Thanks for the great ideas, guys.
We're gonna try to find something about the mother through the 1940s census..
I also found out we can get the green card for the son through Registry, since he has been living in the US since before 1972. I just don't know how long the process would be. and also if he would qualify even though he is already a citizen...
