  1. Most people snore loudly when they're on their back.

While sleeping on back the position of the head affects movement of air through nasal and throat passages, and the level of the vibrations cause snoring.

Encourage them sleeping on their side (instead of on back). My husbie used to snore. Now I can hardly hear it while sleeping. My Dad tried it too. There can be some other reasons. But sleeping on their side worked for my husband & dad.

  2. Its like a woman in a train in India dropped the baby on the tracks through the hole in the toilet coz she didn't realise she was in labor

    Thats cr@p

    pun intended? :jest:

    1) It was an accident. It was premature birth of the baby. Mother fell unconscious and baby slipped through the toilet. Baby was 8 to 10 weeks premature and weighed only 3.22 pounds.

    2) Prompt recognition of preterm labor may help prevent premature birth. Even months before your due date, be on the lookout for:

Contractions that occur more than six times each hour (You'll feel a tightening sensation in your abdomen, often reminiscent of menstrual cramps.)

    Low, dull backache

    Pelvic pressure or pain

    Diarrhea

    Vaginal spotting or bleeding

Watery vaginal discharge (This may be amniotic fluid, which surrounds your baby in the uterus.)

If you're concerned about what you're feeling, contact your health care provider. Don't worry about mistaking false labor for the real thing.

  3. We went to "Fogo de Chão" last month for my mom's birthday. Though food was good and service was prompt, my mom felt it was too much paying 500$ for the meal, drinks & vallet parking.

I wouldnt disagree with her any other day on paying too much for a meal. However that day 500$ bill was unmatched to the special moments we all had together on her birthday.

  4. Hi,

Today I got receipt of AOS/EAD/AP dated 29th May that starts with MSC. Now am trying to figure out how to track my case further.

USCIS site (https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/caseStatusSearchDisplay.do) throws the following error -

    "Case Status Retrieval Failed

This Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact the National Customer Service Center."

Is there any other site to track AOS/EAD/AP ??

  5. Hi,

I am filling I-485 Form. In Part 3 it asks about Nonimmigrant visa number.

My visa has following 2 numbers that I can identify -

First : "Control Number" (14 digits) which is at the right hand side top.

Second : 8 digit number at the right hand side bottom.

Which one is the correct nonimmigrant visa number? If its not the one from above, where can I find it?

    Thanks,

    Manya

  6. Can AAA issue a international licence to a non-citizen? International DL are for US Citizens who will be driving while visiting another country...or so we were told by the person we spoke to at AAA. They told my husband he couldn't get one to drive here in the States.

Does this mean I cant drive untill my Status is Adjusted (AOS)? If you have your EAD, you can apply. Again this was our experience.

Do I have to apply for Driving Licence after getting AOS approval? If you want to wait that long, sure. Again, the EAD will usually suffice. However, it does depend on the state, and the state of mind of the person you're dealing with. :)

What other means of identity I can apply for? (I have my passport & marriage licence with my maiden name. And got my SSN with my married name). Neither of those worked for us. It seems that waiting for the EAD *or* the Green Card is the only way in some states.

    Thanks KarenCee. Much appreciated.

  7. Hi,

I was going through I-485 Instructions and got confused after reading this.

    "Filing Fee :

There is no fee for applicants who are filing Form I-485 based on having been admitted to the United States as a refugee. Applicants 79 years of age or older are not charged a biometric fee; the fee total is $930. Applicants under 14 years of age: - Filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $600 - Not filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $930

    Special Instructions :

You may file the I-131 and I-765 concurrently with your I-485, or you may submit the I-131 and/or I-765 at a later date. If you file Form I-131 and/or I-765 separately, you must also submit a copy of the receipt for your Form I-797C, Notice of Action, as evidence of the filing of an I-485."

I had the impression that I will have to pay $1010.00 for AOS, $ 340.00 for EAD & $ 305.00 for AP.

I am planning to send my AOS (I-485) package with EAD (I-765) and AP (I-131) sometime soon.

    Am I missing something??

  8. Hi Everybody,

Today I went to DPS (Texas) to file for Driving licence with my Passport & SSN. The lady checked my I-94 and said that since it has a validity of 3 months only (till July) I cant file for Driving licence :-( They need I-94 with a validity of 1 year & atleast 6 mths remaining to expire. She suggested getting an international licence through AAA. Am in a fix now. I did not get international licence from my home country.

Can AAA issue a international licence to a non-citizen?

Does this mean I cant drive untill my Status is Adjusted (AOS)?

Do I have to apply for Driving Licence after getting AOS approval?

Has anyone else faced the same problem?

What other means of identity I can apply for? (I have my passport & marriage licence with my maiden name. And got my SSN with my married name).

    Thanks,

    Manya

  9. I applied for my SSN card today... waited 2 weeks so their system was updated.. which it was :innocent:.. It was a pc of cake. Shld get the card in 2 wks.. She gave me 'authorised to work with DHS's permission - which I guess is the EAD... Sweet, so I do not have to get the status changed..

All the best for your interview nksj.
