i am US citizen married to a Colombian. My wife was given a visa to enter Usa last July. SHE and daughter came to USA IN November. They were here for a month but had to return to Colombia as was under doctors care. My wife original visa to immigrate expired last Dec 14. SHE left the country Dec 22. I NOW have her 10 year green card. BUT she has not lived here for the required 6 months. SHE wants to return and live here now. WILL she have a problem at immigration on return?

My wife was approved for visa at Bogota colombia after 3 visits to embassy. A month ago. Checked website and it shows visa printed. However she did not pay for delivery. Lives in Medellin. How can she contact someone to pay for the passport delivery? She has heard nothing and has not been contacted.

I am the petiitioner for a Cr-1 applicant. Is there a way for me to check that a visa was granted at the embassy in Bogota Colombia? I only have the case number from NVC and invoice number.

i am sending in my package of i864 to NVC. I have a cover letter for my wife as principal applicant. But not a cover letter for my step-daughter... both in same packet. Do i need a cover letter for my daughter as well?

US citizen filled for CR-1/CR-2 (.I-130). I currently live with my wife in Medellin, Colombia. I have been told that it is possible to have the Medical and Interview done in Medellin at the new consulate/embassy there. Has anyone in the Colombian Portal been able to do everything from Medellin, rather the travel to the Bogota Embassy?.

There is a 1 year expiration on the 1-130, CR-1... Does the time start when the application is submitted to USCIS. Or when it is approved, NOA 1 or NOA 2 date?

File the DIVORCE as soon as you can get to a court house. Immediately. Get those papers served. Important to be the first to file for the divorce. I DO KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. THE COURT WILL ALWAYS SIDE WITH THE PETITIONER ON A DIVORCE CASE. Get out and always have protection near you. Friends, family. He will strike at you when you least expect it. NEVER LET YOUR GUARD DOWN. Get a restraining order against him. I had some what of a similar story. But not abuse. I was the citizen husband. My wife came to USA and in two weeks of arrival had two boyfriends in less then a month. She became pregnant from one of them. Never home weekends. Didn't care. She bragged to her co-workers about the fraud on the marriage. Even with all the proof I presented to ICE, they would not deport her or her children. I was still responsible for her support even after the divorce. Your case is a bit different in that he has been to jail over abuse. No he can not get a new petitioner. I honestly belive that he will be deported because of that. AND PLEASE BE CAREFUL.

My bad. I stand corrected. Thanks

In the guides for submitting I-130, Item 7 needs to be corrected. It states the birth certificate of the alien is not needed. I received an RFE for not including a certified birth certificate and official translation, for my step-daughter. Please correct this so others will not have a RFE delay.

I previously put in an application for I-130 for a Colombian woman and two children in 2009.( I think) We divorced and ex-wife destroyed all documents. It was visa fraud. Does anyone know how to recover dates these documents were submitted?

I will give you my two cents worth. The same thing happened to me. My wife had two boyfriends in two weeks of arriving in USA. One was a lawyer she had met on a cupid site before she left her native country. The other was a Mexican national with US citizenship. I had evidence of e-mails, chat sessions from computer, personal signed notes and letters. Photos of infedelity and vacations with one of the men to Mexico. The lawyer gave her $2000 to get a divorce. (Which I think she returned). One of the men even made her pregnant but there was complications. The wife filed a restraining order against me.. The case was thrown out of court. The judge saw right through what she was doing to stay in USA. I was granted a divorce. I turned everything in to the fraud unit and and the ex-wife was not deported. I have no idea why. I never heard from immigration. She kept her green card. My ex-wife met another man and re-married. She is now a US citizen. IT WAS PURE FRAUD ON HER PART. SHE HAD NO ENTINSIONS OF STAYING WITH ME. I found out later, she had help and coaching from a friend in the government of Colombia. So fraud or not, it depends on what immigration wants to do.

I am semi-retired in Medellin. Have a year before visa renewal. My fiancé spoke with a local attorney and he said it was the same all over Colombia. I do not speak Spanish. This is all being told to me as the way it is. I wish I knew someone in Medellin that spoke English and I could talk with a notary or an attorney myself.

I am a US citizen. My fiancée and I want to marry in Colombia and do an Cr1. She has a minor child and owns no property. We are being told by notaries in Medellin that we must get an attorney and it will take 3 months to marry. My papers are new and will expire in 90 days. I need to return to work in USA in a month. Has anyone in Colombia had this problem? Where can we get married without the hassel of an attorney and the 3 month wait?

OMG, are you ever lucky. I have similar story. I was married to a woman from Colombia. Lived in Bogota for 9 months, while we waited for her immigration visa for her and two boys. Two weeks after arriving in USA, she has two boyfriends. One gave her money for a divorce. That was planned. Another took her to Cancun for 3 weeks and she came back pregnant. That put me on the hook for 10 years of support. We divorced after three years and she has remarried to another American. I gave immigration sufficient evidence to deport her for visa fraud. They did nothing. I had text messages, e-mail, letters that showed she had no plans of staying with me. Consider yourself lucky. Honestly !!!!

