  1. Ok I'm officially freaked the F*&^% out right now. I was just posting thanks for posting the koshary recipes because I was thinking I needed to make some for dh soon after we had the dinner party last night. Then I started posting about the latest haunting experience this morning that happened a little bit ago about the manual bicycle light whirring in the kitchen & then the entire houses power shut down for a minute and came back on.

I think it's too creepy of a coicedence that the manual bicycle light would be whirring in the kitchen just minutes before the houses power shut down. Now I want to GET OUT OF HERE! Hubby had to calm me down.:help:

I'm like Staashi, get someone to pray over that house...i wanna move too, but i have to stand my ground... if it gets really bad like it did for one of the pastors at my church to where he would have cuts and scratches on his body, i think i would move.. he moved from texas to alabama to be closer to his wife's family, not because of entities.. but i would definitely try prayer first...i am here for you... i believe you, trust me i do (F)

I figured out what the electrical whirring sound was that I heard in the closet on freaky friday and you guys are not going to believe this!

It is freaking crazy! I was laying on the couch resting when I heard the whirring again and it was coming from the kitchen this time.

Hubby was in the kitchen and I asked him what is that making that sound. It took him a minute to respond and he said it was a wind up bicycle light.

Watch at 00:34 and you'll see what I mean.

That whirring sound was going for a while that night and is what woke me up when it was getting louder.

I went to look in the closet and there was one in there.

So that is what the ghost was banging and winding up.

I didn't see it flashing like it can when I opened the door but that is so crazy to discover.

It can bang, open and close doors, turn on house lights and windup manual bicycle lights.

Olivia what is going on??? what exactly is the history of the house... i know my dad bought this house in maybe 76 or 77 for maybe 5,000. plus interest of course.. it needed some work on it too...i don't know if that was considered cheap at the time or not.. and you know the things i went through and still going through... i'm not sure of the history of this house either and wouldn't know who to ask... have you been keeping journal of this... i wish i had been but i was young then... since my husband has been playing the koran he hasn't complained of anything.. things were happening to him while he was trying to sleep so he plays it when he goes to bed... did you say it was an elderly lady you saw or someone saw... did she die in the house... i know my dad died in the house.. my sister and my mom made the funeral arrangements... i was too distraught to go.. i know the night he died i slept in the same bed... i wanted to be close to him and couldn't...so i didn't see what clothes they were burying him in and they had graveside service to the casket stayed closed... maybe about a week or two later i was at my apt getting ready to sleep.. i laid down maybe 5 minutes, then all of a sudden i see my dad standing by the bed.. so i jumped up and he was gone.. he had never been to my apt, long story.. he had on a grey suit and white shoes and he looked healthy... he died of cancer and had wasted away to nothing.. i later asked my sister what he had on and she described the same thing i saw.. i was happy and scared at the same time... he stayed around to watch over me and my mother.. he's welcomed but these other entities are not welcomed :angry::crying:

  3. Good morning MENA!!!! Happy Sunday to everyone... i may try to go to church today.. hubby has to work.. didnt get a chance to go to the mosque on Friday... hopefully he will have another Friday off.. i have to fix the bow on my cello, bummer... i am also thinking about ordering some middle eastern instruments online but really not sure which ones to buy.. i think i heard of mizmar??? and also some egyptian flute... i will try to buy them.. does anyone know any good sites for this...they stopped teaching music in our city school system for the younger kids.. i took band in the second grade and played trombone and various other instruments... music to me is like breathing.. i need it...i want to pass that on to my children... i look at halims band and i was like wow... they were wonderful... wake up people and try to stay cool today..have fun :dance:

  4. No, abortion is not murder. Murder is a legal definition, not a moral one. You believe all you like that abortion is immoral, have at it, but it is not illegal, so it can not be murder. Such statements that abortion is murder are far more tasteless than my comment that posting a personal fetal pic in an abortion thread demonstrates a lack of common sense. Such statements insult everyone who has had an abortion for any reason, such words are used to try to make those who need to have abortions for whatever reason feel guilty, as if feelings of guilt do not ever figure in the decision making process, as if those who have abortions deserve to be punished by society instead of given the support they need to get on with life. People who have abortions know full well that a life is taken by the abortion process, the fetus is killed, and a fetus is a potential baby, child and adult, with all the possibilities that that entails. People who have abortions KNOW THIS, and yet they have them anyway because sometimes an abortion is the right choice.

