  1. Hey Guys,

I received a RFE on Friday for the I-693. I arrived in the US on a K1 visa on February 28th & handed them my brown envelope with the medical enclosed at POE - JFK.

I had my medical in London at the end of January & I sent the DS-3025 vaccination form (show's I have all required vaccinations), in with my AOS stuff on March 4th 2008.

This is my second RFE & my application has indeed been forwarded to California. I read all the information I can find on VJ & I am assuming the information was left behind in my main file & never made it to California in the temporary file.

I called the 800 number on the RFE & got nowhere because the person informed me that they were a customer service rep & not an Immigration Officer, so they couldn't check or supply me with any information on my case! How exactly they provide us with CS is beyond me!

My next call was to Senator Schumer's office. I spoke to a very helpful lady who took my details & seemed to know exactly what to do & said she'd get back to me later that day.

Unfortunately, I still haven't heard back from her & I chased this morning... I'm getting worried...

I called some Doctors in NYC but ultimately the one posted on VJ in Austin, TX was the most helpful & seemed to know exactly what I need. If I mail them my details & copies of the signed I-693 pages with the date & signature filled in only, they will transcribe the vaccination information & send back to me in 2 days using priority mail. This sounds great, as I can have it within the week but I have a concern....

What about the rest of the I-693? The medical part of it will be blank! When I asked the helpful lady in Austin, Texas she said she wasn't sure but they had done lots of them & no one had called back to say that it didn't work. I'm concerned... Can anyone reading shed any light on this. Maybe you did this, please let me know your experience...

My request for additional information states that a report of Medical Examination & Vaccination Record is required. It says "Please submit a properly completed and signed Form I-693."

I would also like to get the number for JFK - Chess, you said you called, can you message me the number there please? Is it worthwhile me calling the Doctor in London where I went for my medical? This is really stressing me out.

    Please help guys!

  2. Hello VJers,

My new wife and I have been fortunate in this process so far. Other then long wait times, everything has worked like clockwork until now...

We received one of the dreaded yelllow Requests for Initial Evidence in the mail yesterday re: the I-864 Affidavit of Support portion of our I-485. Specifically, they wanted us to complete page 5 of the Affidavit which is the "Optional" page that asks us to list the sponsor's (and immigrant's) assets.

Generally in this process we've been pretty ####### with providing USCIS with more than enough information, but this time, since my income greatly exceeds the poverty line, we left the Optional page blank. Now I wish we wouldn't have.

We still have the backup and proof of assets I gathered for the I134 during our Fiance Visa process. Is it okay to reuse them as proof of banking assets, etc, even though the letters are dated about 5 or 6 months earlier? Or would you suggest sending off for all new documentation and proof?

Would love the opinions of anyone who's been in this situation. Many thanks in advance for any advice.

    Best,

    Lost Pup

  3. Dear David-Rhosie, Nana_356, Leafgal, and u2rsobad and everyone else in March,

Thanks so much for the replies and support for my posting. It's at least comforting to hear that there are a few others in February and March that have taken over a month.

Nana...where did you see that info?

I just called the 800 customer service number on the I-485 instructions and an attendant told me to try and sit tight for another week. They officially mention that it can take at least 30 days to receive an NOA. Kind of strange when so many others receive theirs so quickly. I hope that doesn't mean that they've found anything wrong or that an RFE is coming our way. If so, I'm not sure why. We've been fairly expedient and overly-thorough in this process so far. We included 6 passport photos and approached the AOS, EAD, and AP as if they were three separate .

Guess we'll wait a bit longer before I go calling a bunch of other numbers. Don't think we have a choice. Just annoying to think there's nothing we can do.

Thanks again for comments and for the timeline advice. Please find it below. Even though I've updated the signature, not sure if it's automatically adding yet. Well, not in the preview at least:)

    Best,

    Lost Pup

  4. Mossycouple you filed with a great group of people. The support here is amazing!! Dont hesitate to ask questions !

Also, lostpup, it would help if you could fill in your timeline. I am in the same boat as u2rsobad, why didnt you file at chicago??

Lostpup Never mind my previous post! Are you sure they received it, did you do a delivery confirmation wit USPS???

    Hello Nana,

Yeah, we received both delivery confirmation as well as the return receipt (the green postcard) from the USPS for our Chicago bound package. Is anyone else still waiting? Been reading earlier posts of this thread. Seems like most have received at least their NOA.

ALSO... not sure why my timeline doesn't post along with my postings. Is there a box somewhere that I'm not checking? Or are people simply cutting and pasting their timelines from their profile page??

