  1. VJ members,

I received my NOA1 for I-751 that my spouse and I filed jointly on 09/28/2010. However, there are some "errors" on the NOA1. Petioner (ie. my spouse, who is Greencard holder) name is not exactly written how we wrote in the application. And formatting on the name is awful; it has 20 spaces between each part of the name as shown below.....

USCIS wrote on NOA1: Petitioner: LASTNAME , FIRSTNAME MIDDLE_INITIAL.

However, when we applied, we wrote my spouse's name as: LASTNAME FIRSTNAME ENTIRE_MIDDLE_NAME

Another issue is that on the address portion (which shows up in the envelope's window), USCIS has written only: FIRSTNAME_INITIAL LASTNAME (i.e. J. SMITH)

I know these are minor things... But, I want to make sure at least USCIS is "consistent" in making these errors.... That's why I want to ask VJ member here if they have seen similar errors on their NOA1.

Should I be correcting these by calling USCIS?

    thanks,

    CS

My NOA1 letter said something about creating an online account to check status of the application. Is this to be done only after we get Biometric appointment letter???

Or can we create the account now based on case no. on NOA1 to track what is the status of the application????

  3. Thank you beng_and_carl and Jamericanlove for your supportive replies....

I have another question that is regarding bank statements. I am not submitting monthly statements of the join account because I really don't trust these guys to dispose the financial information properly. With all our information like routing no., account no., address, etc. , if they misplace any of this information, anyone can commit fraud on our account. So, I am only submitting an account summary letter, which contains our names, joint ownership and account no. from the bank signed by their employee.

Is anyone else submitting an account summary instead of monthly statements....???

  4. Hi VJers....

I am also going to be September filer. Thinking of filing on monday (09/19). I just had a quick question about evidence I am sending in. I have posted a question here...

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/275003-list-of-supporting-documents-for-i-751/

If anyone can look over the list and quell my anxiety...it would be wonderful. I have been freaking out thinking whether I have enough evidence or not....

  5. Hi VJ members,

It's time to send out I-751 for my wife to remove conditioins on her 2-year Green card obtained thru marraige. I am just freaking out whether supporting documents that I have gathered as evidence of our married life is going to be enough or not....Here is what I have gotten so far:

    1. Copy (front and back) of green card of my spouse

    2. Apartment Lease and extension of lease showing joint occupancy

    3. Copies of jointly-filed Tax Return Transcripts for last 2 years

    4. Joint checking and saving account summary

    5. Letter showing spouse as beneficiary of spouse’s life insurance policy.

    6. Letter showing spouse as beneficiary of spouse’s 401(k) plan

    7. Copy of our health insurance cards showing joint policy

    8. Copies of our car insurance statement showing joint policy

    9. Copy of driver’s license and state identification card

    10. Copies of several utility bills

    11. Copies of several cell-phone bills

    12. Copies of bills from college for my spouse for her study

    13. Copy of airline reservations for our vacation to Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, and Miami

    14. Several pictures of us while on vacations

What do you folks think??? is this enough???

Also, I want to ask whether it is ok to highlight our names on certain documents (like airline reservations, lease, etc.) where there is so much cluttered information. Just trying to make their life easier by pointing out our names, etc. in a document that contains other useless junk.....

    thanks,

  6. The form you will need fill out and provide evidence for is called the I-751. The link below will take you to the USCIS information page for this form:

There is a forum on here for this type of form. It is called Removing Conditions on Residency General discussion. Here is a link to that form:

  7. Hello all,

After almost two year of hiatus, I am again back to VisaJourney. This community helped me prepare the application for my spouse to come to USA under IR-1/CR-1 visa. She was issued two-year green card which is set to expire in Dec. 2010. From what I remember two years ago, you have to re-apply to get 10 year green card 90 days before current green card expiry date.

I just want to ask what is the USCIS form to be used for re-application. Also, is there a seperate VisaJourney forum that I can use to ask more detailed questions? Is there a seperate guide (like other spousal visa guides) available for this procedue?

I apologize if I didn't post this at the correct place....this was the closest forum I found to submit this question. Please guide me to correct forum if one is available.

Good luck to everyone who is trying to get their I-130s approved....hang in there.....

    thanks,

    CS

  8. Sorry to bring this topic back to life....But, I spoke to my cousin again...and he had several questions...

    1. When he got married, they submitted his marriage certificate and later his son's birth certificate to USCIS. USCIS sent them letter confirming they received everything and in the visa category they listed: "Married Sons/Daughters of US Citizen" in that letter. So, if they updated him correctly at that time, WHY DID THEY DENY HIM NOW?

    2. What should be next course of action? Would hiring an attorney help in this situation? Also, will Congressman or Senator be of any help in this situation?

    3. Can his case continue from when my uncle became citizen in 2004? (ie. his priority date will be the day after my uncle became citizen) OR does my uncle have to file from the begining (ie. priority date of 2009)???

thanks in advance for you help as this is not straight forward case...

