Hi I submitted AOS last December and finished biometrics now.
I’m planing to go to barber school.
I have a friend who works at hair salon and she said that hair salon company can apply working permit (as part time job) so I can work as her assistant once I enter the school even I don’t have EAD yet.I’m not sure this is possible or illegal to work before having EAD.
please give me some advice or your experience story thank you!

My money is on that a valid I-94 wasn't submitted. That would have established "legal presence".
I submitted I-94 but still

Didn't the SS-5 list everything to take?
I gave SS5 at the in person interview

You’re gonna have to call and ask what they’re talking about. If it’s close to or past day 75 of the 90 days you won’t get your SSN even if it was their mistake.
Jan 4th is 90 days limit so I might won’t get one

What do you mean you submitted social security card? You went to an in person appointment?
They're saying you didn’t submit a document. Which document did you not submit?
I meant I went to SSA in person appointment.
before the appointment I asked them what I need to bring as document and I bring everything they said. -

To be perfectly accurate, the K- visa was voided when it was used to enter the US. 90 days after entry, the I-94 expires. Arrival date is used by USCIS...not post marked date.
Ok we just married last week which is within 90days surly, so shouldn't be problem. Thank you !

Hi I'm trying to submit the AOS before the Christmas, because the due date of AOS (90days after enter to the USA) is on January 4th which is K-1 visa expire date.
Is the document should be arrive before the due date or postmarked before the due day is fine ?
If someone know this please help this out thank you ! -

As this is the last month in 2021, you can if it makes u comfortable submit your last W2 as it will show yearly income to date
but u do not need to
some like to do it as 2020 income were hurting for many USC's because of covid
you will have to submit tax returns for 2021 (1040 with W2, 1099, and 1099R or IRS transcripts) if interview is after 4/15/2022
Thank you

Hi, I trying to collect the evidence of I-864 now.
Here is what I would like to ask.
• for I-864 part6 No.7, do I need to attach the evidence of income of latest year? Because they say "you're not inquired unless US Government ask" in the instruction (as attached pic), However it seems like every one submit the evidence, so I'm confusing.
please help this, thank you

So the SSA has not issued a SSN to you so answer accordingly. Choose to apply for SSN via i485 and i765 both. Your three forms of request for SSN don't conflict with each other.
I understand. Thank you very much !!

When did you submit the SS5 form? When does your I-94 expire?
The answers to the above will determine if SSA will assign an SSN to you. Currently, you do not have a SSN so the answer to 14 is "No". But a SSN card may be being printed. Contact SSA to check on the status of your request.
Thanks for quick response !
I submitted on Oct 22nd.
I-94 will be expired on Jan 4th.I contacted to SSA and they said they accepted my case but still waiting for immigrant department or something accept and then SSA can print out my card.
but I'll try to contact to SSA again. -

If you get the SSN with just the K-1, the SSN card will state "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION". The EAD card will be the "DHS Authorization".
EAD is taking about 8 months or so. If you file at the end of December, then expect it in August or September 2022.
Thank you !

And just FYI the K1 was voided the minute you entered the US. The 90days has only to do with getting married not filing for AOS. We always advised filing AOS after marriage but that is your choice when to file.
And as others have said no working legally until you have EAD card.Thank you very much!

I just came to ssa office today, we had appointment at 11.30 AM. I called ssa office last week and told them about my case, she said her supervisor will call me back to set up the appointment, then 2 days later the supervisor called me and inform me the appointment date.
Try to find the ssa office here : https://secure.ssa.gov/ICON/main.jsp
Thank you Okay, I called to ssa near my place and got an appointment. Thank you so much

I entered a couple of months ago. All of the SS offices (at the time - I believe it is still the case) were doing entry by appointment only.
My advice would be look up the phone number for the local office, call and explain your situation. To my knowledge, the SS offices are still working (I am actually on hold to mine as I type this), and will be able to schedule an appointment for you once you get through to them. My appointment was about a week after contacting them. Make sure you ask them clearly which documents you need to bring to your appointment!
Good luck!

Hi Jeanne thank you for sending the link. Really helpful

Hi, I just entered to the US two weeks ago, and I confirmed I have I-94 updated.
I try to apply SSN, but SSA seems like close due to the COVID, so I could not apply in person service. I called to SSA but they do not answer, also searched how to apply SSN online, I could not find any information.
if someone applied SSN recently I would like to know how and link of the website.
thank you
