Hello,
In preparation for a (hopefully) speedy NVC process, we have spent the day investigating all we will need.
Daher spent the years from age 16-18 living with his parents in the United Arab Emirates. He then moved to Jordan, and has lived there for the past 8 years (he is of Jordanian nationality) Based on everything we've read on the USCIS/NVC web sites, he will need to obtain a police record from the UAE. However, when we look at the reciprocity site, it states the below.
Specifically look at the red bold part.
Police Records
Available, only if applicant is physically present in the UAE.
Police certificates may be obtained by any person, regardless of nationality, by personally appearing at the Central Police Headquarters located in the emirate of residence or former residence. When appearing to request a police certificate, the applicant should provide recent photographs, a letter from the requesting authority, the date of residence in the emirate, and their passport.
Not available by mail. Post recommends that consular officers waive the general requirement to obtain police certificates unless the applicant lives in the UAE.
Does this mean he will not need to travel to the UAE to obtain the certificate? Who is "Post" and does their recommendation always get accepted by the US Embassy?
Any help is, as always, appreciated!!

Its funny how it happened, we got our first touch yesterday, the system updated the last date after a very hard week... we got so happy for the touch and we celebrated, and when i woke up in the morning, i read the email and i was too sleepy and I realized it wasn't just a touch, it was the approval notice =) .. so i had to wake her up at 4 AM
With the help of this community we were able to put the package together the right way. thx everybody =)

thanks for the info.. and yea, that is what concerns me, i live in jordan and it takes about 2 weeks for the police reports to come out, and i also lived for two years in Abu Dhabi (UAE) and I don't know how to get the police reports from that country.. I can't go there to get it thats for sure.
-
.. so now that we're waiting for I-130's NOA2, is it a good idea to get the nvc forms signed up and mailed already? or do i have to wait for the approval to start that?
also, about the police reports, does getting them now to save some time a good idea or is it against the rules?
Thanks in advanced.

YOU SHOULD NOTARIZE THEM.
It's free at any bank.

Hi Diane.. welcome.. I was looking at your timeline that you've listed... you might want to adjust the year indicated as ur wedding and filing date
Hi Kitty,
All of those dates are correct. We were extremely happy and shocked when we received our NOA-1 on Friday...but the dates are 100% accurate. We can put the minutes if you'd like.
(It's listed as DayDay.MonthMonth.YearYear)
NOA-1 says our case was sent to the CA service center. Thanks!

contrats... hope you get things done asap..

Good point. For an I-130, you check "other" and write "CR1 visa". For an I-129F for spouse you check "other" and write "K3 visa" or in both cases, simply write the petition number.
Thank you for the extremely thorough information! If you hadn't specified this, we would have incorrectly submitted our forms with "I-129F." We are filing for the K-3 visa (which I'm hoping still exists...!!!)
I have one final question, on the G-325a there is a bold box that asks for the applicant's name and Permanent Resident number. Should each person but their own name? My wife is a citizen, and therefore does not have a permanent resident number, and I am applying for residence. Should we just but N/A under the resident number?
Thanks again!

So, we're filing our I-130 very soon, we got everything ready, but there's something that is confusing us at this point, its regarding the g-325a form.
At the end of the form it is required that the "Applicant" should sign and date it.. and it has to be the original.. So one form for me, and one form for my wife (The applicant of the I-130) does that mean, she should sign both? or should I sign my copy ?
One other question, the wedding certificate that we're sending a photo of, should it be signed and noterized by the US embassy of my country?
We've been reading a lot everywhere and we're still new to this, so I apologize if this info was stated clearly somewhere.. thanks in advanced

looks like you don't have to translate any certificates because you can issue a certificate in english from the ministry of interior / department of civil affairs ( el27wal elmadaniah )
-
I'm in jordan, does anybody know what will i have to do to get my marriage certificate ready for filing at USCIS ?
many thanks in advanced.

Alright, looks like some extra rules are now in effect.
Its so retarded to do things in jordanian courts, there are no places to check the rules, and the judge doesn't even know the rules and the trainee had to explain to him the new rules.. it was funny and retarded at the same time.. and depressing..
Here's what we did so far... 2 days have passed
1. Blood tests. ( $10 each )
2. Certify it at a public medical center.
3. US Embassy. ( they wasted the whole day, she wrote her afidavit that she's single and I translated it, and we waited for the counsel and she signed it infront of her and then it got stamped and we payed $30 )
Note at the embassy, go last, so that you'll be surved first, we went first and we got surved last, they stack the papers the other way around I'm sure.. stupid idiots =)
4. Translate her passport.
5. Religion Court: Fill in the marriage form / get signed by a stupid judge (read above)
6. The court will give you a request for the minister of interior for marriage approval.
7. Ministry of Interior - Department of imigrants and foriegners. We went to so many windows and got so few papers and we got it signed from the department president, he asked me personal questions about her and asked me what i do and asked me to prove that we're legit. We got a paper back to the court.
8. Now we realize that the paper we got from the embassy needs to be certified from the ministry of exterior and the "judge of Judges" or supreme court.
9... pending... hopefully we'll finish it tomorrow..

Hello everyone,
Its getting close and we're going to the court on sunday to get officially married ( Katb ktab ). I'm wondering what kind of papers are required for this, i could go to the court and ask, but I thought if someone did this recently they could help me speed things up.
Comments and tips are appreciated.

Thank you! Yes, I have that, and I have it printed out and have read it many times. I just wasn't clear as to if "Copy" meant "Photocopy" or "Certified Copy."
I just don't want anything to delay me!

Hi There,
Getting ready to get married (Feb 16th) and getting paperwork finalized.
I am the US citizen and it is my understanding that I need to send a photocopy of my birth certificate - and not a certified copy.
Can anyone confirm for me?
Thanks!!

Wow, this community is awesome! Thanks for all the info, I think this answers our question…sorry parents, you’re coming to Jordan!
-
I live in Jordan. and my parents are asking if I could do the marriage where they live, and its the United Arab Emerites, and I'm sure it has a US embassy.. I'll try to see what kind of laws they have about two forigners getting married there.. thats important I guess..

Thanks everybody for the reply and thank you you lisa.. Its a bit confusing still to browse this website, so I'll start to read more often =)

Hello, I have a question, does it matter where our wedding is taking place? We might have our wedding in a 3rd country would that be a problem? my parents live in that country for over 20 years, and I've lived there in the past. Just woundering what are the disadvantages to this action.
Thanks for the opinions in advanced.

I have a little question, my fiancee and I decided to get married eitherway, so we're thinking about going through with the k1 process because it seems to be a faster solution, and our wedding will most probably be with in two-three months. whats going to happen if we do it? by the time the k1 visa is out, we no longer going to be engaged but married.
is it recommended to go this way? or should we wait until we get married and then file for k3 and go on with the other process.
Thanks in advanced.
PS. awesome community, I've found many answers just by reading other topics. =)