  9. Hello All,

I have come back to VJ after some time, since my wife is now already here. While checking timelines of recents filers, I noticed that waiting time from submitted initial I-130 to getting NOA1 and NOA2 have gotten really small (30-40 days). I waited for like 200 days to get my NOA2. Is everyone getting NOA2 really quickly now? If yes, it's good you guys/gals don't have suffer like we did.....

  10. My cousin recently stood in for immigrant visa in Mumbai Consulate in India and they DENIED him the visa......Here is the timeline of what and how it happened. Can anyone from VJ community help me understand why this happened and most importantly....HOW TO FIX THIS.....

    1. My uncle was a green card holder and he applied for his son to come here on Immigrant visa. At that time his son was over 21 but NOT married. So his visa category was "Adult Unmarried Sons/Daughters of Permanent Resident".

    2. My uncle became citizen in 2004. So, he "upgraded" petition for his son so he can come here faster because of him being US citizen now.

    3. My cousin (my uncle's son) got married.

    4. My uncle submitted his son's marriage cert. and later (upon birth of his grand child), grand child's birth certificate to add them (wife and son) on his son's petition as dependents.

    5. In 2008, NVC approved the case. DSL forms were sent to my cousin in India. My cousin paid necessary fees (choice of agent, IV fees, etc.) and filled out DSL forms and sent them to NVC.

    6. Mumbai consulate scheduled a visa for him (my cousin) few days ago.

    7. My cousin went to get visa with his wife and son.

    8. Consulate denied him the visa because they said: He got married before my uncle became citizen, so he can't come under this category now.

After all these waiting for 6-7 years, they (NVC, USCIS and Consulate) NEVER found any issue with this application and now they are finding problems when he stood in for his visa interview....THIS IS SO INSANE....PLEASE HELP....

It's been 1 month and 10 days since my spouse entered US and she still hasn't received her social security card. We went to local SS office after 3 weeks and they looked at her A number and checked in the system and she wasn't still in the system. So you may have to wait longer....I don't know how much do I have to wait....It has been pretty long.

  12. My spouse just received her 2 year Green Card on Jan. 12th, exactly 1 month after entering POE on Dec. 12th. However, I noticed a minor problem with the name. Her name is correct on the card. But her middle name was abbreviated to a letter (which is first character of my first name). I do see her full name in the bottom of Green Card with other gibbrish numbers, etc. Have other beneficiaries of VJ members also received their Green Cards with their middle name abbreviated?

Also, even after getting Green Card, my spouse still hasn't received her Social security card. I went to the social security office and lady in the office checked in the system and told me that my spouse was still not in the system. Does anyone have any idea about the apporx. wait times for SS card and if it's longer than GC?

I also received another Welcome Letter with GC.

    thanks,

    CS

  13. My spouse has received her "welcome letter" on 29th Dec. 2008 after entering US on IR-1 visa. I saw the status on USCIS.gov and green card has been ordered up for her. However, we have not received our Social security card in mail (even after selecing "YES" to question 33a on DS230)? So we have decided to make a visit of our local SS office. I read the instructions on SS-5 form and it is not very clear on what evidence they require to get new SS? They ask for at least two documents to prove age, identity, and U.S. citizenship or current lawful, work-authorized immigration status. But with Green card still not in hand, the only evidence I have is her passport stamped with CR-1 visa. Does anyone know if it's sufficient to apply for Social security card?

    thanks,

    CS

  14. I checked 'Welcome Letter' received by my wife and I spotted an error on it. In the address part, last character is missing from street's name. It's not that much incorrect that any USCIS mail won't make it to my home. What should I do? Does this require me to submit 'Change of Address Form' or will they correct this minor error in address without any form submission on phone?

    thanks,

    CS

  15. hi VJers,

My wife entered POE on 12/12/08 and we are waiting for our welcome letter, SS card and Green Card in mail. So far, we haven't received anything. I wanted to ask anyone here if they know whether on www.uscis.gov, online case status changes after beneficiary enters US and/or when Welcome Notice, SS card and Green Card gets mailed????

My case status still says 'Approval Notice Sent' when I-130 was approved....Will this message change when welcome notice gets sent?

I am trying to use this status message as a guide when USCIS work on POE material for beneficiary....

    thanks,

    CS

  16. My wife entred US on CR-1 visa via POE Chicago. There are two stamps in her passport. One is Department of Homeland Security stamp with this info: "ADMITTED CHI DEC 12 2008" and handwritten words "CR1". Second stamp reads "ALIEN HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 216 AND OF THE PROCEDURES FOR HAVING THE CONDITIONAL BASIS OF HIS/HER STATUS REMOVED".

Is the second stamp same as I-551? There are no other stamps in the passport. Is this what other newly immigrants have in their passport? IS my wife missing anything in her passport???? Also, the agent at POE didn't write her "A-number" in the passport? Is this a problem?

    thanks,

    CS