I apologize if i offended anyone with my personal opinion on this matter.. please forgive me.. you are right it is about morals, not a legal issue... just seeing that picture brought back memories and i let my feelings get in the way... sorry again if i offended anyone :crying:

  5. Wonderful,

There really isn't anything to making koshary. You just cook the rice, pasta (elbow or any other smallish pasta) and brown lentils seperately; fry thinly sliced onions until golden brown and drain on paper towels; the sauce is: sauteed garlic, tomato puree or crushed tomatoes, cumin, salt, pepper, chipotle sauce or whole chipotle (add a little at a time to test spiciness) and a bit of vinegar at the end. The amount of spice depends on your taste but for a large can of tomatoes I probably use a teaspoon or so of cumin. When everything is finished simply layer with the onions on top. My husband tells me I make koshary just like an Egyptian. :) Not to toot my own horn but I agree with him. lol.

Thanks, I will try it... I'll make a little just to see if he likes this version.... I really do miss Cairo and yummy koshary    thanks again :luv::thumbs:

  6. this is my little man at 22 weeks. When they were pushing on my belly to get him to move around, he put his hand in front of his face as if to say 'leave me alone, I'm sleeping' lol

Don't tell me they don't know.

Happy Bunny, I'm with you on this... they know... abortion is just plain murder

  7. Does anyone have a recipe for koshary... i tried this recipe i found online and my hubby told me never make it again :crying:

i loved it when i was in Egypt... but i couldn't eat a lot when i was there.. i felt sick when i was there... about a week and a half after i got back i ended up in the hospital having gallstones removed... anyway i want some koshary so bad and none of the middle eastern restaurants here have it :bonk: ...it's something about the sauce... oh my goodness, please give me a koshary recipe :help::crying:

  8. :D In the spirit of Caturday and Freaky Friday.

Nothing happened last night. I was scared to go upstairs a couple of times but Hubby went with me and stayed with me the whole night instead of his usual late night USMLE study sessions.

I slept on him most of the night. You know where you have your body touching their warm body to know they're there just incase. lol

This morning he complained at me that I made him sleep on the edge of the bed most of the night because of the way I was sleeping on him.

I told him it was because I was cold, but really I was kinda scared and comforted by him there.

He told me he slept there the whole night and that he yelled at whatever it was yesterday to stop and it did.

I was surprised this morning to find no activity since the night before. Ya for our manly protectors!

Tonight we're having guests over for dinner. The family that owns the house allows me to have my friends over.

We'll get to entertain them with ghost stories now for a bit.

Olivia the pictures are funny and creepy at the same time... is it ok to be scared in the daytime  .. glad to know nothing bad happened last night...you should write a book... the way you wrote the story yesterday, wow... Aya the appts went well... not sure about what insurance companies are out there... you have to think about deductibles and stuff like that... please research them carefully and also see when their open season period are.. i have federal blue cross.. it's a ppo.. i hate that part of it.. but i like being able to chose what doctor to go to... you just have to be sure they are in your network.. be careful of these companies that offer discount cards.. i'm not too sure about what they cover... i signed up with one one time and cancelled within 30 days.. they didn't cover a lot.. like i said they give discounts... have you tried online or maybe friends or neighbors may help with ideas.. i know private insurance is high but i think they pay more, but i could be wrong...now Olivia back to you... shame on you with the scary pictures... my nerves are bad... i can't take it.. someone help meeeeeeeeeeeee :devil: just kidding.. yea let me come over for Halloween too..keep a journal too.. you have a best seller

Wonderful, I am sorry your daughter had to experience a drive-by shooting. How is she feeling?

    Have a good day everyone!

    Aya

Thanks Aya... she's doing fine... it's like Michael says, With a childs heart, go face the worry of the day.. with a child's heart, turn each problem into play... she doesn't really talk about it... i hope she can keep her focus.. a child shouldn't have to deal with adult issues.... how are you and John???

