  1. Hey Everybody,

Figured I should give an update on our visajourney.

Lara had her medical--Had to get a Gardasil shot... Didn't expect that! (Cervical Cancer is not contagious!)

Had her interview on Friday, April 3rd, 2009

    EASY, 2 questions:

What does your husband do for a living?

    &

    How did you meet?

They didn't ask to see any of the photos or other proof she brought.

    and that was it!

Only problem was her passport photos (she had to show her ears--something new I think)

They have a machine in the Frankfurt Embassy, so no worries.

    Visa Approved!

She picked up her Visa yesterday! April 7th 2009

She could have got it a day sooner, but didn't have the time to drive to Frankfurt on Monday.

We bought her plane tickets in advance, so in 5 days Lara will be in the United States as a Permanent Resident! (Conditional, of course)

    April 13th 2009!

One day before our 1-year Wedding Anniversary! :D

All together from the Notice of Action #1 till she picked up her Visa was 99 days!

    Faster than I ever expected!

Now I have to clean the house before she gets home and kills me! hahaha

    Congrats!

  2. I just wanted to write a quick 'Thank You' to everyone on here for their wonderful and kind assistance.

After 2 years of struggling to be together, on Monday our case was finally approved in Amsterdam. It was a bit of an anti-climatic end considering all the ups and downs of the USCIS & NVC. The final moment was very quick, pleasant and pain-free :)

My husband will finally join my daughters and I on 18 April and our real journey as a family will begin.

Despite the best immigration lawyers his employer could retain, their experience and knowledge and guidance were a disgrace compared to the wonderful and fantastic advice we received from people here on this site. Having started the journey with lawyers, and finished it without them, I can honestly tell you that the advice & guides from this site are 1000% more helpful than any lawyer, even for the 'not so usual' cases...

So to everyone still on their journey - please keep your faith and use the wonderful help and advice that is available here - it will make the process (slightly) more bearable and the reward of having done it together even more sweet.

    :thumbs::star:

Thank you again for everyone's kind assistance, and all the best of luck.

    :star:

    - Patrycja

    Congrats!

  3. My fiancee is under the impression that her proof of unmarried status, birth certificate, etc can only be translated by some place in bangkok or some visa shops that the embassy approves (her words). She doesn't want to do this, but she thinks she has to, so I told her I would ask here what everyone else did. Can she get these things translated at some place in Udon near where she lives or does she really have to go to some specific place or places?

I did translate some documents by myself by using the form from The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Website. Here is the link to that website http://www.mfa.go.th/web/804.php

You can ask your fiancee to look at the website if she can translate by herself.

So there is definitely no requirement that documents be translated by some specific translator? She can do it herself or have any visa office translate it?

By reading from another website, some people they translated their own documents and possible to use that for the interview and even got approved for Visa

http://usvisa4thai.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=4995 (This person did the translated by herself)

  5. What is a good website to find a plane ticket from Bangkok to lax?

Last time I was in Thailand, I was looking for good cheap rates from BKK to the U.S. as well. I stumbled onto moxtravel.com. I haven't used them yet, but I doubt you'll find lower prices anywhere else online. I'm seeing 20k THB to LAX one-way right now. That seems pretty cheap.

That is cheap. It's about 75 dollars cheaper than BT-Store can find

Try Eva Air, It is about THB 24,XXX something (Included Tax already) for one way ticket to LAX, they offer a good deal if you fly during the weekday. You can either purchase through their website directly http://eservice.evaair.com/online/html/Eng...an/EIBSA005.asp or you can contact the agency that DABOYZ provided, they are pretty good and helpful.

  6. Congrats on the case completed, hope you get your interview date soon.

    K. Mommy: Did you email the embassy to see if they received your case, is that how you know it arrived?

Does anyone know if there has been anyone successful in switching the interviews at the BKK embassy? Our K-3 interview is scheduled for April 17th, and being that the NVC says they mailed our file on March 31st to the embassy they should have it by the time we show up for our April 17th interview. To my understanding this means they should give us the CR1 at the time of the April 17th interview. If not we will wait 5 weeks until out May CR1 interview but I thought I would see if anyone knew anything... had any experience... or saw it happen.

    Thanks.

