  1. Gosh I hope so…. It’s driving me crazy! Everything I read in this situation seems to say it will be issued soon.
  2. (all dates / times Korea Standard Time) 5 Aug - At our embassy interview we failed to turn in some documents (missing). We got a 221g (requested we send the missing documents) and we responded (sent everything asked for) that day. CEAC shows “Refused” after the interview. 8 Aug - CEAC shows an update for 8 Aug and “Ready” as the status. 19 Aug - passport status on cgifederal.secure.force.com said passport is with the US Consulate CHANGED to “Document Delivery Information”. ustraveldocs passport locator says it’s with the consulate. Email says no information on passport (did say with the consulate) and finally phone says “delivered to post.” 23 Aug - CEAC shows an update to our case. Wife receives a phone call from the embassy at around 1400 requesting our address in the US to send her green card (I failed to add it because I was in the process of buying). Says the visa is approved, waiting final approval (wife said his Capt needed to approve it - I’m translating) visa should be sent out tomorrow. 24 Aug - no notice from the embassy, CEAC date updates, status changes from “Ready” to “Administrative Processing” at around 1300 (Korea Time). Is it safe to assume this administrative processing is the good one, the visa is getting added to the passport and “Issued” is soon to follow? the stress is killing me! Omg!
  3. We applied, direct consulate file to the embassy, it was accepted. Did all the paperwork, approved for an interview. Had the interview, at the interview they asked for her "court documents" we didn't have them (didn’t know to bring them) we got a blue slip.... we returned the passport and court documents as requested on the blue slip (the same day - Friday - Aug 5). CEAC showed the visa status as "refused" after the interview. The following Monday on CEAC (Aug 8), the status changed to "Ready". I assume this is the day the embassy received the documents requested. CEAC showed as updated and “ready” 8 Aug, then another update was made on 11 Aug but it still shows "ready" (I guess an internal update) it says that we need to schedule an interview if it is not already scheduled. I assume we do not have to do a second interview and we have not received anything saying we have to do another interview. They have her police records, court documents (she paid her fine and owes nothing more, case is closed). She did her medical, she was evaluated by a psychologist for alcoholism (health). We did this twice by mistake, long story, (so she knows what the evaluation says), isolated issue, no sign of repeated issues, no indication of alcohol abuse. We also reported this issue on all applicable visa forms. The embassy has asked for nothing more… and we have heard nothing more. What's your thoughts? Approved/denned? What’s happening? Verification of all we submitted? Any idea on a time frame? They have everything they need and requested and had her send her passport back with the court documents (when they requested it on the blue slip) are we missing or could we could be doing? Any idea on length of time this may take to get a result? Thanks
  4. I’m going to have to ask around the air base about this. Other than the legal office I’m not aware of any thing or any one specifically that would have this duty.
  5. Last lived 2014. Last visited 2016. Paid joint usa taxes from 2009-2021.
  6. Also… im asking because I do not know… is there a chance if she would go to the closest usa port city, as kind of a “test”… they would tell her she cannot leave the USA pending an immigration hearing to determine her status? again, I have no idea so… I want to ask.
  7. I am in Korea, I am in the military. i will leave Korea in early July. We have an appointment to direct file to the us consulate on 15 June. We have to DCF before I leave Korea or we will lose the right to do so….and then have to go through the USCIS, NVC, Interview process (which I understand is much longer). currently we are thinking. - June 15 file (I’m willing to lose the $ and understand I may). Setup interview for early August. - I leave early July, set up a house and place to live in the US. - Her and the kids (kids are us citizens) try to come mid/late July. If they are NOT turned away great…we cancel the interview appointment / DCF. If they are turned away she returns and goes to the early august interview. bad idea? Good idea? Thoughts? We don’t want to play the system, and we don’t want to put anything in jeopardy.
  8. Great question. She hasn’t been in the USA since 2016 for two months. Isn’t that going to be considered abandoning her residence in the USA? The fact she left in 2014 and returned in 2016 without issue gives me hope all is good…. And we will have no issues… but want to ask. i have one shot to DFC because I leave the country and return to the USA in august. After that if her residency and green card are NOT good, I will have to go through the USCIS, NVC and so on…. Taking a lot longer. thus before I leave I’m willing to eat the non-refundable money and lose it…. Just in case her status would be invalid, screwed up or something odd…. Based on this situation. am I over thinking this?
  9. Hello all, BACKGROUND: Wife was married to an American in 2009. Got her green card in 2011 and went to the us with her spouse. Green card was renewed in 2013 for 10 years. She left the us with her husband and two kids (usa citizens) in 2014. She returned to the USA for 2 months in 2016, had no issues upon reentry, then went back to her home country with spouse and kids. Applied and was approved an updated green card/visa application in January 2020. Covid happened, didn’t return to the USA. Spouse and her divorce in july 2020. We got married early this year. We have an appointment to direct file with the consulate on June 15 (turn in the documents), she will get interview at a later date. Her green card (10 year) expires in august 2023. questions: 1. Can we check if her green card is good and she can enter the USA on it? 2. If the answer to 1 is yes, can we do an adjustment to allow me to be her sponsors upon entry? 3. Is it best to just go through the DCF and let everything else go? 4. Any suggestions? 5. We hope to go to the USA together in a few months to buy a home, using her green card (if she has not been approved yet for our application together), is this wise? (Thus I’m asking question 1). If more info is needed I will supply it… just looking for best options or if anyone else has been in this situation. thanks
