  1. Just wanted to share with everyone that I recently returned from my citizenship interview in SF. It was pretty straight-forward, and my application was "recommended for approval".

Nothing out of the ordinary - came in 10 mins before the scheduled interview. Waited for approx 20 mins, and the interview itself lasted for ~30 mins.

It's been mentioned in this forum too, but the officer was very detailed and reviewed my N400 line-by-line. From time to time he also made notations on the form. There were some questions I didn't expect - such as whether I'm renting or buying, who lives at my place, whether my wife came w/ me in the past 4 international trips I listed on the form, whether I've ever had any traffic ticket, whether my wife or myself have ever had any children outside marriage anywhere in the world, where's my wife right now, among others. He also asked for a joint bank statement and car insurance, which I fortunately had with me. In addition, he also took a very careful look at my joint tax statement.

Here are the questions asked (not in this order):

    1. US flag color

    2. Father of the country

    3. How many members there are in supreme court

    4. Who's the commander in chief of US military

    5. How many branches there are in the US govt

    6. Who elect congress

    7. Requirements to be a president

    8. Most important right to US citizen

I hope the oath letter will come soon, and good luck to everyone. Feel free to write me if you have any questions I could help you with.

    Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

    Congratulations!!

  2. I don't know exactly what this means, but I found out today that the National Benefits Center mailed my wife's application to our local USCIS office yesterday. I would assume that means an interview letter will be coming soon, but I have no idea. Hopefully this is the beginning of good news for October filers.

How did you find that out? Is there a number to call Ntional Benefits Center?

  3. Got my bio done today.

  4. I had sent my application to VSC on 22nd September and the check was cashed on 26th .... but i haven't received any communication from the VSC .. is this normal ?

I see most of the people got some sort of confirmation sooner than my waiting period ..

Anyone you can talk to ?

It should take approximately one month from the date they recieve application to the Bio date, so i don't think you should be worried yet .

  5. Just got my bio appointment notice. I'm scheduled for fingerprinting on 10/17/2008.

What do you guys think will happen if i get my interview date before i meet 3 year continuance resident requirements? I filed N400 right when 90 day window opened. Does one has to be 3 year green card holder before interview date or oath ceremony?

    Thanks

  6. Last week a friend of mine got the Oath ceremony done so he will be able to vote for the coming elections I am so jealous!!!
Given the trash we have to choose from in this country, why would voting matter to you?

Just got my NOA today. Date shown on receipt is 09/23/2007. Please update my ifo.

akdiver do you have a case filed with uscis or you are just massing around with people?

Got my biometrics appointment yesterday. Interestingly it says "If you are unable to appearat this time, you may go on any following wednesday at the same time noted below, as long as you appear before 12/30/08". How accommodating of them, never seen that before!

annelizabeth could you please post your timeline.

  8. Thanks. I knew we're supposed to file I-90, but am not sure which reason to put on the form. The card was incorrect and lost. Do I mark both reasons down?

You still have to go through the same prosses to get your new card. Just file I-90 form.

Also tell your wife NOT to carry a green card on her. There is no need to. All she needs to do is to get her ID at the local DMV office and carry it with her instead of GC.

  9. The relevant point from the text you quoted is:

If you do not tell USCIS about these offenses and we find out about them, you may be denied naturalization (even if the original offense was not a crime for which your case would have been denied).

If you say "NO", and they do a simple search of DMV databases, they'll find out you got a ticket and you risk having your naturalization denied. Not for the ticket itself, but for having neglected to mention it on your application.

If you say "YES", you don't have to provide any more documentation. You just explain that it was for a traffic ticket with a total penalty less than $500.00, and write down as many details as you can remember. It won't hurt your chances of naturalization.

You've already had an attorney tell you to say "YES". Put me down as another vote to say "yes". You've got nothing to lose by saying "yes", and everything to lose by saying "no".

You don't have to say yes unless the traffic fine was more than $500. I asked my lawyer before filing for I-751 were identical question is asked and he said not to mention anything about it. I have 5-6 traffic citations.

Almost forgot to mention that my I-751 was approved last week.

  12.  A nice Christmas pressie for the children and I  . I had orignally filed in April but the package was sent back to me because I had sent too much money!! For some reason I could not add up

that day and sent an extra $10.(It was'nt a bribe :innocent: ) My new date was June 26th and my card was ordered yesterday the 18th so almost a week short of 6 months!

I will file for citizenship next year

    congrads!

  13. Good evening all,

We submitted an I-751 for my wife back in April. We did not receive an NOA or a biometric appoint. We submitted a service request back in June. Their letter stated that it was still pending service. Thus since my wife's residence card expired in June we made an infopass appointment. We were able to obtain a stamp in the passport. We called several times to follow up but no response regarding the biometric appointment. In October we submitted another serviced request. We received a response, and to our surprise the original appointment letter was included. The letter stated that it was concluded that the appointment letter was lost in the mail. In November (before Thanksgiving) we went to the Biometrics office, and my wife was finger printed.

Here is the problem, today we received a letter stating that we did not fulfill the biometric step, the case was considered abandon. If we want the case to be reopen we would have to file a motion and pay $600. I find this totally absurd. We followed all the necessary steps. I called ucsic and spoke to customer service. Their response was to pay the $600. I will try again tomorrow and this time try to speak with an immigration officer. Just in case, we made an infopass appointment, as we have proof that we did not abandon the case.

Has anyone faced this type of problem??

    Thanks

At the time of bio they put a stamp on the biometrics appointment letter. That's your proof that you have successfully completed the bio.

  14. Hmmm.

We had biometrics back at the end of October, and haven't been "touched" since 11/02. This seems slow by CSC standards.

Anyone have any insights as to what's going on? Or just be patient?

    Thanks.

i had biometrics October 24 in Los Angeles and got approved December 5. Their processing time is pretty much within considerable time - just my observation. I am sure your approval is on its way. Goodluck!

I did my Bio in San Francisco on 10/23/2007 and haven't heard anything from them since.

    Good Luck!