    Many thanks for any help.

    Best,

  5. Hey Marchers!

We mailed our package to NY on March 4th.

    QUESTION:

Has anyone received their first NOA??? Unless I'm reading it wrong, the statistics page says that people have averaged receiving their first notice in 10-13 days. We're coming up on 4 weeks now and are starting to get nervous. We received the delivery confirmation and return receipt in the mail, no NOA. And our check has yet to be cashed.

    Has anyone received anything back??

    Anxiously waiting,

    Lost Pup

  6. Hello VJers,

Congrats to all who have gone the route of the I-129F and enjoying matrimonial bliss!!

We came home from our wedding day and after some RR hustled to complete the next stage of I-forms for our AOS, EAD, and AP submission and get them into the mail to the Chicago lockbox address.

Now, however, I'm seeing that other filers have been sending their forms to their local CIS office? Is this correct??

We haven't received the NOA yet, nor a return receipt for our priority USPS package. My check hasn't cleared either.

Is anyone else in the same predicament??

I just reviewed the mailing instructions for the I-485 form and it says that the Chicago address is correct for all K1 visa holders.

    Can anyone shed some light??

    Many thanks,

    Lost Pup

  7. Thank you Lisa & Marty,

They gave me the red stamp (on the back of my !-94) no problem =) It lasts for 3 months...

Actually, the whole experience at customs was very pleasant, which was good because I was prepared for the worst.

    B x

@ LOSTPUP. I have been keeping my eye out for any info regarding EAD at POE New York. I haven't heard of anyone on here being refused it if they asked. Some reviews don't mention it, some have had there passports stamped with a red ssmudge(!), some have had to ask for it, and received it. I'm pretty sure someone went last week, and got a 3 moth EAD. Check out the POE reviews at the top of your page. Good luck!
  8. Congratulations everyone on all the recent progress... We're on a roll, woo hoo!

I received my visa on Monday and ANOTHER brown envelope (more like a sack of stuff) to carry as hand baggage, the same as my X-rays which were given to me after my interview! I have one week until I fly and am very excited as we're getting married on March 3rd which is already a special date for D & I...

I am hoping I get the work authorization stamp at JFK. What has people's experience been with this? :help: Is it a stamp in my passport or a card (I have had an EAD card before). What do I say if I don't receive it? I'm a freelance journalist & will cry if I can't cover the election coverage, it's like Christmas come early for me =)

Thanks in advance for the info =)

  9. Hey guys, firstly thank you for all the luck & support, we couldn't have got this far along without VJ...

Second, can I get an "A", can I get a "P', all in red please.... Yes, we're also approved...

In & out in 2 hours. Everyone was really nice, my actual interview was like a friendly chat with a friend!

She asked how long we've been dating? 5 and a half, almost 6 years

She asked, where I met D? at a party in NYC

What was I doing in NY? Student

When did he propose? In November

Just gone, 2007? Yes, the official proposal with the ring....... & then I went into the long winded story that I won't bore you all with! She loved it and was laughing!

Then she told me I had been approved!! Yippeee....

Good luck to our Valentine Day interviewees tomorrow & here's wishing you all a lovely Valentines Day (L) (L) (L)(F)(L) (L) (L)

  10. Congratulations!!! I'm gonna check through my paperwork for the first time now. Wondering what they'll ask me tomorrow. I'm so ####### with dates

Will ask D to update you all asap... Please keep fingers crossed for me...

    B x

Hey everyone!!! Good News!! My husband is APPROVED!!!!!! I woke up at 5 am waiting for the call and he finally called at 7 am.. He was there from 9am-12 PM (UK time). So all in all it took 3 hours for the interview process. They asked for some documents at the first window. Then he waited for a few hours. Then they asked him questions about where I live and if he's going to work when he gets here and if he swears that all the documents are true. Then he was approved and the visa should come in the post on Thursday. Then he leaves his job next Sunday and visits his family before he flys here on the 21st!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! Thanks everyone on here for being so great!

    Kristi and Owen

  11. WELL DONE DEBZ!! I KNEW YOU'D DO IT... SO PROUD OF YOU

I can't wait to hear ALL the details, please don't leave anything out. I was thinking of you all day today & actually walked by the Embassy at the end of my day. I wanted to see if it was still the same entrance as when I was last there a few years ago. Good to know what direction to run in in case my tube journey is disrupted or something... I must say, I've already started going through all the things that might go wrong & feel a tad nervous myself now...

