To update in case someone is going through the same situation, we just got both passports!

OMG! I hope we get lucky this time and they process both passports at the sane time

I submitted both applications yesterday, the supervisor said it should work if we include a letter explaining the situation and add a copy of the certificate to one of the applications which we did. she also mentioned that these 2 applications will be sent together but the final say will be for the department of state, so fingers crossed

Thank you, I already read this but don’t have the time to do this because our appointments are tomorrow, also because I read many comments about this not being accepted and that they solely accept the original certificate. Will try tomorrow to submit both applications and may be we get lucky and everything works out without hiccups.

I think the CRBA helps because the CRBA is their “proof” of citizenship, but will ask about this tomorrow also, thank you!

Hmm, is your kid a US born? Or was born abroad? If it’s like my case (born abroad) then may be I can try to discuss this with the agent tomorrow

I can not use the U.S passport, only the original naturalization certificate is accepted. I read on the USCIS website that I can submit a copy of the naturalization certificate but then read many comments that a copy isn’t being accepted to process a passport application. The don’t qualify for CRBA, they came here on IR2 visa and got their green cards but once they’re in the U.S they’re automatically citizens because I was a citizen before they were born, this is why my naturalization certificate is their proof of citizenship.

Hi, did you apply for more than one kid at the same time using 1 original naturalization certificate? Because am going through this now and have been told that I need to apply for one kid at a time because for each passport application I need the original naturalization certificate!

Hello, I am a U.S citizen by naturalization. My twins were born abroad and came to the US when they were 2 yo. Now they are 4, and am applying for their US passports.Since they were born abroad, my naturalization certificate is their proof of citizenship, the agent where I am applying told me on the phone that I have to apply one at a time because I need to submit my original naturalization certificate with each passport application. My question is, is there any way to “link” their 2 applications together so I can submit them at the same time, or my only option now is to apply for one of the twins now and then wait until they mail back my naturalization certificate and apply for the other twin?

Hi, thank you so much for all the information you gave me, but I have one more question. I got my son’s change of name court order and booked 2 appointments to get the passports for him and his twin brother. Our appointments are tomorrow but the agent told me today that I have to apply for their passports one at a time, because my naturalization certificate is their proof of citizenship and for each application I need the original certificate. My question is, can’t they link 2 passports applications together? Do I really have to wait for the first passport to come back and get my original certificate then reapply again for the other twin? I really appreciate the guidance! Thanks.
