  1. Hi Mikko,

Just a quick question. Did you get only a pink slip or both a pink slip and a white slip?

Other VJ members have been telling me that everything is complete if you only got a pink slip. However, if you did only get a pink slip and are in AR then they must be wrong?

My wife might be in the same boat as you. She got only a pink slip on September 16 but still the visa has not been released to DELBROS.

    cheers

  2. This is where I'm confused:

My wife paid the DV only 13 days before the interview, so there is no way it could have been done before the interview according to the tested DELBROS timeframes. Therefore, either they decided not to bother with DV on that occasion or they don't always hand out a white slip while awaiting DV.

At the same time, according to DELBROS, my wife's visa is still in process at the embassy, which means it still has not been printed 6 to 7 days after the interview. So that makes me think they must still be waiting for DV...... or something else?

DELBROS did verify that they sent the docs to NSO, although this could have been sent before the interview as a matter of routine given that my wife paid the DV fee.

I guess the only way I can know is to call the embassy to find out what is the cause of the delay.

I hope it is not some other detail they decided to pursue. My wife and myself had an abundance of evidence ready for the interview (millions of emails, wire transfers, photo album, tickets, phone records etc....) but they didn't ask to see any of it. The pre-screener asked if we had photos but then told us to put them away without us even opening the album, since the album would not have fitted through the window. One other thing: my wife also had a recently annotated (corrected) birth certificate, but they didn't ask anything about that either.

The pre-screener did ask us to come back to the window after the pre-screening when they realized that I was recently naturalized (last year after marrying my wife). But then I informed them that my original US visas were work-based (J1 and H1). Neither my former permanent residence nor naturalization were marriage based. This is something they could also be checking into, but then wouldn't they have given my spouse a white slip if that was the case?

  3. is there anyone out there who knows?

I would like to know also. My wife had her interview on September 16. She was given only a pink slip (no white slip). However, the visa is still in process at the embassy according to www.delbros.com whereas others who had their interview after her already received their visas by the weekend. I'm wondering whether it is DV that is holding things up or something else. They didn't say anything about needing to wait for DV or something else at the USEM.

  4. if you also filed a I-129F, after a bit of leg work, you can go from I-130 NOA2 to CR interview in just 2 months

    timeline

    July 14: I-130 and I29F approved

July 26: NVC acknowledges receipt of both I-130 and I-129F

July 28: DS-3032 and AOS fee bill generated (although dated 2 days earlier when I received the snail mail)

July 29: mailed off $70 AOS fee

July 29: email forwarded DS-3032 from wife (snail mail got there first!)

July 30: spouse mailed off DS-3032 by express mail (UPS) from Philippines

August 4: DS-3032 hard copy received at NVC from Philippines

August 4: AOS fee bill received by NVC (although wrong date was on James' short cut generated bill!)

    August 6: AOS generated

    August 6: IV bill generated

August 6: send off AOS (I-864EZ) lets hope they accept a non-notarized version with IRS tax transcripts for last 3 years rather than actual tax returns! (there's not even any space to notarize an I-864EZ, so it makes no sense to me)

August 6: paid IV bill online with invoice # obtained from NVC operator (who also told me the online system doesn't work, so I'll just have to see what happens)

August 7: IV bill status is now "paid" and deducted from my bank account

August 7: mail off DS-230 + pile of documents + IV payment receipt + bank statement showing deduction

August 8: AVR says IV bill generated? (online status changed to "unpaid" although paid receipt is right there online. duh!)

August 11: finally they accepted email DS-3032 (hard copy got there one week earlier)

August 13: IV received at NVC (they need to be informed again to reconcile online payment with visa application, grrrrrr)

August 13: online payment system status changed back to "paid" yippee!!!

August 13: receive snail mail IV bill

August 14: AVR says IV payment received August 6

August 14: AOS instructions received by email

August 19: medical appointment (using k3-visa # already at consulate)

August 22: case complete according to operator several days later

August 27: k3-visa interview scheduled for September 16

August 27: expedite request emailed to send I-130 docs to k3-visa interview so that it can be changed to a CR-visa interview

August 27: also mail in expedite request

September 3: still no news on expedite request so ask to speak to supervisor who then has email tracked down and worked on within a couple of hours

September 3: request sent from NVC to embassy to find whether k3 interview can be changed to CR

September 9: MNL accepts expedite request and I-130 package mailed to embassy (I think)

    September 16: k3/CR interview date

  5. I wonder whether my case should be added to the list:

    applicants: Nova & Neil

    case complete: 8/22/2008

    embassy: Manila

    date mailed: 9/9/2008 (I think)

    interview date: 9/16/2008

The interview date is earlier than ordinarily achieved for a CR in Manila because it was originally booked for a k3 visa and then was just changed to CR after making an expedite request last week. At least it serves as an example of how one can get an earlier CR interview in Manila by filing a I129F/k3 application and then using James shortcuts at NVC for the CR.

