  4. Hiya,

Our wedding is on 19th April 2008. Initially we had plans of my entering US in March. However we wish my parents could also attend our wedding in Houston. We are not sure about the process and would like to know -

    1) Do we have to apply B2 visa for them?

    2) How much time does it take to issue B2 visa?

    3) Will they be able to attend our wedding if we file by next week?

    4) What are the possibilities of getting their visa?

    5) What all documents do we need from my Fiance to sponsor them?

    Thanks,

    Manya

  5. I am back from my visit to Ludhiana. Congrats everyone who got their interviews done. Looks like everyone got through. That's a good indication. Tomorrow I will be going to Chennai for my medicals. So made a quick checklist. Let me know if anything is missing.

    a) two photos

    B) interview letter (original)

    c) passport (original)

    d) medical forms given in Packet 4

Another question.. Do I need to fill in the medical form beforehand or when the Lister Lab at Chennai do their diagnostics?

    Thanks,

    ravi

    Hi Ravi,

My Medical was done in Delhi. I was asked to carry 2 photos, Interview Letter and the passport.

Am not sure about Medical Forms. May be someone who had their medical in Chennai may help clearing your doubt.

By the way... Dont forget to keep the money ;)

    Good Luck

  6. All of this waiting. All of this hoping. And now............we have an interview date and we are both scared to death! So much to do before 3/24. We are both feeling overwhelmed and nervous and wondering how we are going to get everything together (He's still waiting for the passport office certificate, and it may not arrive on time to be able to submit to VFS). Eeekkkk!

Dont worry. You have sufficient time. Dont Panic.

    Everything will be ok.

  7. Hello Fellow Members,

Just want to let everyone know that my wife's K3 Visa is approved!!!!:D.

Here is some information on what went on at the interview.

    1) Reached there at 7:30am

    2) First person to get inside. Got interviewed by 1st Immigration Officer around 8:30. The gentleman only asked for the K3 checklist. Did not ask for any 'Proof of relationship'

    3) Was told to pay fee and get fingerprints done.

    4) Around 10am, second interview occurred. That gentleman asked alot of question (about 10) and mostly about me and what i do here in America.

Over all it went real smooth!

Quick Question: Does anyone know how long does it take for the Embassy to send the documents over to VFS? My wife had her interview on Monday and she called them up today and VFS office stated that they have not recieved her passport yet. She is planning to leave on Thursday (India Time).

    Thanks!

    Congratulations !!!!

Hope you get her visa on time. Keep following up with VFS.

    All the best.

    Manya

  9. My fiance called vfs and they said to call tomorrow at 1230. I called NVC and they said the visa was approved on the 21st and that it should be with the VFS.

I asked them if the security clearance was done, they said" the visa has been put on the passport"....

so hopefully we are all done.

    Hey, Great news!!! :dancing::dancing::dancing:

  10. Hi Everybody,

Today me and my fiance were having a discussion about me entering US. Our discussion led to POE and work authorization. I told him that I would prefer coming through JFK, New York because Officers at New York POE stamp work authorization of 90 days without much of hassle. As the discussion continued we started getting some doubts too and hence am here with our queries so that we can decide from where to enter US.

    Here are our Queries -

    1) My final destination will be Houston, Texas. Will it be OK for me to enter through New York? Or Houston will be a better option?

    2) If New York POE stamps 90 days work authorization, will it be valid only for New York? or it will be valid irrespective of the location?

    3) If I enter through Houston, what are the chances of getting work authorization for initial 90 days?

We are looking towards work authorization because I am a Network Security Specialist and am getting some offers too. If I get work authorization it will be our call to decide when to start working and whom to join. Manish agrees with me and we are yet to book my flight.

    Thanks,

    Manya

  11. First I want to thank everyone here for all their advice.. My fiance and I would like to especially thank Manya.. she spent alot of time with my fiance and really got her confidence up.

    715am- both reached the embassy

730am- sudden mad rush to cross the street.

between 730-8- security check and we waited outside

8am- My fiance and I entered the building. She gave her interview letter.

appx 840- called up to window 16, there she signed a document, handed over her passport and then they handed over all the evidence back to her. She was glad I was with her, because it was like 10 pounds. It was all labeled "Return to Applicant" with a cover letter. I honestly dont think the CO ever looked at it.(I will explain why later).

We then were told to go pay the bank draft, but the window was closed.

9am- cashier opens, we pay the bank draft and then walk back to Window 16 with the receipt, I felt that the lady was never nice. As we waited there, a woman on a marriage visa was approved, just an hour after they opened the doors.

appx 945- I saw a woman being called up to the window for an interview,(my fiance went to get a snack, she was hungry and needed strength). She was being interviewed for a fiance visa. She was there for about 10 min.. and then I saw the CO(an indian person) walk away and then come back with the dreaded white sheet. This is when I panicked, but I never told my fiance(she was just coming back from her eating).

then I saw the CO read a few docs, spent like 1-2 mins and then he called my fiance... I walked over with her, lugging all the evidence, and then he had her scan her fingers... and he asked me to sit down. But before I did, I handed over my passport to my fiance.

This is what he asked her:(not the right order) btw, my fiance told him that I am here and am avaiable if he has any concerns or questions,.. and showed my passport:

    What is your fiances name?

    What does he do?

    where does he work?

How long has he been in the US?

Why didnt you get married here?

I am divorced, so he also asked:

Do you know about his son?

    What grade?

    Do you talk to him?

    Nothing that she didnt know....

Then he asked if he can speak to me....

seems there was some confusion over the paperwork... I then explained to him that I had to reapply because we didnt get approve.. then he understood... He said ok.. and he was friendly and we chatted and I told him yea.. its been so long.. a very long road.. he said as far as I am concerned.. eevrything is in order.. I dont know why she was denied earlier.. he said maybe people dont understand the culture as well as him(he was indian)... then I said when do you think she will have it.. he said.. everything is in order.. i usually tell the people 1 week.. and he said her security clearance isnt back yet.. but it should be back soon.. we thanked each other and then we left.. we were done by 10am...

If anyone is joining there fiance.. let the CO know that they are there and available.. i think it helps... I think his 1 min talk with him reassured him...

I also am pretty sure that he didnt see any of our paperwork or evidence... he was jsut getting to look at the application when he called her...

It was a very good experience... but i guess if you get the visa it always is.... now we are just waiting for the visa in our hands!!!

    Hey CJ,

Am glad that I was of some help but believe me, am a selfish girl ;) . Good that me and Harpreet met at the consulate. After knowing your case I was a bit concerned (and more selfish) because I could feel the pain of being you and her away from each other for so long.

I was more selfish because I have told Harpreet I wish to see NewYork and would like her to show me the city whenever am there, and a nice treat ofcourse. Thats the deal. :D

I called VFS today and they confirmed receiving my Passport at VFS, Delhi. I told them not to courier it as I would like to pick it myself. Later during the day I picked it from the VFS office without any problem. My interview was on 20th Feb and I received Passport with Visa today on 22nd Feb).

    Note :

    1) Confirm status of your passport with VFS customer care (011-42220000) If they have received it they will tell you when can you pick the passport.

    2) Passport can be picked between 2-3 pm.

    3) Do carry VFS receipt if you are going to pick it personally. VFS receipt of Rs 365/- (Processing Fee).

    4) Carry your identity proof also.

    Cheers!!!