I am a us Citzen applying for a k-1 and k-2. I preciouly sponsored a wife and her two children from Colombia. We divorced and she is now remarried. My ex-wife and her two children are now US citizens. My obligations on the I-864 are now over. How do I fill out a new I-864 for my fiancee'/daughter and qualify under poverty guidlines? It is required that you list all people you have previously sponsored.

Here is my proof of fraud: She arrived USA July 2009 and we were married March 2008 in Colombia. 1. She is on many websites trolling for a man. Zoosk, Latin Cupid, Colombian cupid. printed her profiles. Never stopped looking. Says she is a widow.
2. printed profile of one man she has been seeing since the month she arrived in USA. Sept.2009 They still talk. She knew him when she was stll in Colombia waiting for visa, and contacted each other within a month of arriving.
3. photos of her and her then Mexican American boyfriend in Cancun last summer. June 2010, very incriminating photos. He sent me the photos
4. Her doctor bill from the gynacologist. felopian tube pregnancy. total $15,000. (she told me it was appendectomy.) Am i stupid ??
5. birthday card from her two men friends for two years and other cards.
6. I will grab her computer if Immigration wants to see it.
7. Immigration told me to cancel her CR-1 and not renew the I-751. Also told me to watch out for spousal abuse charge. trying to cover my a$$.
I had print outs of her chat sessions saying she did not like her husband within a month of arriving in USA and professed liking her one lawyer friend and wanted to be with him. Yes she bilks money from him too. Her boys found that evidence and destroyed it.
She is a piece of work! Black widow.

US citizen married to LPR. She became pregnant from one of her men friends. Now lost baby. I can not have children and no intimacy in over a year. She started meeting men a month after she arrived in USA, July 2009. She wants to divorce me and go on welfare for her and her two LPR sons. They have a co-sponsor. She wants her hospital and GYN bill paid by medicaid and state funding.(about $15,000). I'm on social security and we are barely able to make it. She makes very little money and quite her regular job, so she could go to Cancun with her Mexican boyfriend. They have now split up, but she does not love me anymore. Her green card expires in July 2011. I will not renew it. What are my options here? If I give her a divorce, will welfare come after me to repay them and the medcaid bill for her prenancy ? God I was duped for a green card.

would advise as other onw has, buy refundable ticket. I bought tickets for my wife and children. Were first turned down for a medical reason. Lost tickets. Next interview. Wife passed interview. Presumed children would go to thier interview and pass. They were turned down first interview. Lost tickets. When children passed second interview, I bought new tickets. Never presume your loved ones will pass interview.

Don't worry about the debts. The embassy could care less. My wife owed thousands of dollars to 4 different banks in Colombia. No problem. She came up to USA and paid all her debt off from a job in USA.

I am the US citizen and my wife came here on CR-1 visa. I think I was used. She started running around as soon as she got here. Men, internet, phone calls, partying without husband, meetings.... We are now seperated but marriage just barely hanging on. If I divorced this woman before the AOS in 2011, would she and her two boys be sent back to Colombia?
-
Not sure of your time line, but it seems to me you are not married, if she is your fiancee'. You brought her to the US on a K-1 visa?
You have 90 days after her arrival to get married. Don't do it if you don't want to. She will have to go back to here home country. Not sure how Immigration handles that. They may send her back and give you the bill or a free trip. I just do not have the answer.

[i would advise you attend the interview. It took my wife three interviews to get approved. It took my sons two. What a hassel. But then , some do not have any trouble.

My wife arrived in USA in August from Colombia. We have been married almost two years. She has made many new latino friends from work. She went out with friends a couple of times and came home late and drunk. Of course I was not invited with her latino friends. She ran my phone bill up so high I couldn't pay it. Men calling all times at night. Going into bath room and making private calls. I had cel shut off. Still looking for amigos on Latin and Colombian Cupid. I put her name on my bank accounts. She has her own from work and will not put me on hers. I bought her a car. I am paying all the bills, car payment, insurance, Utilities, rent, and she will not help with anything. She is stock piling her earnings. Tells me "We want to move to Florida, don't we". Stays on computer all night chating, goes to bed with out saying a word usually. Pushes me away at night. No embrassing, no kiss, no sex. She has two boys. When they start talking their Espanol, it's 3 against 1. They go off by themselves. Maybe I'm just being paranoid and nothing is going on. How do you prove fraud after getting the green card? Because this woman is GOOOOD. I have never seen a more scheming woman in my life.

Diane,
How do you get the green card and Social security card name changed to married name? I thought you had to have the passport changed first. DMV not a problem. Just showed marriage license with translation.

My wife and daughter came to USA in Nov 2016. STAYED 3 WEEKS AND WENT BACK TO COLOMBIA. DAUGHTER HAD medical appointments for a condition. THE WIFE returned to USA in June and is still in Usa. The daughter is 14 and has not wanted to return to Usa. Boyfriend...in Colombia. HER CR2 WILL EXPIRE NOV OF 2018. Since the daughter has only been in Usa 3 weeks in Nov 2016, I worry she will not be admitted back to Usa. PROVIDING MY DAUGHTER charges her mind, is there a way to get an extension of time on the Cr2?