  6. got tired of calling NVC and finding out that my expedite request had not been acknowledged (they said they're still working on August 15 emails LOL !!!)

finally spoke to a supervisor today who had my August 26 email tracked down and forwarded the expedite request to the embassy

lets hope they will accept the September 16 k3 interview being changed to CR!

    sigh!!!!

  8. The AOS bill is sent to the petitioner whereas the DS-3032 is sent to you the beneficiary. Many VJ beneficiaries generate their own DS-3032 by downloading it from the website and entering the visa case number by pen in place of the barcode. Then send it by express mail directly to the NVC. This definitely works. The snail mail version of the DS-3032 can take a long while to arrive from NVC. Mine still didn't arrive as far as I know. (all this is discussed in the shortcuts topic which is permanently pinned).

Congrats on the interview. Who does the DS-3032 and AOS Bill get sent to after it's generated? I've been waiting for nearly 2 weeks now and I haven't received anything yet. I want to pay and submit my DS-3032 form ASAP. I'm the beneficiary by the way.
  9. I'm wondering if I'm likely to have the same problem.

Did you or your wife try going to the NSO in person? You could start with the local office and then go to Manila.

My wife corrected her birth certificate just last year. When I obtained a copy of her birth certficate online, NSO still only provided me with the old uncorrected one, so I'm a bit worried about that.

  10. In principal it might be possible to follow the cover page link directly from the payment website. (I can't check this anymore myself because my payment account has already been deleted). If that's the case then it shouldn't be a problem. However, you might still want to check things are in order by speaking to an operator.

I followed the weblink after paying the IV fee and printed out the IV coversheet online and sent that in before the AVR or operator ever said it was generated and it didn't cause any problems.

Often the AVR provides false information if you use the online payments, James's shortcuts, etc....

  11. Received a letter from the NVC today saying that the DS-230I was missing!!! (was in complete shock!)

Then I called the NVC operator to find that my case was complete on August 22 and is awaiting interview scheduling!!!!! yippee!!!!

The AVR still only says that they received my documents on August 13: so much for that!

So using James's shortcuts + online IV payment + the odd phone call to NVC to check on billing etc... it's possible to be case complete in 38 days after I-130 approval date (or 27 days after NVC receipt). I'm sure it's possible to shave some days off this timeline with better organization with respect to the DS-3032 (which I lost due to being on travel). Emailing the DS-3032 also takes longer (I found out because I tried that route in parallel).

  12. my wife has the letter from the embassy (instruction package), which is just as good as the one from NVC I suppose

is it possible without having made the appointment?

hi there, yes this is possible. just show them the letter from NVC (although they did not get the copy). I had my medical wed and thu even if i don't have interview date yet. my fiance was able to book me an appointment just this morning. good luck.

  14. I checked "yes" in mine as the husband.

I initially filled out the form for my wife who then checked it for accuracy and inserted missing information before signing it. Nothing wrong with that as far as I can see?

Why do you think it would raise any flags. So you helped her fill in the form or understand what is going on....you don't have anything to worry about. Best to be honest. They might go over it again during the interview esp. part II, so if she doesn't know what it means, then THAT might raise flags. It won't hurt if you say yes. I filled the whole thing in for my wife and she just signed...and I said yes she go help and I signed as well.
  15. Finally got an email response that they accepted the email DS-3032 one week after they had already accepted the hard copy sent from abroad.

Conclusion: email DS-3032 takes 7-10 days longer to be accepted than hard copy version (even if the hard copy is directly express mailed from half way around the world!).

Paying the IV online is also faster, even if you have to call NVC everyday to check that they acknowledge the payment in connection with the submitted DS-230.

  17. I called tonight and asked for an update. She is like we generated blah blah blah, if you don't receive by Sept 1 call us back.....I then asked for "invoice identification number"...she was like sure...and gave it to me. Then she followed with "you can pay the fees online". So I guess they are now saying it's ok.

It depends on which operator you speak to. Some advice you to pay online, others reprimand you for doing it!

They've received my IV now but I had to tell them a second time that I already paid online!!!! (they seem to have problems reconciling the online payment with the submitted IV which they think is not paid!)