Please could those who interviewed on the 1st of Feb also post testimonies with every single little detail please? It really helps. I got my packet 4 today.

It says no large bags, I'm wondering whether it's okay to put my large scrap book & all my large envelopes & folders of paperwork onto a tote type of bag or should I just use a large shopping bag in case I have to trash it? Of course I'm taking extra stuff that they're not even asking for. Better safe than sorry..

Thanks guys... I'm assuming Tinkerbelle has been approved & they are off busy celebrating!!

  13. Good Luck to Debz, I will have everything crossed for her. I almost wish I could go wait for her outside the Embassy poor lass, to make sure she's okay after!

Thanks for adding us to the list, feels good to see our names up there, but it just dawned on me today, ####, my interview is next week... Arrgghhhhh.... :help:

Brits in NY is a cool idea, I'll join up a a West Villager... Go on, go for it...

    -B

Can I add my dates?! (I love this forum...)

My medical is scheduled for Wednesday -02/06/08 at 10.30am Betnick Square.

My interview is scheduled for the following Monday- 02/11/08 at 9.30am.[/color]

    Thanks:)

and GOOD LUCK Debz!! Sending you happy, positive vibes!!

BTW, I saw there is a 'Brits in Calif' on Facebook- is there a Brits in NY on Facebook?

    Thanks!

  14. Thank you Gillian... I don't have to call though! I have good news & a date to add to the interview list.

I am SO happy... I just got home & D called to say that the DOS line told him we have our interview & the letter was mailed out to me today.

Did I mention I'm feeling on top of the world at the moment?!?! :D :D :D

Please add B&D, (yes we are actually called B&D) to the list please. The interview has been scheduled for the 13th of Feb at 9am...

13 is a lucky number for me, so I'm feeling very positive, despite the fact that Sunday the 17th is 40 days wrt police report for us. I hope I get it before the 13th!!!

If I don't, can I send it in after?

Can't wait to hear how people did today... Bring on the red approvals...

    B x

Good luck to everyone tomorrow, I'm sure you'll all get approved... I can't believe our lil theory came true & all the interview dates are rolling in =)

Congratulations to all those with the new interview dates

My pup & I are still waiting for our interview date however =( Found out from DOS line yesterday that the embassy finally received our packet 3, even though it got there special delivery on the 17th!! Will call the extortion line & see if I can have requested date in FEB. Any advice appreciated btw... I couldn't wait like Derek, (safe journey btw mate), I have a flight booked for the end of the month. Already tried emailing the consular, but got no reply. What is this code fellow VJers have mentioned? Should I ask for it or will they assign me one wehn I call? I'm assuming it's different from the LDN number I already have...

    B x

ps Debz, I'm sure you'll be fine... :D stay strong... it's nearly over...

Just call the extortion line and tell them that you need to email the Embassy about your interview date and they'll give you the code to put in the subject line. Good luck.

  18. No more updates yet? What happened to the roll London was on?!?!

    Hi Guys,

Congratulations to everyone who has been approved & good luck to those off to their interviews...

This is Bea, lostpup's fiance in London... I love this thread, it's so positive and encouraging! I've been hooked and read it all over the past couple of days :D

I'm not with pup at the moment so I have the time in the evenings! Ha ha...

Thank you for all the posts & support. This group is great, I've been procrastinating about an interview date, but haven't got one yet. Very anxious to add our names to the list, let alone get the big red APPROVED letters... Reading through has helped me though

I've had my medical and requested an interview for February last week (by letter, they should have received on Thursday). When do you think I'll hear from them? Just sent the consular an email & lost pup is calling the DOS line later. I wonder why there haven't been new interview dates to add? Strange....

If I do hear anything, I'll let you all know...

    Cheers,

    B x

  19. Hey all.

Today I have sent off the following to the US Embassy to resume the K1 process:

DS-156 (2x) (and not signed, did I do both of those right?)

    DS-156K

    DS-157

DS-230 Part I (page 1 and 2 are filled out, page 3 and 4 are blank, did I do that right?) (This was the only form that I did sign, did I do that right?)

And the Checklist back saying we are ready for our interview.

I assume I did not need to send anything else out for this part of the stage?

    Thanks for any replies/advice/help :)

    Hey Jakey Matey,

Sounds perfect, I sent the same in on the 17th of January. Doesn't it feel good to get it off & away. I was happy to see it go =)

I used recorded delivery to be thorough & now I wish I had used UPS because when I try tracking it online on www.royal mail, it doesn't recognise my ref. number.