  12. wow Olivia... I thought i was the only one going through stuff like that...my husband has experience things at the house we live in that he NEVER experienced in his life... it got so bad that he had to buy the koran on cd and have it playing on repeat in the cd player.. i've experienced things in this house since i was 7...i remember one time recently last year i had my bible and was reading it... i laid down for a little while then all of a sudden i felt something scratching at my covers by my feet as if to get my attention... but that old paralyzed feeling wouldn't let me move for a second and i couldn't speak.. so i said JESUS in my mind and got up and moved the cover... what ever that was was gone... i've seen dark entities in the house and some try to overtake me.. i'm serious as a heart attack... my husband believes me because it even tried to happen to him... one entity looked like a small gorilla... he asked me was someone killed in the house and i said i don't know... but my father died in the house.. but remember i've been experiencing things since 7... radio not being on the station you put it on when you wakeup.. i would have my mothers radio on the gospel station and then in the morning it would be on the sports channel... my dad liked the sports station.. but other things that happen i know it's not him.. it's even got my daughter scared to sleep by herself... if you guys only knew the things i have gone through and the things i still go through you would go insane, literally..i wanna move, he wants to move too and will it end still.. we don't know.. i've heard dishes moving in the kitchen when NO ONE was in there... i would just get ready to lay down and maybe be sleep 5 min and then something runs in the room and looks out the window and then runs back out... it resembled my oldest daughter but wasn't her... not even gonna talk about being halfway sleep and then all of a sudden being paralyzed and having a feeling that something is, well, having it's way with you... i remember one time my daughter came to sleep with me.. i was halfway sleep.. then i felt this presence in the room getting ready to touch her so i quickly grabbed her feet and said JESUS and i heard this roar like what ever that was was mad... i could go on and on... but like i said whatever is in the house has frightened my husband so that he WON'T sleep unless he plays the koran... so Olivia i understand girl

  13. Happy Thursday everyone!!

Wonderful~ that is terrible about the crime in Birmingham! I have to tell ya though, I moved away from Atlanta about 11 years ago. I didn't even live in the city limits but outside of the perimeter and the crime was just as terrible there too.:(

My daughter was in middle school and they had a drive by shooting at her school one afternoon. She was staying after for soccer practice and when I heard about it, well I just about freaked out.

My sister lives within the city limits and she pays for private schooling for her 2 daughters. After seeing the public school systems in Fulton County, I really don't blame her.

I feel the best move I did for my kids was moving them here to Florida.

I hope everything turns out well for you and your family!

I wish they had some kind of Arabic Fest down here!!! Chicago's too far away!!

 what in Atlanta too.. say it ain't so... oh well... there has got to be somewhere to move where it's safe, not too expensive and not too chaotic with travel... i'm sorry about your daughter having to go through that... wow...that's insane... i'm glad she's alright... i wanna go to the arabic fest too... they should have it in every town... wouldn't that be wonderful :luv::yes:

  15. helpsmilie.gif Wonderful I am shocked and sorry to hear about the drive by shooting at your daughters camp. I hope everyone is alright. Waleed & I want to move too but it's going to take some time until we can save up enough money. First we both have to find full time employment. I hope that you may move somewhere safer soon. rose.gif

  16. Good morning everyone... i pray all is well with everyone... i am so ready to move from Birmingham but not enough money to do it :crying: ... my daughter goes to camp sponsored by campfire usa... this is her second year... yesterday out of nowhere they had a drive-by shooting... they managed to get everyone in the building safely... the lady over the building said she had been requesting another building in a better area....it's shameful when people do things like this... back in 2008 Birmingham was ranked 6th as the most dangerous city in the country.... i wanna cry... i wanna move to atlanta or somewhere else... in Georgia they have the lottery and they have the hope scholarship... in alabama they are trying to put away with gambling... oh about the arab american festival.. i would love to go to something like that and even jewish festival... i love diversity  ... i thank God for diversity... now i gotta call my youngest daughter's father and tell him what happened and hear him say"you can pay me for keeping her" again :bonk: ....i'm so glad i have a sensible husband now...:luv:
