. 1. What should be put for "Beneficiary's Anticipated Length of Stay" (Part 2 #16)? We haven't bought flight tickets yet since we don't have the approval so I was unsure of what to put for the "from" date. Didn't want to just put a random date hoping he'll be approved by then if that's wrong. 2. For "Beneficiaries Income" (Part 2 #17) I don't understand the wording. Is this how he's supporting himself currently, or once he's here? Since of course he'll be quitting his job once he moves here, so he won't be supporting himself at all beyond some of his savings. Would I just just put $0 in there since he won't be supporting himself when he arrives? 3. Is a USCIS Online Account Number required (Part 3 #9)? If so how do you find your account number? I have an account, but I must be missing something because I don't see an account number anywhere on there. 4. For the "Intent To Provide Specific Contributions to the Beneficiary" (Part 3 #24) since I intend to provide all support indefinitely until he's able to work, is that just what I state? Wasn't quite sure how to word that. He'll be living with me, I'll provide transportation, provide food, money he needs for other things, etc . But I wasn't sure that "everything indefinitely" was a sufficient answer?
