I never thought it would come to this but I guess here we are. My wife and I just welcomed our first son, coincidentally receiving her invitation to attend the embassy interview on the same day.. talk about luck. We understand that we need to apply for an IR2 visa for our son to accompany her, and we're considering requesting an expedited process to make sure that both visas are issued at the same time (if possible). Fyi I'm the USC but I don't have the full 5 years to apply for the CRBA for him. I have a few questions and was hoping to get some guidance.

Is the IR2 visa application just a standard I-130?

How can we request an expedition for this process?

Do we have to request an expedition during the NVC stage as well?

Apart from showing proof that he's my son and obtaining a passport for him, what additional documents are required for his visa application?

Considering the timeline of 2 months until the embassy interview, is it feasible to complete all necessary steps in this timeframe?

Would it be advisable for my wife to proceed with her interview while our son's application is under review, and we wait until his visa is issued before making travel arrangements?

Any other suggestion you folks may have for us?
