  1. in my opinion, and it ain't worth much, they (POE duded) have no clue if you have relationship visa (k1, k3, cr-1) in the works!! There system isnt updated with that info, BUT when they interview you, it can be added and tracked!! Thats just my opnion and have no way to factually back that up! Lot of the Police systems don't even talk to each other!! USA seems to be lacking in that kind of communication set up!!

I'm pretty sure this is the case as well - US Customs and Border Services and USCIS are two different departments, they probably don't share databases. Also, I don't recall ever being asked for my passport number on any of the I129F forms, so how would they know?

  2. Hi all!

Just to add my two cents...I am in the US right now visiting, and I have a K-1 pending. I got the third degree at my POE (Calgary airport). I was asked lots of questions, including 'What is the purpose of your visit?', 'When is the last time you visited?', 'Is your fiance an American citizen?', 'How long are you staying?', 'Do you have a job in Calgary?', 'What is your profession?', 'Do you have a permanent residence in Canada?'

I answered all the questions truthfully, and I had lots of evidence to back it up (although he never asked to look at any of it). I never mentioned the pending K-1 visa - I said I was coming to visit my fiance, but since the officer never specifically asked whether I intended to immigrate to the US, it never came up. I had a copy of it in my bag just in case, though. Anyway, after all that he did let me through, the whole thing only took a few minutes although it felt like hours!

I noticed that as I answered his questions, he was typing stuff into his computer monitor. I am very curious to know what he was writing! I wonder if I will be 'flagged' somehow from now on. Anyway, it doesn't really matter, since the next time I come through the border it will be with my K-1 visa.

Anyway, that was my experience, good luck to the rest of you!

  3. That date on the USCIS website (July 19th) means that supposedly CSC are working on I129F petitions that were submitted around that date. Of course we all know from VisaJourney that they are actually working on Aug-Sep right now. I believe that USCIS purposely puts a date that is at least a month behind what they are actually working on to prevent too many people from calling to check on their case status! If you do call them, they will apparently just tell you to be patient because they are 'still working on files submitted on July 19th...' and only call back when your case is outside that processing timeframe. Argh! I wouldn't pay much attention to what the USCIS website says - VisaJourney is the way to go...

  4. I had this same dilemma when I got my Police Clearance from Australia...I am a Canadian, but I lived in Australia for a year. I could never find a 100% definitive answer on this - so I decided to be on the safe side and get the national fingerprint check. Yeah, it costs more, but better to be on the safe side. From looking at the Australia forums, it looks like the fingerprint check is what the Aussies get for themselves, so that helped seal the decision for me.

By the way, the police clearance letter took about 6 weeks to arrive.

    Good luck!

  5. Stop filling people with the false information that VSC is infinitely better than CSC. I filed in July and haven't heard anything. There are still filers from May who haven't had a touch.

VSC was better than CSC, but that's not the case anymore.

Wow, that sucks, I'm sorry to hear you've been waiting so long. It looks like VSC is really inconsistent in their approvals - some October filers have been approved already, while others from months earlier still wait. If they keep this up, I suppose this could mean that some of the VSC October filers could be left in the cold for many more months, too. I hope not for their sake.

At least CSC is consistent in it's slowness...I'm not sure that's a good thing...

  6. They're talking about citizenship applications, not K-1 visa applications.

I'm wondering if maybe CSC is redirecting some of their resources to concentrate more on the citizenship applications. This would explain why the K1 approvals have slowed to a trickle lately. I remember reading a newspaper article saying that they wanted to approve as many naturalizations as possible so people could vote in the next elections.

Of course, I feel bad for people waiting forever for their citizenship...but at least they are in the US, unless us 'alien fiance(e)s' who are left waiting outside the gates! Let me in! Let me in!

  7. I too am worried that Scott will sit around stir crazy with nothing to do. This whole topic is making me think we should have him fly through JFK, and then get the big truck and drive it back and forth. Doing it from Canada, it just seems silly to have him fly when we can drive his stuff down here... hmm :/

But then like another poster said (sorry I forgot who after reading 3 pages), you're not realistically losing the whole 3 months due to all the other things going on... so I'm not sure. Well, we have months to think about it.

I was considering flying through JFK as well so I don't have to sit around doing nothing for all those months, the problem is that all the major Canadian airport have US immigration pre-clearance, so I'm not sure we'd be able to get the stamp at JFK anyway. I assume that you get the stamp in the US customs and immigration area at JFK? So I think Canadians are pretty much screwed as far as temporary EAD goes...

  8. It seems like California likes to do things in chunks so this is my take on the slower approval rate. . . that they are waiting until they have a certain amount and then are gonna let all of you Cali filers have it at once. . .like an explosion of approvals. . . that's what I think. . . just sayin'

I'm all for the explosion of approvals!! Starting tomorrow, please!
