Is this correct; 30 days after you get your FP's done and your case hasn't moved can you contact USCIS?
I believe that only applies if you had never received a receipt from USCIS for a case you filed. According to the processing times for New York, USCIS is currently dealing with N400 applications filed before August 22, 2010...so I think if I was to call them 30 days after biometrics, the only thing they would tell me is that it is within processing times. Thankfully, I saw on another site that one Dec 31 (Jan filer) from New York received his/her interview letter for next month...
That being said, I guess it wouldn't hurt to call and see if you get anywhere...

I just called too. Mine were sent back same day I did them.
Do you know if there is anyway to check your background and name check status?
That one I do not know...if you find out, let me know too!!!

So does that mean all the checks have been done and you are just waiting for USCIS to update your case?
Or is it just purely FP and not a background check?
I believe it's just fingerprints but I am not absolutely sure on that...

What do you ask them & what info do they need from me?
Listen to the options when you call. I called them about 15 minutes ago (don't remember the choices). There is an option to speak to customer service about your case. Told him I wanted to check the status of my biometrics check for immigration. The guy I got just asked for my A# and the date I had my biometrics done. And there was no long wait time (as soon as I chose the option for the representative, I had someone on the line).
But I had my receipt number handy too just in case I needed to provide them with that...

I called the FBI (304 625 5590) today to check the status of my fingerprint check. It was received by them on 03/31 and response sent back on the same day to USCIS. But I am in New York so I figure I will have awhile to wait before anything more happens with my case...
