  1. My DQ was July 5th and the interview email was received on August 3rd. The actual interview will be on September 12th so about two months from DQ to interview.
  2. Just got an interview appointment at the Rio de Janeiro consulate! DQ 07/05 Interview 09/12 Lot´s of people in the Brazil whatsapp group got appointments so it is finally moving along!
  3. Nope, I'm in a WhatsApp group with a bunch of people waiting for an interview in Brazil. We have DQs from mid June still waiting for an interview letter. They mentioned that there are a lot of Russians doing medicals in Brazil, seems like the state department is processing a lot of asylum requests throughout the world. Not sure if that is the cause of these delays though.
  4. I'm waiting for an interview letter in Brazil, DQ date is 07/05.
  5. Finally some good news! I´m in a whatsapp group of folks waiting for an interview in Brazil and interview letters grinded to a halt over there as well. Hopefully this is a sign that the NVC is moving along interview letters in general. Thanks for the update!
  6. Yep, pretty much everyone on visajourney who got an RFE went to the back of the line when re-submitting documents. I got an RFE for proof of income, resubmitted on April 21st and only got DQed two days ago (my original submission was Feb 1st.). Maybe the NVC has some exceptions for particular documents but when I called them about my RFE back in April, they said that they only have a single queue for all submissions.
  7. That´s a tricky one to answer but in my experience the NVC uses the date of the first submitted document, unless you re-submit something under the required documents list. That may reset the timeline but I don´t have first hand experience with it. Most people seem to report that adding documents under the "Additional" category does not reset the timeline.
  8. Quick update. Yesterday my case got DQd! As I mentioned, I did not add a joint sponsor to the CEAC site but will bring a joint sponsor packet to the interview just in case.
  9. Nope. When I first got the RFE requesting the proof of income, I also received a message on CEAC saying that a joint sponsor could be added to avoid any delays (since I didn´t meet the income requirements). At the time, the NVC call center was still working so I called them and was told that the joint sponsor paperwork can be taken directly to the embassy at the time of interview. I was also told that the NVC doesnt even look at the proof of assets, that´s done by the consular officer at the time of the interview. In summary, I chose not add a joint sponsor when I got the RFE because it would delay the submission of the proof of income documents (that I already had in hand) and could potentially generate another RFE for problems with the sponsor documentation. In any case, as soon as I get an interview date, I will put together a joint sponsor packet and my wife will take the physical documentation to the consulate in case they request it.
  10. Sorry, forgot to check your timeline. Just noticed you got an interview within a couple of weeks right?
  11. Thanks! I saw that you got your DQ recently as well. Did you get an interview date yet?
  12. I'm the petitioner but my wife (the applicant) received the DQ email at the same time as me (about 45 minutes after the DQ messages on the site).
  13. Just got the DQ email about 10 minutes ago. So less than an hour between the DQ notice on the CEAC site and the DQ email.
  14. Hi Jacky, Unfortunately, it seems to be pretty much whats on the NVC timeframes page. I submitted my RFE on April 21st and it was approved today, 75 days later.
  15. I just checked the NVC website and I had a couple of new messages from today saying DOCUMENTARILY QUALIFIED!!! I submitted my RFE response on April 21st (EVIDENCE OF INCOME because I am qualifying on assets). I didn´t receive a DQ email yet though. Has anybody seen this before? The approval messages on the CEAC website were from 20 minutes ago so maybe it takes some time to get the email?
  16. Fantastic news, congratulations! What day did you get the approval email? Today is Sunday so I didn't think they would be working. Our submission date is April 21st so we are a couple days behind you.
  17. Even with a joint sponsor, you still need to submit something under the "evidence of income" category if you filed your taxes jointly, even if you have no income. Unfortunately, it wouldn't avoid this RFE. The NVC basically does an administrative review of your case (proper documentation), they don't judge the merit of the application. That is done by the consulate. I spoke with the NVC on the phone and they said they don't even review the information on assets, this is done strictly by the consulate officer. A sponsor will definitely help when you go to your interview though.
  18. I wrote a letter explaining that my main source of income was from a rental property in Brazil. I also included a letter from the management company confirming the payments that I received over the last year and a copy of the rental contract. I'm still waiting for a response from the NVC though. My submission date was April 21.
  19. Hi everyone, I submitted my initial documents on 01/28 and got an RFE on 04/15 with two messages: 1. "Please submit evidence of income" 2. "This case does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p." I am the petitioner sponsoring my wife who lives in Brazil. I am trying to qualify on assets (Fidelity stock portfolio > 100k) since my current income is below the poverty threshold. Apparently, in those cases you have to submit a document under the PROOF OF CURRENT OR SELF-EMPLOYMENT category and that seems to be why we got the RFE. Since I´m in the process of moving to the US, my current income comes solely from a rental property in Brazil (around USD$24000/year). I'm planning to submit my lease contract and a statement from the management company showing the rents I receive as proof of income. I´m also trying to avoid the complication of adding a joint sponsor since all my other documents have already been accepted. I have the following questions for anyone who has gone through this process: 1) What would be good evidence to upload for rental income? Is a lease contract (translated) and an english statement on official letterhead from the real estate management company confirming my rental income enough to at least get a DQ? 2) Can the NVC actually require a joint sponsor or will that only potentially come up at the consulate interview? All my documents have already been accepted so I would prefer to add the joint sponsor information only after the DQ 3) If you had a similar RFE, how long did it take them to review the evidence of income and get a DQ? Thanks everyone.