SO annoying because it is the correct 13 digit number, it's driving me nuts... I am going to try calling the embassy tomorrow to check they received it.

How did you send yours? I did my forms just the same as you did...

Also, may I ask, when did you request your police certificate? Did you go into a police station in person? As I was in NY for pup's (my fiance) b'day & Christmas, I sent mine in the mail. As I couldn't do registered mail from the states, I now can't check to see whether they've received it or not =( It's making me really worried....

Just trying to figure out how long it took to come, seeing as we're on the same time scale. I haven't sent in my four pages requesting the interview yet. Want to get the MPS receipt & will send then. Only thing is I wish to travel at the end of Feb & so need it asap...

    ARRRGGGHHH

On a brighter note though. I had my medical today & all went well. Sorry, it's not on the timeline everyone, my fiance's in charge of that & he can't see the gap for it...

It was a fast & pain free process, well, minus the needles I guess... If anyone has any questions feel free to ask. I was done in less than an hour. Only needed one vaccination so that was good & fingers crossed the Embassy will have the results by Friday =) Yippeee... Bring on the interview... I'm on a roll now...

If anyone has any tips on how to speed up the process for getting a date please share as I'm going around the bend here on my own, missing my puppy

    Good Luck everyone...

    -B

  20. Thanks Gillian,

You are a Godsend! This forum is great, I'd be going crazy without y'all (practising my yank talk! lol).

I still haven't mailed my forms! Keep getting stuck on dates, esp. with regards to travel to the US.

I've been back & forth loads & have lived in the US twice before on different visas, that's how I met my fiance also, whilst living here.

I am currently visiting him in NYC & all my old passports and calenders with these dates are back home in London.

I want to complete and mail the forms asap to get an interview sooner.

Or should I wait till I'm back next week & double check dates & then mail them back to the embassy?

    Yours frazzled,

    -B

ps I see I need 3 photos now, do we need more for the next stage? AOS/EAD/AP - should I go ahead and get those done now too or will they be too old. I haven't even started looking at the next stage yet. I think my fiance, lostpup has though....

pps Good luck everyone ;) We'll make it I'm sure....

    Hi JakeyMatey,

How's it going? Funny I am in the same predicament as you but for different reasons of course.

I am filling out the forms & hope to mail them in the next 24 hours.

Did you not attach the passport photo's to form DS-156?

I'm not sure whether to send them in with the forms as the form instructs or to take them to the embassy for the interview as the instructions direct?

    Or do we do both?

Good to know we're not alone,

    Lost pup's fiancee

Don't send photos back with packet 3, take them to the interview.

    Gillian

  21. Good luck Rusty.

It looks as though you've got the advice you need. Just to add about the addresses though.

The post service websites for the US & UK have post code or zip code finders if you enter the address.

It's come in very handy to me!

    -LP's fiancee

    Hey Guys,

Hope you all had a fantastic christmas and best of luck with everything in the new year.

I am finally (3months on) ready to submit the pack to the Missus so she can send on. A few last things i just need to clear up...So i can have complete piece of mind and wont die of Rfeworrydeath.

    1) included in pack: proof of ongoing relationship...i have printed off pictures (a medioka high res colour printer! works ofc!) like 6 orso pics at different times, firstly are these ok to be printed? i have also included our phone bills and a few bday cards etc..should i include more? i have read alot of posts where people clearly go overboard..and sometimes less is more, i know i wudnt want to sift through a load of ####### if i was an employee. So my Q is phone bills/pics/bday cards and our boarding pass stubs from aall our flights, is this enough? what else shud i include.

    2) Address list, i have lived in so many houses over the past five years and 2 of them (i spent less than 2 months in each) i cant for the life of me remember the full address, i tried googling it etc but i cant remember the postcode..is this a huge problem if i just leave the address as the old one to make sure there is no gap, i mean do they check with the electra roll or tax office? it was about 4 yrs ago orso...

    3) so submitting immenently, then will be visiting Dakotah (in Ohio) around Febuary, will i still need a letter from work etc? are they still hot on that if im English? im worried about booking the ticket and gettign turned away, i cant believe its really luck of who u get whether u get in or not, she will kill me if i dont see her on her Bday...so what would be best for me to take? and i dont have tenancy agreement or anything as just sold house..so living back with my mother.

I think thats it, we are ready to rock and roll.

Wish me luck with it! im a tad nervous, as i guess most of u guys were.

    Kind Regards

    Rusty