    K. Noi, I didnt email the embassy yet but I tracked the DHL accroding to the NVC auto message about sending the package to the embassy. I should email them to see if they really received it.

I hope that you can switch the visa from K-3 to CR-1, I really don't know much of the detail about switching the Visa.

    Good luck. :)

  7. (Yeah this is what the embassy told me as well but seems like another girl on www.usvisa4thai.com kind fight with me about this, she said it is valid for 1 year which I don't think so. Because I think I better rely on what the embassy told me. )

**The medical report valid in 6 months mean the date you did the medical exam until your interview date.

The medical report valid in 12 months mean the date you did the medical exam until you contact the AOS stage in the US.

Well that is what I understand as well about the madical report being valid for 6 months, from the date they make the report to the interview date. I just don't want others doing it too early in advance because they think the medical report is valid for one year from the report date to the interview date.

  8. Thanks Q....We will contact the embassy in person... We know emails and calls will not help...We will go forward keeping the worst case scenario in our head....Thanks everyone...NVC is still saying it is on 20th...Tomorrow hubby is gonna call State Dept. Lets see what he gets from there...

    Sonia

I think the best way is contacting the embassy in person. Hope you get the answer for all of this soon. :)

  9. I got another RFE today so i called NVC. The lady looked into my case and said that the RFE was sent by mistake and that all my paperwork looked fine. She said they are currently in the process of completing my case and i should call back middle of next week. I will call AVR every day now.

Hope your case get completed soon. Maybe you can even try calling them about the interview date next month too. Good luck. :)

  10. The completed medical papers are only good for 6 months. It is ok to do the medical portion before recieving packet 3. Just don't do it to early or you will have to do it again.

Yeah this is what the embassy told me as well but seems like another girl on www.usvisa4thai.com kind fight with me about this, she said it is valid for 1 year which I don't think so. Because I think I better rely on what the embassy told me.

Can you send me a link to the usvisa4thai thread where this was discussed?

I was under the impression that the medical is valid for a year.

That may turn out relevant in our case, since we did the medicals in January when we got our NOA2 but before we realized we would get STUCK this long at NVC and waiting for consulate to get the case. We should be fine with the 6-month window for the interview. But there's no way we're going to be within a 6-month window from January (i.e. July) to do the AOS in the States.

What I'm wondering is -- could it be that BKK consulate only considers the medicals valid for 6 months, while AOS allows 1 year? That might explain the disagreement you had on usvisa4thai? That's why I'd like to see the discussion thread. It's ok if it's in Thai, I'll ask my honey to read it.

Yes sure, here is the link : http://www.usvisa4thai.com/board/viewtopic...f=4&t=18764

If it is the Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record (I-693) for Adjustment of Status, yes it is valid for 12 months from what I read.

And here is what the embassy replied to my email about the medical

"Once you have the interview appointment date from NVC, you will then have to have medical examinations with the panel physician. The medical examinations will be good for six moths after issuance. Please find medical forms and instruction in the attachments."

  11. The completed medical papers are only good for 6 months. It is ok to do the medical portion before recieving packet 3. Just don't do it to early or you will have to do it again.

I guess I'll have my fiancee travel to BKK to get the police report, do the medical, and translate her birth certificate all on the same day. Do you need to bring anything with you to the medical?

I brought the medical form, 1 photo (1 inche or 1 and a half inches), and the passport

I suggest you to call the hospital to arrange the appointment first due to the Thai New Year, some doctor might not be there, if your fiancee can go there even early morning, it will be good, I made my appointment at 7.15 am, I was the first person there and I got done with everything at 9.30 am.

  13. Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh has some pretty weird policy. They don't answer phone calls. U can only email or fax and u will get reply after 1 month or so. Today is 3rd April and next 2 days are weekends. So if I email them on 5th (I can even email them today), I will never get a reply in time.. so far pointless.

I know, it is only a week later but problem is, we had some plans, my husband is coming all the spending thousands of dollars. It is never easy. Worst case I would have to face the interview on 27th. But why is this kinda mess? Atleast when I have interview letters both from NVC and Embassy which says it is on 20th?????????????????

    Sonia

Is there anyway you can go the Embassy and ask them about it if you can't call at all? Since this is pretty weird and NVC still have the old record of April 20 for the interview date.

  14. Approved!!!
